  1. Could also look into using a intercooler water pump from the first generation of subaru legacy. A lot of turbos don't require water cooling but still have it e.g td05
  2. Love mk 1 wagons! I really badly want a cortina wagon! I saw this and it was just too far away for me. Hoping a cheap one comes up in chch oneday. Glad to see it went to and Oldschooler! They look rad on widened steels too! Just needs some slam and drive as is p.s hmu if you do sell it oneday
  3. I've also been looking at gsp trackers for my cars. I'd like one with an internal battery preferably if anyone knows of one. Another thing I've been looking at is hidden cameras front and rear and a drivers side external microphone with a constant recording setup that overwrites old data as it records. Why you may ask? Well chch police have been on the abusive psychopath side of late and I'd really like to get it on camera so something is done about it. Last ticket I got I was 6 days out on my wof and the policeboy told me to "shut the fuck up" after I asked would he consider giving me compliance as the car had been off the road for 4 months(i had the car wof 2 days later, clean sheet). He ended up calming down a bit and gave me compliance how ever this is just another in the stream of bs I've had to deal with driving a vintage car. One time I got a seat belt fine while wearing my seatbelt, true story. The Christchurch traffic police are off the rails.
  4. Following, Also worth noting equinox is on that weekend
  5. Should note I had the carb fully rebuilt by palmside 6-8months ago. Yea I'm thinking my next move is to put another larger return spring on it. Seems strange that it would be working fine for that long then overnight it some how gets stuck and prevents the car being started(floods straight away)
  6. Hey are there any Dellorto experts out there? My throttle is sticking and I've tracked it down to the rod which runs through the two ports and the butterflies attach to the rods(throttle shaft is tech term). Tried to free it up with crc but no luck. Any ideas? It was sticking completely but now after me playing with it just doesn't return fully (e.g idles at 2000 RPM). You can return it by hand find so something is definitely sticking internally. Carb was fully rebuilt about 8months ago. Car is a 1600 xflow cortina with a single side draft
  7. As per title I have a gearbox for free to anyone who wants it. Probably worth something in scrap but I'd rather it get put to use. It is complete with shifter and been sitting in my garage doing nothing for about 2 years now. Unsure exactly what it came out of but looks to be a 4speed escort/cortina or seira box ? Need it gone please haha at the least it's got a nice gearknob on it for someone! pickup in woolston or sydenham(during work hours)
  8. crap haven't had time to really sort this yet and just died going over the motorway now running on 3 cylinders...
  9. Correct. number 3 plug abit oily rest are ok
  10. yup runs fine. Misses a little but nothing major. I've noticed the fuel consumption has gone up hard to tell on these old cars though maybe because I'm dailying it I start to notice stuff I wouldn't normally think about ha
  11. So I was doing a service on the crossflow today and I took off the air filter and noticed one side of the carb was dry(starting to go white) while the other was wet with an almost oily residue on on it. Does this mean I have a blockage ? ATM I'm driving it daily so really don't wanna leave it like this if theres a problem It's a 1600 crossflow running a single side draught dellorto
  12. I'll be there. Hoping to get the following along with me Me mk2 1600 super cortina 1968 - white Tidy +1 - 1967 1500 super cortina 1967 - aqua blue ford colour - Tidy +1 - mk2 escort ghia. orange and MINT
  13. when and where is this months meet. I'm away 27th weekend but may make an appearance finally if I'm not outa town! Rolling in a white mk2 cortina
  14. Apologies for bumping and old topic fellas but I'm starting to think after a harsh winter an no EQC garage replacement in sight that I should store my cortina while it's still in good nick... Does anyone actually use this storage place? I'm curious as to its accessibility. Is it the sorta place you can roll in and take your car for a drive every weekend or more a permanent get blocked in after parking sorta place?
  15. I've passed this information on and thankfully he's going to pay someone with the know how to do it. So thanks everyone
  16. Thanks chaps I will pass that information on Thank god my Cortina is going awesomely!
  17. My brother is thinking of trying to repair his blown headgasket himself. I personally don't think this is a good idea because he doesn't know how to do it haha. But I want him to be prepared for the costs/labour involved before he does something and damages the engine. Would someone be so kind as to make a short list of things he will need to get done while the head is off? The car is a mk2 Ford cortina and it runs a 1500 non crossflow engine. Can you reuse the head bolts in these engines? Cheers Sam
  18. Yea unfortunately there is no crossmember that will fix my issue so it will have to be custom made. Should be fine for cert might need a couple things done but most of it will be renewed anyways. I just wanted to get it on the road for the cortina meet. As long as i'm moving forward I'm happy
  19. Yea that was my next idea. They're close to where I work as well I think it might be a later model 2l cortina cross member ?
  20. Does anyone know which ford this cross member is from? I brought and old escort gearbox and it was bolted onto it. I need a new mount for it. note we are talking about the old rusty one not the black one. (the black one is off and borg warner 35 automatic cortina mk2)
  21. Yay I found an easy solution!! Today after getting growled at for buying a cbr250r and having no where to put it I decided to clean out the garage. Its a mess, liquefaction and broken stuff everywhere. So while I'm cleaning this garage I stumbled apon an old escort box I brought. And it just happened to have an offset cross member on the box!!! So by adding a new piece of plate steel on to the cross member I can re-drill holes and bolt up the gearbox an cut off the excess steel! Maybe there is still hope for the 50years of cortina meet! pictures speak a thousand words so here you go!
  22. I'm willing to try anything at this stage. I have 4 gearbox's none of which fit haha. Would anyone be able to measure the distance from the outside of bellhousing to the mount point on there 5 speed? that would give me a good idea. And can you legally use an extension bracket on a cross member ? I was really hoping to get it driving for labour weekend because the 50yr coritna show is on
  23. sorry for the rubbish photos but its hard to get pics when cars only on stands First pic shows cross member being in the right place and second shows how far away is it from engine
  24. So I've hit a large problem here. The manual cross member and auto cross member mounting points are different. Hard to explain but with the engine bolted to the gearbox the cross member holes in the chassis are at least 100mm to far back for the gearbox mount point. Looking for advice on what to do guys any ideas? also sorry Felix I will get to one of those meets oneday!
