That is similar to my vision for the ute.
but I lack sewing skills, so glue and staples it is

My brother has bought himself a (Toyota) industrial sewing machine and has realised that interior work is more fun than panel work, we've been down some serious interior rabbitholes thinking about parts that can be CNC router/laser cut and/or 3d printed. That Carbone guy models all his interiors in 3d before making them, upholstery has got kinda exciting since the old days

  2. Just been looking at the JTCC Corolla here https://www.racecarsdirect.com/Advert/Details/106617/1994-genuine-jtcc-fet-toyota-corolla-super-to?Published_by_Mike_Walters

I know @Snoozin has lovingly fondled this car, but not sure how far up its skirt he looked.

But can someone explain this front upright to me? It looks to me like the aluminium block has an arm of sorts heading inward to the lower arm, which doesn't appear to allow for any steering rotation of the upright, so I assume there is some sort of top balljoint mount further up the upright by those top four bolts that the wheel pivots from. Is this just essentially a fancy version of superstrut? https://global.toyota/en/detail/7829158

I think in writing this post I've essentially answered my own question, but I'd still love to hear everyone's thoughts.

    Hello everyone,

Found OldSchool by searching for an oddly specific k11 question (go figure) and ended up on Yoeddynz's thread. After signing up for the forum was directed here and couldn't believe there were over 100 pages of K11 spotting! Had a look through and don't think I've been spotted yet. Here's my pile of magnificent Japanese economy engineering. It's a 1998 4 door FL A# (The 4 door equivalent of a G# which basically means I get the big block and split folding seats with a luxurious patterned fabric...) with a 5 speed manual.

It started as a (very) cheap daily but it's endearing personality (and complete disregard for safety) has retired it from daily service and it is now the reserve daily... There's a few interesting bits on the car but maybe I'll make a thread so the people who are interested can have better look.

You have won K11 Barry bingo with one post. Welcome K11 Barry.

That seems like daylight robbery but I guess inflation etc.

Yeah, coilover prices have gone crazy. You used to be able to get Fortune Autos for about $1850 including GST, now they're $2750 plus GST, same with the Tein Flex, which was introduced as an entry-level coliover with crimped non-rebuildable insert, they were about $1750, now they're $2250

Looks like 2MZFE is the closest in spec to the alfa motor interestingly enough.
    MZ series motors suck though.

    Bore size:

    4GR:        83mm
    VQ25HR: 85mm
    2MZFE:    87.5mm
    Alfa:         88mm

    Stroke length:
    4GR:         77mm
    VQ25HR:  73.3mm
    2MZFE:    69.2mm
    Alfa:         68.3mm

Wash your mouth out. VZ motors suck, MZ are at least alloy

One of the things on my last wof for 1986 hilux was that the bias valve was missing for the rear brakes, wof guy said someone had taken it off. He ended up letting it slide as we were cutting it fine before Christmas break, but it's on the list he gave me for the next wof.

Doesn't seem to be any evidence one was ever there, there's a small bracket holding the brake lines to the back of the diff, my mates 90 Hilux (next generation) has drum brakes also and looks exactly the same. No bias valve just a little bracket in the center.

Is it just really common for these to be taken off or did it maybe not have one from factory?

My brother's NZ new SR5 looked like it never had one. It was always very quick to lock the rears. We looked at putting on a spare off a Surf he wrecked, but never got around to it. Every WOF was a ballache with it, mostly left-to-right balance in the rear. He never got knocked back on the lack of load bias though

Would be nice if it had a wof/cert for the $$$.

I would say that if you rock up with $220k for him he'll do all that and probably take you to the strippers too. With a price like that I'd assume he's probably negotiable to within about $50k
