  1. Took the beast for a test drive tonight. Going to be a few things to fix to make this beast legal. The front wheels are rubbing epically. So going to have to raise the ride height a bit to get enough clearance for some steering. Fuel Gauge Doesn't Seem to be working, either that or the tank is massive. Thirty Bucks doesn't buy much go juice these days. Shocks are shagged, will find something a bit stiffer to handle to drop and hopefully get it riding a bit better. And jesus that sticker on the front windscreen is horrendous but I might just leave it there for the time being. Live the thug life dream.
  2. Ten Five dropped me a text this morning, he's got some chrome rings off the set of steels he got for the president. Going to grab them and see whether they'll fit these steels.
  3. Well conveniently... Your driveway...
  4. ATM planning on leaving the wheels satin black, Which was the easiest available colour that wasn't gloss, on my lunch break. Hopefully will find some chrome trim rings to offset the black out. I have found a cheap supply of whitewalled tyres but they are only in 15 Inch sizes. Closest being a 205/70 R15 which has a rolling diameter of an inch more than the current wheels. This will cause epic rub at the current height, so some messing around in the future will be needed to try and suss something out there.
  5. Discussion- http://www.oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewto ... 18&t=32844 So since Yowzer has too many crowns and projects already, I have kindly taken the MS110, he has recently acquired as a part swap for my old MS65. And we have been working hard over the last week to get it up to a reasonable standard. I got told I needed a more appropriate car for when my little boy arrives, but the only detail that was offered was that it needed four doors. So BAM slammed to shit MS110 shall do the trick. Anyway I shall just steal Yowzers posts on the subject and add them to this thread for now.
  6. Stop Leak works really well for minor leaks as a stop gap. And i do mean minor. But under a high load situation such as a burn out competition, I would not be taking that risk. Not for a healthy engine. The chance of completely toasting it is very high....
  7. Will be there, Yowzer remind me this is happening...
  8. Double Shame on those who chose the gym over OS awesomeness... To all other waikato residents, see you next time. Many Thanks to Yowzer for the sweet BBQ and organisation...
  9. Technically it would come under a loop hole as KK says, if it's glass or a non suitable replacement, perspex, plastic etc, then it has to meet a proper safety standard. But you could in theory weld in a permanent piece of steel, (would have to be permanent) and this would then not be counted as glazing. I've had to pass a shitty ass Mazda 323 that had this done to the quarter window on a hatch back. My Boss is a LVVTA certifier and WOF inpsector and I spent a good hour searching the VIRM to disprove him and fail it but had to agree with him in the end. It does then come under general safety items and has to be free of sharp edges etc. But in reality, its ugly and I very much did not want to pass it at all. And think you should avoid it.
  10. For a few many years VTNZ and other places used to muck up cars when they were being reregistered and put incorrect first registration dates on the system. I've seen many cars like this, we do alot of warrants for a vintage car restorer in TA and he has a few cars that have suffered from this. If you can prove it and persist with enough effort I'm sure you could get it changed but as with everything with the NZTA you will need to hound them with repetitive phone calls and most likely will be the luck of the draw of finding someone with the authority and the patience to deal with it. Good Luck. Worth a shot I guess.
  11. They must get a few people approaching them for it if it's just sitting on the front lawn... Proably sick of people hassling them about it...
  12. Hey silly question but do you know where I can find steering rack mounting bushes for one of these bad boys. I've got a '86 N/A one and I tried everyone, even Nissan and even they told me they couldn't help. Pretty sick of my rack sliding side to side. Anyway always good to see a solid build like this, it motivates me to try and keep tidying mine up.
  13. WINTEC Free. But you gotta know someone who knows someone or be doing a course.
  14. 1FZ... Now that sounds sweet... They must be relatively hard to come buy though, coming from landcruisers. I like the sound of that over a 2JZ, keen on something a bit different.
  15. Well i'm in no hurry for the JZ conversion, will keep an eye out for a sump set up, not 100% sure where I wanna head. So not going to even consider a Altezza 1G, bit better down low in the Altezza then the 3S but still a pretty average engine, especially for a fat heavy crown. Don't want to do a UZ because 1 there's more motors in the world then god damn UZ's, and 2 I want a nice clean, tidy conversion, and I don't think a wide UZ tilted and messed around to fit will do it for me. Probably going to stick that 5me in it to get it moving then aim for a 2jz in the future. But I still reckon the 5VZ-FE could be an option.
  16. Not keen on turbo set up, especially as an auto. Can't stand turbo set up's on a cruiser / daily, they just don't have the drive ability needed. Would prefer a bigger capacity NA set up. I'm a fan of keeping it in the family. I ain't gonna whack a Gm motor in my Toyota. What car's came out with the Mid sump Jz's?
  17. I've got a 1JZ sitting in the shed but think i'd rather sell it for a 2J. Doesn't sound like the most reliable engine in the world. They are expensive engines go for anywhere between 1 and 2.5k. Pretty keen to keep the crowns lush column shift auto bench seat arrangement. Are you finished with the 4M in your wagon by any chance Spencer?
  18. Was looking in the engine bay of a Toyota Granvia the other day and thought that it's engine would fit quite nicely in my crown. Same as late surfs, prados etc Has anyone seen these motors put in anything else? 3.4L V6, looked to be a 60 Degree, should go alright. Or are these motors heaps of shit and should I not waste my time. .... Thoughts?
  19. Oh sweet, ill tell Yowzer that cause he's got gallons of waste oil lying around our place.
  20. Bastard car doesn't like being threatened to be sold. I was happily cruising along on my way to work this morning, approaching the round about in Te Awamutu, about 50km/h. Put the foot down on the brake. Floor. Fuck. Holden. Fuck. Yanked the handbrake, that didn't do jack shit. Swerved right and managed to avoid any collision and pumped that bitch until i got some pedal and stopped. Anyway master cylinder is now bypassing and I've official decided single circuit master cylinders suck ass. As does my handbrake. It's the 1st time in my life I've ever been glad there were road works, gave me enough room to save my ass. Will now be upgrading my insurance from 3rd party, Fire and Theft to Full.
  21. Oh mint, I'll look them up and give them a ring. Always handy to find bits. Yeah there's a million 18Rs and found 20 and 22Rs as well.
  22. As you can see the dash is all out at the moment, what a mission. Trying to find a replacement speaker which is not proving easy. 18 x 12cm. Probably going to get the dash pad remade while the dash is all out. Replacing all the little bulbs in the gauges and trying to sort the noise the fans making.
  23. Right now trying to sus out the odometer and tripmeter. Pretty sure all the little gears in the plates between the wheels are fucked as it keeps slipping. Does anyone have any spare corona speedos lying around, tried pulling apart my ke speedos I have lying around, which are actually quite different. I don't know if that has anything to do with being in KPH instead of MPH or just because it's a lower grade model. Yowzers crown speedo is different again as well, makes finding parts a real pain in the ass.
