  1. Roll Call.... @azzurro @a.craw4d @danger @Truenotch @igor @TimShadboltfan27 @Toddy415 @kiwi808 Anyone else? Tag yourself
  2. This is 100% my thinking. Except the use of a U-shape would be easier, I was thinking 2x half moons.
  3. Hi All I've been scratching my head for a solution to fit one of the 'standard' bike racks to a Euro swan neck tow ball I know of the options to swap the ball hitch and/or the bike rack but neither are cheap and I have this combo already sitting around. The bike rack connection works by forcing down on the bar tongue and since none is there for euro style it doesnt work. I'm thinking the solution might be to fab a removable collar to fit around the ball to take the job of the tongue. Anyone done this or seen similar? i.e. This (which I have) to this (this)
  4. Further details: Sat the 8th July Meeting at the Mosgiel Pool carpark (Te Puna o Whakaehu) which is on the end of the main street just before the Silverstream bridge. Meet at 1pm for 1:15pm sharp departure, havent picked a route yet but will at the time - few stop off spots along the way etc... Returning to roughly the same area to my place for some social beers, BBQ and general OS yarns. BYO
  5. Outram, around 1/2 way. Love that economy

Do the opposite, leave the residue (iron phosphate ) on to prevent the oxidation and then rough sand the panel back just prior to paint.
  7. Not really.... There is only one road which comes close to the rail in the gorge, its just a crossing and road out there is gravel. See https://offthemainroadnz.com/2017/04/21/hindon/ But the road goes through a part of a gorge near there so somewhat similar country - its a good drive.

@Kerry-TGI Go here, they will do blast + 2k epoxy for you https://www.blastingandcoating.co.nz/contact Where I got mine done, not too $$$
  9. Further details.... We may be thin on the ground with OS cars (myself included) but have 2x options for route (views welcome), or just go for a BBQ/yarns.... Option A Option B
  10. Cool, exec decision... We're going to go for the afternoon of Sat the 8th July. We could take a short car run round George King Memorial Drive, then across the Taieri to go over Saddle Hill road before back to my place for some beers, BBQ and yarns - something super low key. Attendance potentially... @azzurro @a.craw4d @danger @Truenotch @TimShadboltfan27 @kiwi808 @igor @xsinclairx @vivaspeed Link whoever else in I might be missing?
  11. Sometimes you can never trust anyone elses (prior) work. But I bet there arent many rotories untouched Look forward to see the build up
  12. How about a winter bbq, weekend of 8/9 or 15/16 ?
  13. Being close to the finish line, I'm pondering to sell this when it is done... (or at least do one trip) Sometimes its the journey, not the destination...
  14. Drove it outside for some sun... had to replace some of the brake cylinders and so it needs a good bleed. Tidy up some wiring, fit the seatbelts (and new brackets I have on order), take it for a shakedown then off for a WOF....
  15. Still plodding along with interior and finishing pieces. Made all of these door panels from scratch including the upper sheets to match what was factory. Also hook up some NOS mech gauges.
  16. The guy on the phone was very clear that there can be no further modifications to what was listed on the sheet. A friend was able to do something similar recently, HZ holden with a 350chev on old papers. I imagine if you wanted to further mod you would have to re-cert everything and to current standards? Whats listed on mine is diesel conversion + 5 spd and vaccum assist brakes.
  17. This may be common knowledge but I'll put it out there.... My landrover was modded under the old pre-91 declaration system but I never got the papers on purchase (only a grainy photo). I just spoke with LVVTA who still had the record and would send me a copy. It is perfectly ok so long as a)the rego is still live since declaration and b)the mods listed remain the same. Simple $90 admin fee and I am away.
  18. Any particular reason why you want to use sand? It has lower heat capacity and poorer thermal conductivity than water, even when accounting for density.
  19. Can you run a bank by bank mix adjustment to get value out of the duel system (like factory lambdas) or is it just helpful for diagnosis? If yes, then it'll give you that extra flex and this isnt a project done by halves.....
  20. ^You're not the 1st, nor the last who has come to a similar conclusion after a car build. Look forward to seeing what you do next
  21. This is making some progress, but with alot of other things going on with life it has been slow. When I shifted it back into my shed I noted one of the wheel cylinders was leaking. Need to finish up the interior, check some of the wiring then its off for WOF time.
