  1. So, enough of the shithouse updates, here's something decent. It aint perfect, but it is red and shiny!
  2. So Christmas is gone and so are the hols so... Managed a bit of work, nothing major but even a little progress is nice at the moment. Mounted Andrews seat. Cheers fella! Sorted a position for the shifter higher and further back than stock and uses the stock E46 stuff. Also, because of the unknown age and specs of me poor old welder, I did some destructive testing on some tube with 3mm wall. So with 2.5mm wall cage steel I think we're all good for weld strength. Finally, anyone care to critique my cage landings? Thinking maybe they protrude too far from the sill?
  3. Turps will melt the poly also without quite the same fumy yukkyness. Will leave residue though.
  4. Some more pics of the project that never seems to get anywhere New flares
  5. But aren't the V8SCs putting it under the floor? Not that I have a better reason than 'it would give me the shits'.
  6. Just seems a bad idea to me. Would rather not sit in a cabin with a bin full of gas/fumes.
  7. cletus for president. Super usefull bloke to have around.
  8. Just quickly Are side exhausts legal if they exit on the drivers side behind the rear most opening window??
  9. Mucking around with a few things lately. Painted and polished the front bumpers so should be ready to get a mould off them. Working on the rear bumper buck. Filled some more holes Finally got the gearbox back in after replacing the input shaft bearing And pissed about with this for a while Also bits and pieces like fuel lines, proper brackets for the front end blah blah.
  10. Have been working on these. A little tricky to see the detail so here's a close might help.
  11. Glad to see the back of that to be honest. Now, bumpers.
  12. Thanks fella. Great to see the Esky at the track too. Awesome work.
  13. Well, well. Two days, two updates. First side came together reallly slowly but the other side was much better. Still some trimming to do and not quite sure if the size of the hole is right yet, but showing some potential. To spotlight or not to spotlight, that is the question.
  14. Painfully slow progress In other new, I have now a set of these to refurb.
  15. Different? Looks like a million an' one dragracer wanna be's from the eighties lol.
  16. Try and clear this up. 1 Probably not unless it can flow at least 12cfm/min. Hire one for a day if you need to. 2 Yup. I bought a half decent one on sale for about $120. The really cheap ones are horribly inconsistent. 3 Use Acrylic Lacquer. If you can prep a car with primer you should be able to manage the colour. The reason it's easy is that it is half dry when it hits the panel. Because 2k is a chemical reaction to dry, it stays 'thin' untill it starts to cure. This gives it far more time to form runs. 4 4lts of colour and 6 ltrs (+a ltr for clean up) thinners should do a little car like an Anglebox. 5 ? 6 Only need a clear coat for metallics. The reason is that you cant polish a metallic paint because you will polish through different layers of metal flakes and it will end up blotchy. Hence, give it clear and then polish through a paint (clear) that has the same consistency through out. Applies to both 2k and single pack. Tips (acrylic lacquer) Orange peel is better than runs. It flat sands out if you think you have too much. Runs are very difficult to sand out entirely. Work from the top down kinda like cleaning a car. Roof first/boot/bonnet around car. Try to avoid overspray settling on already painted surfaces. Tricky. Take your time getting the paint on and you should be able to continue to paint till you've almost run out (save some for touch ups). Allow it to dry for at least 7 days before touching it with polish. If it ha too much orange peel (likely) wet sand with 2000 wet&dry before buffing. Hand polish ridges/corners ect to avoid polishing through the paint. Acrylic lacquer is a bit softer than 2 pack paints, so it's easier to scratch but seems a bit better for stone chips, and is softer under a hot sun. But it's easy to work with, you can pull up a great shine from it and it served as the dominant paint for years among manufactures. One of the main reasons it's not used anymore is that the fumes released are a bit crook for the old air quality. Environmentals ect. It's banned in many cuntry's. Have a go(maybe on an old panel?).
  17. Fixed. Choppy choppy muffler, it's a left over from the 330 so.... Also, yeah Heath, thats the idea.
  18. Ha. Gunna need some work though. Nothing like chopping up a $1k+ muffler...
