Hey bro, i made my seat pan out of steel. It was bloody rough, (look in my build thread) so we put a layer of yoga mat over the whole thing to smooth it out, and put two layers where I sit. That is all in place with ados contact adhesive. Then the cover was sewn into the appropriate shape and then glued on with the same glue, wrapped over the edges by an inch or so and glued there too. My mrs dad did it, (he is an upholsterer) and my name was mud haha it was seriously hard for him to hold it in all the places it needed to be held but it came out sweet!
  3. Bullshit! Its equally as cold in New Plymouth and I went for an epic hoon on my 650 last night at dusk. We used to ride the port hills in chch in the dark in july! Moral: Its never too cold for a ride!
  4. Just sunday. Gold coin entry I think
  5. This Sunday at Manfield. Is anyone racing or going along to watch? I'll be there running Lightning McQueen.
  6. Haha cheers man! Its been a while since I've worked on it so I don't think it got mentioned once at nats! One day I would like to design and build race cars for a living, but I have a lot of learning to do yet on my own projects before I could do that. Dad and I have just finished building a race car from a 95 mustang. I've read a few suspension tuning books so I've got a good grip on the theories, but i've found it really all comes together once you start driving it (and I've only raced it once so still alot of learning to go!) Its not until you have a drive and feel what the car is doing, make some changes and see the improvements in feel and lap times, thats when you start to do the real learning. As I said, I've only driven it once and I've already got big ideas for the next round of improvements!
  7. I found that corner quite challenging too. You have to go really deep into the corner before you turn and get a really late apex to get good drive onto the straight. Quite easy in the mustang to turn in a little too early and end up understeering out of the corner over the ripple strip and into the dirt haha
  8. I'm interested to know which corner too. I was racing in the NZGT's at that meeting as well, my first time racing ever.

Chris doesn't know what he's doing! Its the fact that he does it anyway that makes it awesome!
  10. Seriously wanting to ride my CB after seeing all that!
  11. Did a little more tonight, the seam which attaches the bulkhead to the inner wing had got a little bit of rust in behind and had cracked along its length, I undstiched the spot welds and only had to cut an inch for the flange to come off. So I've gone ahead and seam welded it directly together. I have also made a start on de-guttering the bulk head, it was looking like crap and seems to be a place where moisture collects so I'm getting rid of it.
  12. I haven't got any further with the body work since the last update but I bought some seats of Lee a few weeks back. Sat them in there last night and the gravity of just how small this car is started to sink in... Will probably run them quite close together to give plenty of helmet clearance for a roll cage across the top of the door, then maybe have a hydraulic handbrake on the door side of the seat... maybe... dunno, just thinking out loud at the moment. 13. nice plate! next mod?
  14. I don't quite think those photos do it justice, it all seems to work well in real life The speedo is a bit high but I can't get that one any lower, it kind of gives an effect all of its own though haha and gives me something to tuck in behind for the speed record attempts Only real cosmetic change from here is the exhaust wrap which I ran out of time to do and maybe one day change the speedo. Oh and a better brake lever and braided line. I got some pins for my denim vest yesterday at the festival, but my fiance has failed wife test number 4 and has no needle and thread to stitch on my patches...
  15. Well its been a huge couple of days... Spent something like 12 or so hours in the shed yesterday with dad trying to get it ready for the poker run on the bikes blues and hot cars festival today. Got it close to going, just a few things to finish off this morning, couldn't get the new brake master cylinder to bleed up properly, think it might be the wrong size bore, so went back to the original, but it doesn't seem to be working that well now either. The open pipes are awesome, not stupid loud, but plenty roudy. Still a little bit of tuning to go for the pods, its not quite there on the pilot jet or screw, will tinker with that later. Anyway, pics since its mostly finished now
  16. Teaser update with no pics or real info haha Got my seat from the upholsterer and picked up my tank today, looks awesome! Will post pics when the bike is finished. Hopefully tomorrow!
  17. Also needs some fluoro patterned duraseal to go on the seat tube
  18. I don't have time to paint the part that will be arriving tomorrow because the engine MUST go in the frame tomorrow. But apparently it should be black anyway. Fingers crossed it doesn't look like shit, otherwise I'll have to pull it out again later.
  19. Looks like Econohonda is going to save the day again. Parts are on the way!
  20. Disaster! Tightening up the cotter pins that hold the rocker shafts, doing it properly, torque wrench and all... CRACK... Head cover/rocker holder fucked... Have to call Econohonda back in the morning, hopefully they have one. Deadline is getting really tight now...
  21. your BMW lacks leather and a clutch
  22. Was in the shed till 11 last night. Managed to get my head on and torqued up. Just need to grab a smaller torque wrench from dads to do the timing gear tonight and then paint it. To do by Friday (for bikes blues & hot cars): Assemble timing gear/cam/etc paint engine install engine modify loom to fit new battery box mount tail light mount indicators make rear mudguard fill all fluids (brakes/forks/engine etc) tank/seat/etc back together Going to be a couple of late nights...
  23. Looks like a good base! Shame it looks to have those gay CV carbs
  24. Where from chris? Just bunnings/mega10?
