  5. unbolt whatever is at the top? What kind of car?
  6. So a guy from Taupo gets in touch, He's restoring his Mk 1 Avenger (Have learnt in the UK they refer to them as Mk1's & Mk2's for the Classic shape & Chrysler / Later shape) Has misplaced some very important Plastic pieces for the accelerator peddle & would I mind checking my 'stock' So I Send him images of these two (Brown 72 1500 & Blue 76 GLS Apline) and this location of the stuff he might need and my Accelerator pedal for comparison Man says YEP the green bits & oh my yours have already been lost, I had seen the "U shackles" before & thought thye were not right and they allow a fair bit of slop but are working for now so I can spare at least one set of Bushes / set of 5 plastic pieces he needed then he sent me an image of his car Oh LOL TWINS! Auto even SO I get to stripping, the easiest one, instructions were remove the seat & steering wheel to get better access Jobs already half done on this one Figure while I'm at it might as well strip a few other goodies out of it Headlight switches, What does the internal turner do? (serious never had one or played with a working one) Lol Shear bolts on Ign 'not sheared' Dash not bad, lol no rev counter in Manual? not even a Clock! Light fitting in the glove box! What is this madness! (checked My GLS & it only has a 'hole') So dash out & rescue these parts, so at least I know how to get them out of the brown car should my U shackles fail Might be worth 3d Printing some one day though not expensive from UK from the sounds of it Back of the Dash 31? or 13 got looking at the Dash & LOL 4 digit Odometer? WTF (turn screen) So I have a thought as my Coolant temp gauge is iffy & my Volt meter had lost its lettering why not rob / swap some parts over was Simple enought, 1st test drive I had forgotten to plug speedo back in LOL even from the same year its crazy to note the differences on the back Mine is the Left Blue car / donor is the right so yeah, Coolant temp works better now & My Volt Gauge says" Volts" and I figured out why the Handbrake warning light doesn't work : there is not circuit in the loom for it! may get around to that one day

  12. SO I know of one of these there need to investigate a tad further , how would I identify the Gear bag should is still exist? good ol Wiki says : Transmission 4-speed A40D automatic 5-speed W55, W58, T50 manual uless someone knows something I dont? the last w55 I had in my possession I gave away (unknown condition)
  13. yeah, car already kinda has the setup just never operational (bit like the Nut behind the Wheel just unsure of how effective the hyrdo system is in it etc (willwoods may require upgrade or bias valve too
  14. mechanically speakign is it possible to fit the above brake system to the Avenger / with drum brakes? (not so much a cert Q soz) vs the cable click click etc?
  15. 50:50 just want it to go vs doing it right hence doing homework even before tearing it apart while it still moves in 1st & second (and R)
  16. oh GOD the science, I'm hooked!! yea Wagon Diff's are 4.11 (low ratio for hauling) good for Rally application, to to stressed about the rear end for now as you point out tires make a difference, pretty sure i have a 3.9 diff currently (welded / locked solid) Richard aka @Avenga has mentioned he's had his 1500 Avenger to 200kph on Puke with the Sierra 5 speed (not sure which gear, & similar setup cams & build) so yea you have a great point there, keen for something tweakable at some stage or get a setup thats not going to limit me to re-using 40 year old gear sets / stuff that's rusting & rotting in my back yard shoot could put it over a bank 2 days after (whenever) its done / Whariti Hillclimb is February kinda my goal at the moment (NZ Longest Gravel Hillclimb!
  17. I'm ok with this Happy / half my intention of thread is to discuss the 5 speeds option for any 4 speed upgrade ratio's for me are not really an issue currently, just the mecanics
  18. still the actual Plan, wander down to WIlf's #RIP yard or any other wrecker & scrounge a t50 toyota shell for $200, get clutch, box maybe pedals & bits & sell rest to foamers & get Rich to this then stare at it for anther 5 years the CR stuff mentioned was in the Avenger Gearbag Miles was using and Craig Dino in Chch in his Blue one he's also using a type 9 in his white one any t50 would not be 'built' until I break it as well wouldn't stress about the w50 for now cheers, mans allowed to dream
  19. Hmm sounds like a goer / proven at least
  20. B Bell housing tho (Of B/C Fame) worth it just for that I potentially to collectors, cant be many of those around still (NZ Made Speed parts what sort of stuff required to make that work, figure "just" right diameter Toy Clutch & spacers / shaft output? Literally learning from Zer0 here
