  1. Nice! I drove an ex NZ army one once, took about 12km to get to 95kmh, and about the same to stop again. I miss my 4wd now
  2. Haha, yeh im sure volvo would be SUPER keen! What is the stud pattern on these here Volvo's any how??
  3. I would love to boso it, and it wouldnt be that hard to do, its just the cost of the wheels would be crazy, dish is not cheap! Could put the wheels on backwards I guess?
  4. I love boso shit, this is what Volvo would look like if I had some $$ to waste! (yes its done on MS paint, photoshop is for pussies and people that have photoshop) Would it be a crime to boso a non-jappa ya reckon?
  5. I put a gauge on the old girl and shes pulling up to 12 pounds of boost, any more then that and it cuts, im guessing factory boost is about 5 or 6 pound? Also ABS light keeps coming on, can this be caused by poor bleeding or have I upset a sensor while fixing the brakes? It will pump up a few times soon after start up, then blaze the light? This only started after I put new brake line on and rebled the system. Went to a motokana on Sunday, I drove my corolla, but let a mate drive the Volvo, he did really well in it, due mainly to Volvo's mega hard core steering lock, seeing as the course was so damn tight, here are some pics of the old girl in action ...
  6. A mate of mine is slapping a 1UZFE in an old cressy, and he has been given the wrong AFM. Has anyone got any information on the diff types of AFM they came with?? From what I have found on the net, there is 3 types, the original flap type, then they went to the karmen vortex type (which I think is the most common, and what he has been given) and then they went to a Hot wire type one rite before they changed to MAP (the plug on the loom for the AFM is a lot like the ignitor plugs) and this is the one we need. His motor is a 1996 Non sequential injection from what ive been told. This make sense? So we need either a late model hot wire AFM for non sequential ECU, or a loom and sequential ECU for a Karman vortex type AFM? can anyone help or have any info? Cheers.
  7. It seems like a much better idea then dipping, as you can never really get the acid out of the sills and get the paint back in. My brothers 52 prefect was done with walnut shells! Im interested in having the corolla done with sand/glass also, as some rust work has been done b4 I owned it, and im not sure how well it was done, best to get it rite b4 you paint I guess. Not sure how they get all the dust out of the car b4 painting tho?
  8. Chur, Its not boosting a whole lot more then std so rods should be ok, like std it boosted to half way on the factory guage, now it boosts to about 4/5ths of the way round, it cuts if it gets to the end of the gauge Mate just dropped off a boost gauge, so i'll slap that on and see what its going to. And from the flat face of the manifold (against the head) to the far edge of the turbo is 180mm (give or take 5mm) Hope that helps?
  9. Well needed a brake hose and a light bulb, and bang, a WOF. So I cut the cat out and slaped a bit of tube in there, cut the whole front off the air box, and put a half ass'd boost tap on it, its made it quite a bit faster, turbo a whole lot louder, and it now makes a loud by pass/blow off valve sound. Not bad for $30. Had no exhaust and vice grips on the waste gate line for a bit, but was way to loud and boost cut all the time, but hell, it was fun!.
  10. The old volvo got some new gear, new master cylinder, brake pads, front brake kit, and a tie rod end. Brakes work sweet as now, she's all ready for a WOF. Some pics, I love how huge that factory intercooler is!
  11. Haha, trust me, they sure as hell were stuck on, so bad that it was spining the rear wheels! but they worked perfectly when cold or first use of the day sort of thing. They are working sweet as now, ABS even works! They just feel a little soft, i'll bleed them again soon, never had a car with a bleed on the master cylinder tho.
  12. Girling was the other brand! brakes seem to be fixed and working well, not totally sure what the problem was, but calipers had a lot of shit in them, gave them a clean out, a light hone and a rebuild kit and they seem to be all good. Had a look at old master cylinder and it was a bit of a mess, so couldn't have hurt to change that also. Bit of a bugger to bleed tho, but from what I have read, most volvo's are.
  13. Haha, ok, maybe its not so odd, ive seen heaps of single pot, and opposing twins, but not many one sided twin pots myself. And I believe this volvo come's with two diff brands of caliper, mine has Bendix branded ones on it, cant remember what the other brand was tho?
  14. Wholy crap, didn't realise they could look that choice! Im new to this whole Volvo owning thing, can you just bolt those fronts on? or is there a bit of moulding in needed? I love the truck front tho, its so hard core!
  15. Yeh, im going to whip off the calipers seeing as the master cylinder is already off, and have a nose (it has twin pot calipers on it, but both pots are on one side which is a bit odd?) I did notice that the top slide had a fair bit of play in it, but once again, cant see how the heat would cause them to jam? although heat may have nothing to do with it, it may be how many times you use them? Well new master cylinder will be on tonight, it better be the problem or I farked a good master cylinder!
  16. Yeh, I got old blue off tard me last week. I suspected the calipers, but when I fitted new pads (the old ones were shot, and I was hoping new pads might fix it, hehe) the pistons pushed back easy, and the brake's work sweet as for a little while, then clamp on, and I cant see how the calipers them selfs would stay on? Im thinking fluid may be getting past piston in the master cylinder, and then slowly leaking back due to the return spring? Well I hope thats what it is, cos I farked the master trying to get it apart (20 years of being rite next to a turbo aint been kind to the master cylinder) and have a new one on the way. I dont know jack about ABS units, so I hope it aint that, if i pull the ABS fuse it should stop it from doing anything I guess?
  17. I got me a 88 volvo turb's. Dont know what im going to do with it, get it road legal first i guess and then go from there. It's a 2.3L Turbo, with a HUGE factory intercooler, sunroof, ABS, P/S, heated leather seats and aircon, some of these feature's even work! its lush as fark! Will slap up some pic's soon. Just need to fix brakes, and it'll be ready to huss like a champ. Chur.
  18. Hello, got me a Volvo 740 Turbo, and the brake's are being cunts, when warm the front brake's are staying on, not totaly sure what the problem is, anyone else had similar problems with volvo brake's? Cheers.
  19. Cant believe how much better that car looks with those wheels on it, not to mention those choice as wheel spacers! This things gonna be mean chur when its done.
  20. Hehe, i had a feeling it may have been, seeing as its the same colour n all. Cant believe your selling that kit, its the koolest fiberglass thing to come from the 80's!
  21. TRD N2 kit if FARKING CHUR! Happens to be one for sale on trademe at the mo.
  22. Sweet car, and black flares would look tumeke, choice.
  23. Car looks way way better with those wheels, fucking choice bay.
