  1. Little update. Car has been running mint, done about 700miles in it without a hassle till one day at the mad butcher. Starter motor decided to crap out, took that out and a rebuilt one was going to be $280 bucks. fuck that, got a second one off trademe for $20 just waiting for it to arrive. most likely within the next couple of weeks will be blocking it all back to get a nice base and fix any nasties then a mate of mine is going to spray it properly in a booth, a nice glossy black. and im after a tape deck, old school looking.
  2. I have dropped it into an auto sparky so hopefully they can fix it. Something was split on it and the shaft had a bit of play but he said wouldnt be hard to fix so fingers crossed its cheap.
  3. It sounded like the starter motor was going but was not engaged to the engine. It has started up fine today but still had a metallic clinking sound which sounded nasty as was quite loud. I removed the starter motor and got my mates to give me a push start and there was no clinking sound while it was running and the gear on the starter looked fine. I guess i should just take it into an auto sparky and get them to have a look at it?
  4. would save more weight just removing the spare wheel than removing all that rear trim. just saying.
  5. hey guys went out to the mad butcher yesterday to get some meat and when i jumped back into the car and tried to start it it just sounded like the starter motor was going but no engine cranking. flicked the key off and on a few times and it started up but now it makes a metalic clinking sound every so often, sometimes constantly. still randomly only spins the starter too. is there an easy way to fix this? i followed the workshop manual on unjamming it and all it said was to rotate a nut at the end of the starter but that does nothing. car is a 65 super minx.
  6. First WOF since 2009!! Stoked. Took Andy for a little drive too
  7. FIRST WOF SINCE 2009!!! Time to drive the shit out of it.
  8. The ones he posted a link to are the BC golds that come with the stub axle already as part of it so wouldnt be an issue I would think?
  9. I used BC Golds on my 86 but the ones where you had to weld on the stub axle bit. Made a big improvement. 8kg/6kg Not too hard for the road when you turn the dampening on the shocks down.
  10. That was going to be next but cant decide if they would look alright. I kind of like the black/chrome combo. I will probably mock some fake ones up and see how it looks before purchasing unless someone can photoshop awesomely? Also none of the panels are very straight. I couldnt be bothered making it look mint as. The side trim is long gone and the holes welded up by a previous owner. I actually think it looks better, less stuff going on.
  11. Still havent gotten around to giving it a WOF but should be very soon, am still waiting to get my tires in. Have tidied it all up. Sp far everything works only the tires I can see are shit. Has pollen all over the car in the photos but the matt black actually looks a bit nicer when washed Let me know what you think.
  12. Get it from Japan. I paid 700 landed for a prefacelift LSD that was freshly rebuilt and shimmed up like a boss
  13. I might be being a bit paranoid but usually after I have finished working/driving a car which I actually care about I try make it really hard for them to steal. None of my vehicles lock so I take the king lead with me or leave a wheel off.
  14. Definitely done the car justice. Looks amazing. Pretty much what I had in mind when I owned it but was too lazy/had other projects. Well done
  15. Hey guys I need a couple of bits in my car welded for a wof. I will take photos tonight after work. One is on firewall, other on inner guard and one right at the rear of the car. Will pay whatever you think its worth just not panel beater prices. Im in Kingsland.
  16. i got a mint left front guard you can have for 80.
  17. Saw your car on New north road a couple of times in kingsland the other day. Looking good man
  18. If you rev it while the car isnt moving does it make that sound? I had a nasty knock once and thought the same thing. Was a wheel bearing.
  19. Where are the pictures?? I want to see this. Always dream of owning another one oneday.
  20. dude i reckon just run the steelies with some more slam. rims look a bit weird on it
  21. its for a g25 steering wheel and they dont sell the power supply by itself. i was thinking of hacking off the plug and wiring a smaller plug on. i got this power supply for free so would be good to make it work. was just checking if there was a special name for some sort of step down plug. anyway i'll take it into jaycar. thanks
  22. hey guys i lost my power cord for my ps3 wheel and have a laptop power supply which is exactly the same specs as the steering wheels old supply but the plug is that big laptop plug and im after the smaller size. whats this called? i did ring a few places but they were a bit like confused and i really cant be bothered taking the wheel and that in somewhere as i dont have wheels at the moment. thanks if you can help.
