  1. KK you got Richie one of these? That's my second option if i can't find one at pick a part where they're only $21 Normally I'm not such a tight bastard but it just doesn't seem right spending $100 on a pump for a car that only cost me $400 haha. Is it just the Leone's that have the low pressure pump or do other older Subarus have them too? If so, what models? I'll try and get out there today and have looksie.
  2. I need some help trying to find an electric fuel pump for my Fronte. I'm tempted to just go and buy a FuelFlow branded pump from Partmaster like Tara did but I'm trying to keep the expenditure on this project as low as possible. So what I'm looking for is a common car that one would find at PickAPart with an external (ie. not in the tank) electric fuel pump suitable for a Mikuni Solex carb. From what I read it needs to be a pretty low pressure pump; around 1-2psi but I'm not really sure. Carbs are pretty much a missing piece in my knowledge. This thing only makes 29hp so even the smallest of pumps will be fine. Anyone have any suggestions?
  3. yeah ill be there. is there a reason why this isnt being incorporated with the normal friday night pub bizzo?
  4. He's my 2c (like this discussion needs any more input...) Buy the BC's. They are NOT the best option in terms of performance. The thing that makes them good or not good is the quality of the shock. So long as the spring rate is what they say it is then it's almost impossible for a manufacturer to cock up the rest of it. A side not here is expect the coatings on the metal to fail quickly, my D2s have never left the garage in the 5 years since I bought them and are now rusting surprisingly quickly. A custom made arrangement with a quality koni, bilstein, etc shock will outperform the BCs hands down in terms or durability, lifespan, and performance if the person who selects the shocks is intelligent. With shocks it pretty much comes down to you getting what you pay for. Another thing worth mentioning is the spherical bearing in the front camber adjustment plates tends to wear out faster on the taiwanese/chinese coilovers - once again it just comes down to getting what you pay for. So, why buy the BCs? I think theyre going to be the best solution for your budget. You dont have to think, all you have to do is buy them and throw them in. They're available off the shelf here in NZ. AND you most probably will end up changing them in a years time when youve learnt more about what you really want from the car anyway so why drop a bunch of coin unnecessarily. As for the cert issue. I have a set of brand new D2 coilovers in my other racecar. They're a modified OEM strut so you wont have issues with the welds. Assuming you can get them low enough for what you want (theyre an unshortened strut so they wont go super low) then I might be willing to lend them to you for a short period of time. Put them in, get cert, replace with the BCs and be happy...
  5. Aside from that. Mint car man. Awesome to see that you managed to find a decent car here in NZ. There's definitely room in my collection for a modified road car like this in my collection if you ever decide to sell it Get some more pics up ASAP! I won't be able to see it at the 4nR as I'm away racing again this weekend.
  6. There is no way that you could rev that engine to 10.5k and not have it end in tears dude. Formula Atlantic 4AGEs pull those kind of revs but they are rebuilt after every couple of rounds, they're balanced to perfection, they have leightweight piston and rods, they have a lubrication system that can support the oil demands of a motor spinning at that speed, and they have rod bolts that can handle those forces. Your motor has NONE of those things. 7-7.5k seems reasonable for an old bluetop that has a standard bottom end. Whoever told you it could rev to over 10k is a moron. And more than anything it won't be making any power up there anyway... Do yourself a favour and don't fuck with the rev limit and end up costing yourself a bunch of money
  7. No need to spam up the place unnecessarily? I don't know. Does it matter to you how Ed gets there if he does end up coming? Anyway. Yeah, just come Ed. No one has tenting as their preferred option but I can think of far worse ways to be spending new years!
  8. Yeah and Ed was making noises about coming with us if he did come. Leave it to us. It's all good...
  9. Carls Jr. is hella good. Sounds like a good idea to me!
  10. Lolz. My plan was always to just turn up and see if we get kicked off. It'll be one of those deals where if you look like you're supposed to be there then nobody will question it. Hopefully... There are no houses nearby so unless there's people using those club rooms I can't see it being a big deal.
  11. How do worn bushes cause dash lights to flicker? He said brushes. If the brushes are worn, the alternator cannot transmit energy from the rotating assembly to the alternator body. Even if the bushes are worn, it could cause excess slop in the shaft in such a way that the brushes may no longer make contact. Yeah my bad. I meant brushes. I understand how an alternator works. I just can't see how a failing set of brushes could lead to the washer bottle low level warning light coming on. That to me looks like the earth lifting at some point and therefore getting different earth potentials across different points of the car. It sounds like R100 is an auto sparky so I'm hoping he may be able to enlighten me
  12. How do worn bushes cause dash lights to flicker?
  13. I'm not so sure that it's the alternator. Sounds like a faulty connection to me. Possibly one of your battery termials is working loose or you have a ground strap that has come unbolted. I cold totally be wrong but I can't see why all the dash lights would come on due to low battery voltage. What voltage are you seeing at maximum and at minimum?
  14. A torch is another thing you will need. Unless you like flailing around in the dark.
  15. Long story shorter Can a 20v intake work with the factory computer on ANY other 4AGE motor aside from what it came off? No
  16. There is one here at work that we can borrow, yeah. But currently there is no way to get it up there as Ned and I are going in his car. I had thought about getting my trailer a new rego but that's just an idea at this stage. Would def do that if we were taking couches and fridges and whatnot.
  17. 10 people all with their own food will need more than 1 bbq. From past expeience 2 is going to be a good number.
  18. Depending on if we reckon it's needed or not we can bring a second BBQ. I guess it comes down to if we will have one main area for sitting around, eating, drinking, etc or if Tara and Chris are going to have their own seperate party on the other side of the camp. If we're going to put everything together (presumably in the normal/non dog area) then maybe we don't need two bbqs. We also have a plastic table and chairs here at work that will be going unused. Is anyone bringing one of those big canvas square tents with proper rooms in them? I should be able to steal one of those shitty gazebos from my sister assuming it's still in one piece or close to it. In a perfect world I'd bring a couch and a fridge but I don't think we'll have the facilites for those this time. Aside from that I'll just have the normal stuff like tent, chair, chilli bin, etc.
  19. You wouldn't ever want to run quads on a standard ECU. If you want quads on a 16V motor you need two things - a programmable ECU (link/megaquirt/etc) and a manifold to allow you to bolt the quads up to the 16V head. You can buy the appropriate manifold or you can make one yourself if you're handy with a welder. The most common place for getting one off the self is Techno Toy Tuning. http://technotoytuning.com/productdetail.php?p=372 With quads you get a very quirky vacuum signal as VG has pointed out above. Don't bother with one of those manifolds as you'll inevitably end up with a shit signal regardless. You will want to tune your ECU with TPS vs RPM, instead of MAP vs RPM to get around this. All of the common ECUs can handle this.
  20. The questions are just so bike amateurs like Ned and I can get a feel for how other people are building their shit.
