Where did you outsource the printing to? (Sorry if you mentioned it already). I've used JLCPCB a few times as I like the online quote function which allows me to tyre kick without wasting a real persons time.

Try to get an NZ New one as there are a few imports coming through needing batteries, even with low KMs. Imports also don't fast charge, if you're into that. Batteries have come down a lot from MMNZ, and they are still very expensive but at least they are available.
Have driven a few through work and they're quite nice to drive.
That's interesting, what's the ballpark of very expensive?

^I don't own one but i'm really interested in a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV so that's what i'd be looking at.. anyone on here know much about them?
If the battery goes pop it's enough to write the vehicle off apparently. Plus pretty average economy on a trip (~9L/100km). Otherwise pretty sweet if you have a sub 30km daily commute. A mate has one as he wanted to limit his car admin to just one vehicle.

@Ned Sorry if this has been covered , Ive been looking at a 2017-18 ish Ioniq the electric model obviously is there anything to look out for? looking to spend around 25k and need that extra range the ioniq has over the leaf for the $$ i was looking at.
Ned will obviously have the low down. But the biggest selling point for them seems to be the thermal management of the batteries so they seem to hold their battery life especially well, plus they also use their limited kWh battery in a pretty effective manner.

What can I get now days in the way of a waggon that can do over 1000 000 kms and take about 1.5 tons in the boot and doesn't have a computer and can fit a driver over 6 4" and is not 4x4
1.5 tonnes IN the boot is definitely causing you some issues there. I guess it's ~ 200L of tool steel so the volume isn't much of an issue.
https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-latest-model-production-car-that-contains-no-computers might give you some pointers...

Got a mate who's a mechanic. He's never seen a Swift come in for repairs.
I quite like them, in the spirit of the original mini...
Little bro (briefly) had a 1.2L 2015 CVT Swift with <20,000km was jerky AF. Dealer refunded promptly which made me wonder a little. Depending on age of said mother low seats may be an issue too. My folks insist that the Tesla Model 3 is comfy, but I think they're clinging to hopes, dreams and aspirations. Honda's are way too expensive for what they are, I'd look at the Nissan Notes. Jazz/Fit like for half the price/km. K14 Micras are pretty sweet too.

I've used One Stop Cutting Shop, were reasonably priced and quick. https://www.onestopcuttingshop.co.nz/

I'm not sure if it's something you've already done, but a lithium battery made a decent difference in terms of high up weight on my WR250R, yours is definitely looking the part though!

That's a sweet origin story! Photos don't work for me, but perhaps they're hosted on Instagram?

At my previous job, for low budget customers,i wrapped insulation tape around the insulator to fix them a few times
Its not a lower rpm limit in neutral? Doesnt really sound like a dead coil
https://www.fixya.com/cars/t19336252-2003_mazda_tribute_sputters_4000_rpm I think you might be on the money with the lower limit in neutral. Cheers!

I'll give it a go with insulation tape and order a few from Rock Auto. Apparently that's the sound when driving under load too but I haven't been in it recently.

Looks like a tracking coil pack based on pic 2.
As simple as replacing them all or just the ones that look poosed?

Hey Oldschool brains trust, a mate of mine has a Mazda Tribute V6 (Ford Duratec apparently?)with some issues. Last time I drove it December(ish) it had a slight stumble/hesitation at 100km/h on partial load. Idle was sweet, full noise was fine. It sounds like it has deteriorated since.
These photos were taken this week, and this video shows the popping and farting around 4k rpm. What's the e-diagnosis? A warm can of Dobro or a Blue Diesel to the successful candidate...

Do you mean that as in the tyre shop will balance them, or because the tyres are new they will be round? I'll be fitting them myself. Will be checking the bearings when the wheels are off as well
My SR741s had an impressive wobble from new, didn't balance them. Would probably be less tiring if I had...

I’ve never ridden a CT so would have any real knowledge but somehow doubt it. I think the gearbox is flipped now to so all down.
Aaron Card's first gen CT125 was super pretty but seemed to have less top end than the NBC110's or Lifan swapped CTs. Flipped gearbox will definitely be better than rotary, 4th to first when you lose your place keeps you wide awake...

New to the CT125 yellow and silver! No pics on the listing for silver tho.
https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/motorbikes/motorbikes/dual-purpose/honda/listing/3835883217Silver looks sweet, 5 speed would have been a nice upgrade. I'd love to know if the apparent change in stroke has any seat of the pants change?

here's a question that's probably been asked before.
Can you get a bike road legal that has not previously been registered? I have a XL185. Have emailed Blue Wing Honda with frame # etc and they came back and said that at the time of import it could have been road legal.
It has not got a vin, not been registered. Approx 1982. Have trolled through moped stuff here, looked at VTNZ, NZTA websites but nothing definitive.
Would it need to be certed as scratch built?
Anyone got experience on this?
Get it up to wof standard, take it to VTNZ with your letter from Bluewing, letter from a JP saying you didn't steal it and you'll still have a ballache of a time but it will be fine.

A long way out, and I don't want to clog up the thread this early with theoretical maybes. But how many North Island bikes would head down if there was a bulk freight option from somewhere in the NI to a spot close to the start point?
The guys that got bikes moved down on a few pallets, how did this go? And how much?
I'm gonna try do a few sums, my hunch is that it probably wouldn't make sense unless there were a lot of bikes.
There will be Chch crew riding to Fairlie on Day 1 so it wouldn't need to be dropped in the middle of nowhere... @sentra will know the deal with shipping?

So I've got a twinshock PE175, and this could be the kick up the arse I need to hook into it and get it running and on the road. Is a 21-inch front wheel in the spirit, lol?
I think provided you didn't roost everyone and disappear in a cloud of dust everytime we stop you'd be fine. In 2021 I'd broken my back 4 months earlier so did it on a WR250R, I think Kyle might have been on a CB400 that year too. Attitude is probably the most important thing!

would something at the other end of the cc scale but equally inappropriate be in the spirit of the event?
ie a roadglide/goldwing or some other massive thing
A Goldwing up that rock step would be a sight to behold. @governorsamwwhat do you reckon?!

Awesome stuff, great photos with a good yarn too. This could be telling you to suck eggs, once you start to get more exploring under your belt it's just a matter of time before you lay it on its side (hopefully gracefully and at low speed!). It's great to lay down the bike on your lawn practice picking it up. There's a few techniques but this one is a goodie IMO

WOW, good coverage, looks like a name change to Midland Madness......... the 'key' comment was to keep it in McKenzie/SCanty, but awesome trails.
i do have a more compact 'local to Farlie' route involving keys, if needed
Thanks for the offer Joe, Mof has already pre-run this route (solo and with less daylight!). So we know it's achievable. If anyone else wants to discuss changing the route, please message Mof as the confusion created in the thread isn't worth it.
