  1. Recently picked up a gen Toyota windscreen rubber I rang the local Toyota dealership for the hell of it to see what they were worth, or let along even stock one. And they happened to have one but wanted $400 for it, flag that I said, but they offered it to me for $200 plus gst. Still not content with that I took to ebay USA and found one, a genuine item and manged to get it and landed for $95NZ.....sweet!
  2. I'm 6'1'' so there is not a hell of a lot of room, but driving on the other side is fun and the bench that resides inside now is pretty comfy
  3. Yeah I noticed that too Here is Bistros to compare But then this one of trademe looks to be the same size cab as mine
  4. Good to see it getting closer to being legal When does work on the wellside start?
  5. Interesting, thanks for sharing that info Bistro. When you compare the photo of my truck and the blue one, its obvious that the blue truck is the short bed version. I thought the difference just came down to the truck itself being the USA market model and the new wellside possibly being a NZ new model? But 90mm sounds about right that will need to be sectioned
  6. Made some small progress on this little truck Brought some tidy one piece glass doors Also the deal with the last tailgate that I had lined up fell through. But fortunately I found a brand new reproduction early model tailgate with the old style lettering, sweet! I brought it off estate_ (Thanks Grant) who I belive brought it from seedy Al I had to move it from where its been sitting for the last 6months to a new location. Took it for a spin round some back roads which was fun. Looking forward to getting this thing on the road Had to tow it to travel through town, Toyota towing a Toyota Discussion thread viewtopic.php?f=18&t=26197&hilit=LEFT+HOOK+CRUMPY
  7. Good stuff. Yes I'm trying to track down a decent bonnet. The whole front of the frame has rusted out on mine. I'm interested to see what you have to offer, photos would be a good start if possible? Cheers Here is my 82 pickup (USA model) //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/29243-left-hook-crumpy/page__hl__%2Bleft+%2Bhook+%2Bcrumpy
  8. Good progress, any photos of the other rust repairs? Would like to see those What are you doing with the tailgate and latches out of interest? Cheers
  9. Good work Clint, I like your progress so far!
  10. Hi guys I need to look into a new windscreen rubber/gasket for my 82 Toyota pickup I found this one on ebay that I'm considering, do you think it would be a good buy? http://www.ebay.com/itm/79-80-81-82-83- ... 41&vxp=mtr Also I paid a visit to a local glass shop and they said they could make one to fit, which would be a better fit, custom? Or OEM? Thanks James
  11. Coming along pretty good there dude

  15. Yeah I would but I joined the forum about a month ago to ask some questions and got banned and my account deleted after 2 days. I hadn't even made any posts and did nothing wrong. I emailed the forum admin and got ignored.. I'm part of the admin over at MTNZ. I apologise for what took place in regards to your account, personallly it was not me that deleted your account but one of the boys obviously has mistaken your username as spam. Hate to admit it but your user name does sound dodgy. Any way we are a friendly bunch, so I welcome you back. Please fire away with any questions you may have. Cheers James. Now back to the related questions
  16. New here to OS, good to find your build Nath. Cool as man, I dig it!
  17. Back into storage Left the olds rolling dodgy as f@$k No operating taillights, tray tied down, obviously no wof or reg here Luckily I had my side kick with me, we made across town without a hitch
  18. Well got the new tray on this afternoon but its wasn't the result I was aiming for. Its a NZ new bed and it appears to be a tad bit longer and none of the mounts line up
  19. Got the old rust bucket tray off today, oh my dam what a bastard of a job that was Unbolted 3 bolts and had to cut the rest of it off But as a bonus called in to a local wrecker a scored a good set of tray bolts for nothing This is what I'm working with now, rails should clean up well after sand blasting. But for now I'm just getting the new bed on and putting it back into storage
  20. Thanks! At this stage I will be removing it, but not getting rid of it unfortunately. But if I change my mind I will create a post in the for sale section. I often see the solid type glass pop up on TM from time to time
  21. Neat little trucks with Style, yeah I agree I really would like to have it back on the road soonish. I'm going towards a restoration rather than heavy mods. Plans as follows; Cab off rebuilt, new steel in the floor. One piece glass (all ready have parts) to replace the redneck rear window and quater windows Bench seat swap with original style material Sandblasted frame then repaint. Gearbox rebuild (syncros are tired) Bigger sized steelies, currently on falcon 15s. Repaint to a soild suede blue colour If I do go ahead with any mods, it will only go as far a chassis notch and drop spindles so I can carry and tow stuff with a smooth ride and not having to worry about the diff slapping the frame Then enjoy it again

  24. Present date 2011 Still sitting in storage waiting to be pulled apart. Any how dug out the old VIR report to have a look at its history and decide to do some facebook stalking to see if I could find the original owner who imported it. Any how the lady who brought it into the country surprisingly replied to my email. I received this..... Hi James. I bought the truck in Alaska in 1985 from a school teacher named Mike who was the sole owner. I drove it from Alaska to Tennessee in 1986 and then acorss the country to LA in 1988. I shipped it to NZ since cars were expensive then and new immigrants could bring in one car duty free at that time. It has driven the length of New Zealand many times. I sold it in 2004 because the clutch appeared to be going. Where did you get it and what sort of condition is it in now? I had that car for 19 years and it was a good one. I may have a few photos somehwere. Cool huh What it used to look like circa 2004
