  1. Picked these up today!!! I'm absolutely stoked, pics dont do em any justice (the orange is alot brighter)! hahaha but what you guys think? Discuss //oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=21682&start=40 Chur, Tai
  2. Soo Haven't had the time to get any work done on the intake manifold lately, been caught up with work, summer soccer and rwc stz. Also still waiting on the powdercoated wheels to get done, gave the guys a call today and he said the bands are done and unfortunately they don't have any of the orange I requested and I have to pay an extra $40 for them to get the orange in. 3kgs I think is the smallest quantity they can get and only about 1kg will be needed for the wheels Looks like i'll have to find other shit to powder coat that colour unless someones keen on buying some off me haha Anyway here's a pic of the flange/spacer that was watercut the other week. Also a huge thanks to Andrew, Chickity and Chris for getting my Roofracks up to Auckland. Absolutely stoked about em Just need to make a minor adjustment to either the front or back legs as it doesn't quite sit flush then i'll need to sort out some suction cups and they should be good to go. Was lazy and couldnt be bothered taking the covers off my Mirage to show you the potential of the roofracks but here's some pics anyway. The size is perfect and will probably leave em in the same condition (flaking/rusty creamy coloured paint). Chur, Tai.
  3. May have the wrong bulbs in aswell.
  4. Sweet could pick it up tomorrow if that's sweet. Will PM him, thanks.
  5. Cheers Andrew, Chickity and Chris for bringing my roofracks up! Probably cant pick it up until this sat if thats all good? Will bring round a box of brew or equivalent cash if you prefer, whats your poison? Cheers!
  6. Yea If noone from Auckland has any room for the roofrack thats all good, will just have it freighted up however there will be a box/cash for the GC who can get it up though! Cheers
  7. Pictureless up date, boring I know... Well those Hoshino wheels I got a while back that I attempted to paint are now at Hibiscus Coast Powdercoaters (we're the cheapest on the North Shore). Decided I'd rather get them powder coated as I couldn't really get the paint in between all the edges n shiiet so left it to the pros. Have gone with the same orange I used but I'm getting the bands done in satin black. Pretty crazy but I think they'll come out choice as, will be different from the typical silver/black/gold center and polished lip combo anyway. Also got a 25mm flange/spacer water-cut at One Stop Cutting in Silverdale. Tis for the intake manifold as I'm adapting a larger throttle body. Hopefully I can get the intake manifold sussed out this week but will see what happens. Tai.
  8. Beaver will also be bringing up my roofrack. Can someone please bring it up to Auckland. Will pay for gas/beverages to any GC that does. chur, Tai
  9. Cheers guys. Would be mint to come down to Hawkesboes but cant get time off work and would only be able to come down for the Saturday (work friday, sunday and monday). Yo Beaver do you reckon it may be sweet to pick em up and hold onto em for me til I sort shit out? Will let you know what the dealio is by about monday-tuesday ish. Pretty much the mantis if you can!
  10. Some where in Lower Hutt I believe. Tis an auction that ends on Saturday so when I win I will get more details. Still awaiting dimensions but is off a morris minor (I think) so wouldnt be too big. Cheers
  11. YO! Anyone in Wellington coming up to Auckland soon with space for some old school roof racks or able to pick em up and send them to me? Otherwise Hawkesboes is coming soon and perhaps someone kind fellow from Welly could bring it up to hawkesboes and have someone else cart it back to Auckland? Will be a box of your choice/money for said brews for whoever can help get it up to me! Cheers guys
  12. Nah mate, i'll ask the guy for you though. Tai.
  13. Boring update.. Exhaust leak was fixed a while back then a missfire developed which was solved by new plugs and leads. Only got some standard leads but will be ordering in some 8.8mm ones later and get an MSD ignition coil. Oh and decided to give it a clean.. A very high pitch annoying rattle has been fucking me off and found out its coming from inside the muffler. Think its time to get ride of the bore and get a nice twinpipe to tidy it up a little. Will also be getting it up on the hoist sometime shortly to find out how much I can cut off the coils to drop it! Chur.
