  1. Any good sources for the plugs shown above so I can make my own adapter? $100 otherwise out of the USA. Cheers edit: oh and because it's not obvious I just need the 6 and 2 pin plugs.
  2. New engine is lurking...missing a bunch of crucial parts that should be on their way this week I hope.
  3. I like your logic! I think that they probably bolt in so tidily that they could look factory - well that's the plan with mine.
  4. Last wof I took the Beagle through, the inspector told me about an ultra rare one he knew of with a factory DOHC. Hopefully he won't remember this one... http://www.lvvta.org.nz/documents/suplementary_information/LVVTA_LVV_Cert_Threshold.pdf
  5. Speaking of which - will be interesting to see if the SOHC/DOHC swap draws enough attention to need cert (I know technically it will), the power increase is minor 88->~95kW and they both have just ZC stamped on the block. That's what I was imagining too, that transfer case made getting the gearbox on far more interesting - I'd love to see how a pro would have done it...
  6. Awesome, good to know - yeah most of the power steering fluid has been spread over the floor in the workshop. Found out from the seller that he's sending me down a DOHC power steer pump so that issue is now sorted. Also have some 4 to 1 headers coming down but I don't think I'll fit them as the cross member needs to be notched. I assume that'd be a cert issue?
  7. Engine arrived today, clutch aligned by eye as per Yowzer's advice. Crank pulley removed from DOHC ZC as it is cracked, unfortunately not compatible with SOHC ZC. Gearbox is back on, loom plugged back in. Power steering pump bracket has some pretty interesting alignment issues - will try googling for some solutions. Everything else is looking sweet - should be back on mounts tomorrow if I can sort the power steering.
  8. Supposed to be arriving tomorrow - fingers crossed - photo of me looking like a dick for thread

  10. Didn't take my camera with me today - but engine is out. DOHC ZC is supposed to be sent down from Auckland in the next few days.
  11. Who is this chap? And what sort of $ were those seats bases? The ideas are spinning in my head...
  12. I'll be investing the time in the Beagle and miss this meet - plus Shane will need his engine crane back soon so he can help an E30 and an E34 make sweet sweet love. Should be on its way to me on Monday!
  13. Makes sense to me - You might have missed my question on the previous page - but will I be able to reuse the SOHC ZC engine loom (including the distributor wiring issue you mentioned?) The DOHC ZC loom is being used for a B18CR conversion. Sounds like the guy I'm buying the engine from (Chris Amaira from Strongs) has found a new crank pulley for me and is taking the gearbox off tonight so he can send it down to me soon.
  14. Good question, the main reason I did it this way was that the Honda workshop manual does it this way! It could be done far faster a second time, not quite sure about half a day to get it all out and back in again though! I think we're at about 6 hours all up to get it most of the way out. This has been far fiddlier than other engine swaps I've done, but this has been mostly to do with access - quite a lot of stuff in not a lot of space.
  15. Super, will it be an issue that I won't have the ZC engine loom? Sweet, was your one 4WD too? These Beagles were soooo expensive new - similar money to a stripped out EK type R.
  16. Another couple of hours thrown at it today - jack trick in video above was amazing. Rear transmission mount off, basically just 3 more mounts and we're free. And just for Ben - here's a photo
  17. Haha - on my camera at my brother's place. I wasn't sure if anyone would be that excited. I'll do better in future I promise!
  18. Just need to pull driveshafts and undo engine mounts and we're out (should be this afternoon/evening all going well). Will inspect clutch and replace if chooched. Our pinch point is looking to be the new motor coming down from Auckland at this stage. Was pulled from civic yesterday but crank pulley is cracked/chipped (and he broke the TPS lowering it onto pellet). Seller is going to try source one on Monday (he works for Strongs Honda) so hopefully that will be straight forward...
  19. One more thing - I had a shitty fuel filter on my GT200 - in high load situations (ie WOT 2nd/3rd) it couldn't flow enough fuel to keep bowl full. Took a lot longer than I'd like to admit to diagnose as pootling around it ran fine.
  20. Cheers! I like the simplicity of hammer time, but will let you know if I need it! Nothing so far has been rusted/seized or anything - I guess this isn't really old enough...
  21. Will give hammer a go - we've managed to not break anything yet - found the workshop manuals online. Amazingly accurate so far, far more fun than stressful too.
  22. We're right up to separating ball joints stage now - having never done it before - is this video on the right track or should I just spring for a ball joint separator? I can't quite even visualise what type/size of thing would even be my best bet. http://search.supercheapauto.co.nz/search?w=ball%20joint%20seperator
  23. I'm hoping to be well into engine back into the Beagle by then, possibly dreaming it might be done even...
  24. Bugger off the lot of you with your trailer spec wheels! It's got Racing Hart Superlative D-Specs on it which are 15 x 6.5 + 32 offset , I plan to make these center caps fit at some stage. Wheels are about the only thing sorted as they have new tyres too.
  25. Any tips like this are choice, even if you think they are obvious!
