  1. I also welded new steel into several places on the front guard but my photo taking skills is absolute shit. Slow progress but unlike my usual stz it is some progress haha
  2. Drove home for the weekend and spent some time working on this. Some rust was cut out, some new bit welded in (excuse welding haha) and with a few more weekends doing the same thing it will be ready for paint. I dont have photos of the other side but it was waaaay worse than below, I just need to weld in a small filler piece to seal it up and then paint it up all nice like. Below is basically the last bit to fix, It looks super bad inside the sill from this pic but its not actually that shitty IRL. The previous owner has welded in a 3mm plate in the front edge of the sill that might need to come out depending on how nice I am feeling, it is mostly covered by a piece of stainless trim so I dont really care. Holy Giant shitty pics batman. Also working on this again made me super happy haha, I really want to drive the piss out of it soooon/dreaming. I may also need Mr Upholstery/Gregs help once it is on the road for ultimate lushness.
  3. Wel then thats even more of a bonus. More boost!
  4. To have a turbo small enough (compressor side) for a well boosted compound setup is going to be blowing some pretty hot air if you make it work alone for max top end power. Your already making heaps of boost why not just leave them in a designed efficiency and just crank the boost through the blower more. If its a poisitve displacement setup so if you up the boost 1psi on the inlet it just means its 1psi higher at the outlet. You already have the intercooling in place to deal with it.
  5. Im applying my knowledge of physics to all of the youtube videos ive watched.
  6. note: I am just another internet warrior.
  7. If you are talking about efficiency in terms of overall loss it is going to be greater with turbo into sc setup vs a big turbo then yeah your right. But that isnt the point of the compound twincharge setup. Its about power EVERYWHERE, the best way to achieve that IMO is a well sized turbo blowing into a positive displacement blower. If you are after max power then go to Davejacksonville and buy a big assed turbo. edit: That doesnt really say what Im trying to get across. If the point of having a turbo and a blower is to do doorts then the most efficient way to compress the air is to compound charge it with intercooling between stages. You still have the same parasitic loss from the supercharger whether you compound charge it or sequential charge it so you may as well compress the air more efficiently to better make up for it. The first top bit doesnt make sense. The rest is solid
  8. Actually with 2 stage compression ie compounding setups and correct intercooling you get a more efficient compression. Yes there is a problem with cooling the charge but the physics of multiple stage compression says your statement above is wrong.
  9. tb doesnt suck in that situation. Thats the point of forced induction haha. It will blow all you boost out your airfilter
  10. He isnt. I am. Properly cool it and get more efficiency. Or just run ethanol and dont worry haha
  11. Because there are no bad things about compound charging?
  12. iknowrite I really want to put one in the Ute but as a guinea pig I'm terrible as that will be the year 2025 and Bluetooth fuel systems will be the way.
  13. I want to buy this. Seems like a great way to get rid of gross as crap surge tanks. Buy one the rough shape of your tank, run pickup through inspection hatch at top of tank. No splosions, no extra pumps, not thaat expensive. https://www.holley.com/products/fuel_systems/hydramat/ Tell me how I can be so wrong
  14. Jeeesus. Nobody in here is arguing that it is not illegal. But just because something is not legal does not automatically make it dangerous. Done with a small amount of forethought and an even smaller amount of information the process that OP is wanting to do can be done safe as houses. If a guy is going to straighten his steering arm regardless surely it is better to have a small amount of information on how to go about it rather than him just heating any metal to any temp and cooling it down in a bucket of engine oil. May as well ban Roman for putting up a cut springs tech thread and just about every member for having the wrong wheels and the wrong tyres and the wrong engines.
  15. get out of it. I think we can have a healthy discussion around why it is perceived to be so dangerous. Id rather see this type of conversation than endless dick jokes and people whinging about fake parts.
  16. That's a different argument though Roger. From a mettalurgy point of view what is so wrong?
  17. Forgot to say this is a super awesome car. Looks so right, down low on stockies
  18. did this have some big ass chromes on it a few months ago? I followed similar one out west and fizzled a long side/swooped through traffic to catch up.
  19. Off topic but do you know Joe Lynds?
  20. This is the plan. My old boy is a GC/wants that shit outta his garage/is a GC and has done most of the rust work already. I have been slowly buying the bits I need to get it road worthy and then it just a matter of paying someone to throw some green at it to make it 1 colour.
  21. Im blaming you for my current situation Kurt
  22. I was going to sell them off to pay for the other ones I bought last week. They arrived and now I don't think I can haha
  23. So these turned up to my garage yesterday. Jesse Streeter is so good to deal with! No progress as usual haha /watch this space. Not too closely but I really do need to do some BOP missions
