  1. Anybody got any knowhow with these engines? Mate has a P10 primera with one of these engines, its a single point injection setup, never seen one before and thought it was carby till I took the air filter off. It was working fine until a few days ago, then the injector stopped spraying fuel, its getting fuel though (didnt have a multimeter on me so couldnt check if the injector was getting a pulse)
  2. engine check light could be speed sensor for gearbox not connected? Have a similar problem with the townace, ECU packs a sad because it doesnt get a speed sensor reading and throws on the check light after bout 15min driving too
  3. So went from looking like this to this Good to have it fixed as I can wind the adjustables back down now Have had a electric thermometer probe mounted in the intake for the last couple off days to see what the intake temps are like. Theres little room for the intake and pod filter under the seat so it sits behind the radiator. Intake temps range from 28degrees up to 52 degrees Temps that high cant be good for performance or fuel economy so Im after ideas for a decent cold air intake. Was thinking of throwing one of these ricey filters in there with some ducting rigged up to the factory cold air intake that runs from the bumper up the passengers chassis rail to where the 2C-T airbox used to be. Found these shiny brake discs that will be a straight fit on so will look at getting some when I have the coin http://www.dcperformance.co.uk/cheap/343915/toyota/nitrac-drilled-and-grooved-front-brake-discs/nbd275d.html
  4. Has anybody had any experience with these? http://www.nitrac.co.uk/
  5. Cheers for the info boys Got a silly idea in my head to find a lux like this http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/Toyota/Hilux/auction-296174412.htm Fit 1kzte with intercooler and 3" exhaust + LSD for speedy economical daily/parts hauler
  6. Will look into all of this, finding a manual 1kz bellhousing could be hard and expensive. There are engines sold on trademe with auto bellhousings, could one these be of any use?
  7. yea hiace vans come 1kz and manual but a van gearbox would be unsuitable as I require floor change whereas van gearboxes are cable shifted
  8. Has anybody done this or have an idea on how to do it? Reason I ask is that pretty much all 1kz engines have an auto or 4wd box behind them so no factory 2wd gearboxes that I know of W55 with an adapter? Do they share a common bellhousing pattern with another toyota engine?
  9. Guessing you had an interview for the job today? Was just comming back into the depot and saw the lancer leaving

  14. Gen 2 3sgte? What ya wanting 4 it? Unsure how wide the estima diff is, havnt got round to doing a measure yet will let you know though
  15. So bout a month ago she started using water, motor had only done 28000kms since a rebuild so wasnt sure what to expect when I ripped the head off. Turns out the head had electrolysis and the water jackets had turned to swisscheese round #1 and #2, got the head welded and all back together and some drumstick decided to do this. 4wd on the inside lane of a roundabout drifted into my lane and gave the van a kiss, the dropkick took off before I could get his numberplate so got a lovely insurance excess to pay now. Has now developed a slight miss, plugs lead dizzy and rotor are all new. The heads been skimmed twice now im guessing so the compression ratio is bumped a bit, the plugs are BKR6ES-11 do I need hotter plugs or retard the timing a bit?
  16. unsure on kms was rebuilt 28000km ago and everything looks mint except the head
  17. Whipped the head off today and it turns out the heads corroded to shit around 1 and 2 cylinder water galleries. Time for a new head
  18. The van has started using water Oil doesnt seem milky under the cap or on the dipstick and theres no vapour or moisture coming from the exhaust even when its cold so I wonderinging where its going, the only fishy thing is a bit of milky vapour coming from the breather on the catch can. Engine is a Gen2 3sge
  19. You can find them in estima vans and 4x4 townaces, some estima vans come disk braked too Factory lsd options are easy like with hilux diffs and altezza torsen diff centers can be swapped into them
  20. Thought about using a F series diff instead of a hilux diff?
  21. These are the shizz!
  22. Diff is a diskbraked F series from an estima, just need a altezza torsen center now. Got the hiace for the 5 stud front hubs and brakes, plan is to fit them with supercustom disks as they are bigger than std hiace ones (300mm) and the nissan 4pots. Stripping the rest of the van to finance the diff conversion Will be 5 stud all round after the brake and diff swap so will roll on these till I find suitable rims, any suggestions on rim choice? Should stop plenty good with new brakes and go sideways with new diff Will I need to upgrade the brake master cylinder with the new brakes since there bigger?
