  1. lol guess what. You owe my mum $13.20. True story. Those trips across the Northern toll road weren't free. Accidently left the car on my mum's toll road account Rofl
  2. lol my car is already 3 speed manual column. Just that 3 gears hardly seems enough, and as richy said no over driven gear. I wonder if you could get away with a ridiculous dog leg in the shifter to get past the bench. Otherwise a simpler option would be to convert the bench to two singles. Nowhere near as cool though I wouldn't fancy another auto to be honest >. <
  3. Ooo exciting. So your car doesn't have a benchy in the front? (too lazy to check project thread on my phone). Cause that's the dilemma I face if I wanted to do something like this, the damn column shifter. Curious to see how it all turns out!
  4. Awesome! Damn I forget how tidy this car was. I miss it, should have taken it down instead of the Nissan boat I had at the time. Looking good dude.
  5. Lies, if you can weld it, then you can JB Weld it. And how much fuel is too much fuel? If its around 14L/100km then its on par with my N/A L26
  6. Was waiting for you to pop up in this thread Don't worry, at this stage the odds are slightly in 'staying in Invercargill' s' favour. I'm actually working up at the Darfield factory. The job would be a lot more demanding then my current one, for the exact same pay.
  7. Hornby would be roughly in the right location (Yaldhurst would be even better). And I do enjoy a good datsun. Hmm, would probably look to flat somewhere for a while (untill the missus sorted her shit out and moved up), but eventually would want to rent a place. Get way too accustomed to having a place to yourself to walk around naked in.
  8. So long story short, I have a pretty solid opportunity to move to the garden city in roughly a couple of months. I know the roads are currently crap, the rental property situation is currently crap, and the city itself isnt in the best of shape. Financially, it doesnt make sense to move, but the isolation and weather of Invercargill will eventually wear me down. Being that I know pretty much nobody that lives there, I was after some feedback and opinions on how much some of you guys enjoy living in chch. I would be working out at the new Darfield dairy factory, but would most likely try to live somewhere on the western outskirts of the city.
  9. woah shit, thats crazy. You wouldnt have had to touch that pulley before at all right? i.e. its probably been on the verge for some time
  10. Got WOF all sweet after tidying up all that stuff, another 6 months of (hopefully) problem free motoring awaits. Cleaned up my garage today in anticipation of some motivation to work on the wagon again. Had a brief dig at some dodgy looking spots and found this. And goodbye to any potential motivation.
  11. WOF time. Reasons for rejection: Overspray Paint to be removed from Windscreen Dark Overlay on Windscreen to be removed Stickers to be removed on left rear window Which is pretty good but also pretty gay. I tried to argue with him regarding the stickers on the back left window, he kept saying that they were in my blind spot etc, to which I replied "if it was a sedan it wouldnt have that window..." and im pretty sure you are allowed to 100% tint that window or paint it if you like (on wagons). Anyway, I figured he could have scrutinised other aspects of the car quite a bit more and seeing as they werent my stickers and I dont really have an emotional attachment to them I ended up conceeding and getting rid of them. So here is a tribute to the previous life of the wagon:
  12. ^ well said. I am no role model on the matter however.
  13. I was just going to be a cunt and comment the same thing, welds look like they are protruding out a lot? Also hardly an expert on the matter but may need to turn the welder up slightly and increase gas shielding flow? Of course as long as its fusing the metal together then get the grinder out and just go for gold. BTW - offers still there if you wanted to borrow my CO2 setup. I reckon the bottle is getting close to needing a refill though. Anyway I'm due to leave for a few days in about 1.5 hours but missus will be home if you wanted to borrow.
  14. Don't know how you do it richy, there are a few of these cars around but none look anywhere near as good as yours. Looks pretty low now, how did you overcome lowering issues in the front? Theres just not that much room to play with. Even now my wagon bottoms out fully loaded up, and there isnt much of a bumpstop there..
  15. yeah give thinners a burn, should come off piece of piss
  16. mean. welcome to the skyline wag club. I bought mine over a year ago as intention to drive for 6 weeks when I first moved down south and then drive to the scrap yard but I still have it and it is now my only daily car. True story.
  17. looks like it was done by a professional welder, cant fault it
  18. Its kinda like american school bus yellow. Michael doesn't know yet, but after summer I'm going to paint it in his paint booth. Might paint the rest of it the same yellow colour. Not even trollin'
  19. yeah I was about to text you saying I spied with my little eye a red datsun beginning with "s" Thats the kind of magic that happens with the Oldschool.co.nz community in Invercargill, 2 cars showing up to countdown at the same time by pure coincidence!
  20. Boring update. First decent weekend of summer down here, went for a drive round to curio bay and some of the Catlins. Wagon went magically. Actually amazing how well it goes really... As you can see its missing the trim around the windscreen. Wired up a stereo quickly beforehand with some boxed 6x9's. Someone had already done all the hard work by running 12V and switched 12V wires. Things to do list: Install windscreen trim and sun visor Fix drivers inside door lever (the spring has worked its way through it's mounting hole), if you dont manually push the lever back in then you can lock yourself out of the car >.< Install soundproofing in the boot and in the doors. Spray some deadener in the wheel arches Re-Install the dickie seat Get some new black vinyl for the boot and the backs of the seats New Headlining Get the front seat recovered/refilled? Fix awful paint !
  21. Bought it off this guy on trademe, http://www.trademe.c...dyshop-supplies Just ask a q on one of his auctions and he should start one for you. Make sure you ask for the extension hose aswell. Its actually quite liquidy, so it flows well and then goes hard after an hour or so. Took 2 cans to do two coats of the sills and roof cavities
