  1. I've stayed at pinewood before, it's kinda like semi backpacker style but you can get whole self contained units that sleep 6 or more for like $120 a night. Get your own lounge, kitchen and bathroom etc. Good for groups. http://www.pinewood.co.nz/
  2. Nah you can always get good deals in Queenstown and it's fuck all of a drive to Cromwell. Or choose wanaka, it's even slightly closer. I might be keen to come up depending on work and shit and then could possibly cart some of you clowns around with my 8 seats.
  3. I used microchip stuff but if I did it again I might use something a bit different. I do like the fact that the chips are only 5 bucks each or so.
  4. Not right now, just wanted to get it going but don't worry that's next in priority. I'm just going to set up a simple micro that looks at oil pressure, charge light and has a 15sec prime time when key first switches to on, as well as a bypass toggle switch if it craps out. I'll also add in an inertia switch maybe /probably not.
  5. Mechanical fuel pump was leaking oil and rather then get a new one out of the states or a second hand one thats just going to fail again I have upgraded to an electronic one. The temporary blanking plate I made really needs to be thicker, as you can see I had to space out the bolts on in as they didnt have enough thread. But it's all I had/could be bothered with at the moment. Im quite impressed with the quality and service of the "fuelflow" pump though, works well, simple, clear instructions and came with everything needed and no BS, plus made in NZ with a 2 year warranty. Awesome.
  6. I cant see the pictures, is it just me?
  7. Thanks guys. I think I will go with the piston type and mount it in the engine bay initially. If it's too noisy or I get airlock then I'll think about moving it.
  8. Yeah I figure noise would be the main issue. I think the piston ones are a bit more efficient, ie. Higher flow at same PSI. I'd assume piston ones are also probably more reliable? I'd say a Diaphragm one is more likely to fail catastrophically whereas a piston one might just produce "blow by" when the seal fails. How bad is the noise beaver? I am running a standard carb so probably not at good as drowning out noise. Might just have to upgrade to triple carbs I dunno about the Carter ones but most I looked at would probably need an external reg cause they seem to put out 9 psi or more.
  9. So my mechanical fuel pump is pretty much rooted and there are oil leaks all around it. I want to go the electric route cause they cost about the same as a replacement new mechanical one (or only slightly more) and will be easier to deal with in the future. I'm looking at a 020 or 15LM12, but which is better - is there any reason to pick Diaphragm over Piston type or vice versa?
  10. I only got one photo. I'll just put this here.
  11. Alex you need to cut the sleeves off hannah's overalls ASAP! .. That shit is dangerous working on a lathe! Edit: also the link to your disco thread on the first post is broken
  12. Wow 10 hours of driving later and I am home. Wagon went like a champ all the way. Who needs oil. I just went to have a shower and noticed I am missing all the hairs to one side of my johnson. Of course ordinarly I would be worried if not for the fact I was at an oldschool meet last night. Top effor to the organisers, would trade again!
  13. Richy did your parts car have power steer?
  14. Sounds spectacular, what's your address (PM me or something), I probably lost it. And we will stop by yours on the way in if you are home!
  15. Hello fellow hanmerites. Does anyone have a guard roller or strong metal tube (like a jack handle) I can use to roll my guards out a tad. My tire is slowly destroying itself due to the excessive weight of beards in my car. Already tried with a mallet handle but the guard lip is pretty tough.
  16. Yep, it was a no brainer with Zeb there also. $80 for 3 lads in a cabin. Leaves plenty of change for lube and snacks. As far as Zeb's attendance, he has confirmed he would like a ride up via text... thats all I can say. On a lighter note, is there an award for best designed but poorly fabricated mallet? I think I have that in the bag.
  17. There are gonna be 3 men sharing a cabin in Timaru on Thursday. ... Wasn't there a movie similar to that?
  18. Well I am bringing a bike. If I can be bothered tonight I will attempt to make a mallet. Bike Frisbee sounds choice though...
  19. Cool thanks for that I understand. One more question though, if I were to find a non-adjustable aftermarket strut replacement (and therefore no cert required) it is legal entirely legal, despite having steel welded to cast? (from a WOF point of view etc). As long as it's a direct replacement, not modified etc. Cheers
  20. Can my mallet be a piece of 4x2 nailed to the end of a broomstick. This is sounding deliciously dangerous. May have to Don overalls and gloves to protect my fragile whiteboy skin.