  14. Not a real update as i've done fuck all due to lack of funds, however I now work at the Whangaparoa Repco branch so will be getting a bit of cash flow to feed the beast, Oh yea also if anyone's after anything that Repco provides let me know and i'll price you up a good deal. Any ways all that i've really done is strip out the poo brown interior of my Mirage and begun to replace the BLAAACK jap spec interior. It's all in need of a good clean though so I will get some pictures of it once ive wiped it all up and vacuumed the shit outta it. Apart from that I've made up new plugs for the fender mirror electrics wiring and hooked them up to the centre console and the battery off my Swift. All the directional controls work so I am stoaked! pretty damn slow though I've also re-electroplated (hopefully) the last batch of shit for the engine. Thanks to Aircooled's picture of a Mirage out at Pickapart Takanini, I shot out there today just in time to steal the bumpers and some other little bits and pieces. Was so lucky because just as I started to remove the bumper one of the employee's came to forklift it out to crush it ! Have ordered an alloy rod and am about to get a plate cut so I can start to convert the standard intake manifold to a multipoint fuel injection set up. Measured it all up and everything should all fit up snug. There will only be a few mil clearance of the fuel rail and throttle body and the injectors will only JUST fit. Tis gonna be a mish. Tai.
  15. Herald Island isnt really North Shore but yea could check it out if Chris cant
  16. Give Tony Lynch a call 021971612. Hes got a 1uz sitting in a MK1 escort at his workshop right now and he also just slipped one into a Chevette earlier this year. GC with over 45 years experience/knowledge.
  17. Turns out BNT forgot to order the exhaust manifold gasket yesterday so now I won't be sorting it til Sunday. If you cancel out the rude exhaust leak crackle it sounds grunty with a nice deep rumble. Pretty over otp loud exhaust setups every since the 4" dumpy on my old Mirage haha
  18. Sussed out the leaky water pump, belts and tensioner now so there's nothing to worry about any more (unsure of the service history). Heat wrapped the extractors and bolted em up. The bloody flange doesn't line up flush with the engine causing an exhaust leak tearing the gasket to shreds. Now I've got to mill back the flange to get it lined up right and shut it up. Due to this the extractors aren't working to their full potential but there is definitely more torquey around 2500-4000rpm. Being the noob that I am at heat exhaust wrapping (first time), I followed guides on the net which told me to put a heat resistant silicone coat on, which I did. Probably wasn't the smartest idea as it basically just burnt straight off smoking up the engine bay like crazy with a rude as stench to it. Also threw a Simota air filter on and brake-cleaned the shit out of the box and engine (still need to attack it with another can or two but so far I can't find any leaks which is preeemo!). Gonna suss out the exhaust tomorrow. Here's some better pics of the beast.. Contemplating selling this due to a shift of plans so if anyone's interested let me know. After around 2.2k. If I hold onto it I'm gonna repaint the bumpers, side skirts and spoiler black to make it bause. Chur.
  19. What's the legalities & regulations of towing a vehicle ie. with a rope. E.g. Does the towie have to be a certain length away from the towing vehilce? Does the towie have to have the hazard lights on whilst being towed? Max speeds? ect. Always wondered what the actual regulations were.
  20. Minor update.. Started stripping the interior today and sorted out what I will be keeping and what's going to the tip. Didn't get a lot done though as the NZ u20's all whites had a game this morning and the Warriors played as well (fucking premo win btw). That is all. Tai
  21. Ahh yea I've heard about that gladwrap way but have yet to try it. Oh yea make sure you wear gloves when working with the paintstripper, stings like a cunt if it gets onto the skin!
  22. Cheers bro, attempted to dab white paint over the lettering but the paint would just run off into the gaps. Was thinking about sanding back the lettering>polishing it up and clear coating it but i really can't be arsed. Looks alright and i'm happy with it! haha Edit: Also if you're slack and can't be bothered waiting out the 1-2days for the paint to cure, throw it on gently and fire up the engine. Leave it running for 20mins or so or take it for a good drive and it should bake on well.
