  1. more stuff back from HPC. the BOV had a bit of wear in the bore, so I got Nicoli at HPC to teflon coat the inside of the valve. he coated the outside of it aswell. and ive got the guys at TTT to get a intercooler. the oil cooler will have to be moved. hopefully it doesnt get moved to high as I dont want the oil draining down to the sump when the car is off. and the poor oil pump will have to fill the cooler on start up. exhaust manifold, turbo, and dump pipe should be going back on today. Link install later this week....
  2. Yeah you can get them. My brothers alfa needed one. You want me to find out where he got it from?
  3. the manager at HPC is a good friend of mine. I havent got the bill yet. the price list is herehttp://www.hpcoatings.co.nz/PriceList/tabid/32273/Default.aspx The quality of the coating is top notch. and i dont think my clutch and brake master cylinders would withstand the heat from the new exhaust and turbo, without the coating. looking forward to firing the motor up!
  4. got some hot bits back from HPC fingers crossed the ball starts to roll a bit quicker.
  5. smalll update, ive got some 'hot bits' at HPC getting a their Xtreme Thermal coating. and I recieved a package from OS member 'mjrstar' the other day. woot Evo4 injectors.
  6. intake manifold test fitted yesterday. and the thermostat housing is now at the back of the block. Tim has done a fantastic job of re-routing and welding the water line. the exhaust manifold has been chopped and re-welded, so there is more clearance by the steering box.
  7. Tim and Dave both working on the car. the old intake is off and the new multi point is going on as soon as a few clearance issues are sorted. Battery may end up in the boot.
  8. the car has been moved from Woolf, down to TTT Auto Engineering. we pushed the car down Dominion Road. Tim at TTT should be working on fixing up the exhaust manifold today. so from: to here: after months of no work on the car, i am hoping that we get this thing fired up soon!
  9. Yeah, I've still got the old airbox/airflow meter. The old loom is still in the car. The car should be getting some work done on it in the next coming weeks. One decision we need to make is weather to use the old loom and splice into it or full rewire. If the old loom isn't needed I'll get in touch.
  10. the Nats are in May. I hope like hell i have the car going by then. I cant comit just yet, but i would like to head down. I will see closer to the time.
  11. not much of an update. the car is back at Woolf and we are going to send it down to Tim at TTT Auto Engineering to massage the manifold and do the ECU install and a few of the other odd jobs. looking forward to pushing my car down Dominion Rd to get to TTT, rather than paying for another tow truck. I got the intake manifold off Sheepers Inc. it just needed a lug welded to it for the throttle cable. there was a spare lug on the manifold, so that was cut off and welded back on. it even has the right thread for the bolt.
  12. I thought i was not going to make it (i had some other stuff to go to). and the Sigma isnt anywhere near going. but after a txt from a mate that needs a driver for his car and a chat to the wife its all go. looking forward to meeting you guys.
  13. i cant wait till this thing helps smash some world records and I can say 'thats my old/new throttle' make it happen UJ!
  14. so the turbo placement is still not sorted...... but will be soon I hope. lame update. i brought a valve off Trademe. piston was munted so new bits from Cameron at Racepro (its going to be plumbed back). and i sandblasted the crap red paint off. dont know if i want to polish or repaint the body of it. hopefully the next update will be me saying the manifold is sorted.
  15. pictureless update. and total pain in the arse. the turbo is sitting too close to the steering box (we are guessing that the turbo/manifold will hit the steering with the natural movement of the engine). so it looking like the easiest thing to do is to remake the manifold. from scatch. it only needs to move over by 10mm or so. but as far as i can see redoing the manifold is the only option. to the car will need to get towed to Woolf so they can sort it.
  16. i got a piston spinner tool from repco, well i actually got my wife to go get it. you are welcome to borrow it. i was having a nightmare spinning my VW rear pistons, i tried heaps of things, grooved bits of metal, pliers, etc. but the tool was a lifesaver. it fits on the end 3/8th ratchet chur Jono
  17. cheers, after googling the shit out of 'down sides of heat wrapping exhaust manifolds'. it looks like i am not going to wrap the manifold. i would be rather fucked of if the manifold cracked due to the pipes getting to hot and metal crystalizing and going brittle.
  18. ive heard sone of the down sides of wrapping an exhaust manifold is that it can cause the pipes crack or rust like buggery. what i was planing on doing to my exhaust manifold is: heat treatments, to stress releive the manifold. HPC to coat the manifold then wrap the manifold. should i wrap or not wrap?
  19. so ive got a bit of 3inch ally pipe. then give the pipe to sheepers to do this. and seriously good workmanship, would trade again A+
  20. . . yup, Mr Philip Weston was right (is he ever wrong) the compressor housing will need to be turned so its facing the up/the right way. (hopefully its as easy as pulling the massive circlip and rotating........) also the wastegate actuator will need to be relocated..... as it mounts to the compressor housing at the moe. and .
  21. thats what i was trying to tell them. i dont think they listen to me, cos i turn up dressed in my fancy work clothes. next time i'll turn up with with my overalls on and hands covered in oil.
  22. i did think of that kind of setup as i was typing the last response. it could just work/be a pain in the arse to change spark plugs. but that is cool.
  23. did you? i cant remember (i have an appalling memory). and it doesnt work low mounting it. the turbo gets a bit close to the alternator and the intake is too close the the radiator pipe. will probably have to remount the wastegate actuator as well, but thats easy. i am thinking it will be a top mount and run it close to the brake resivoir. headers, and dump pipe will be HPC coated and then wrapped. then some sort of heat sheild made up. i really dont want to have to get another turbo........ but it maybe easier.
