  1. Got some more pictures. Got to thank the guy's down at NZEFI here in chch, Done me a top notch deal on these waste gates. Started on this tonight. It's just going to tie the two sides together. I will be lightning this up a fair bit. I will also make one for the other end. Sat the plenum shell on the engine for a geazer. The plenum will sit a bit lower than in this shot. Got a VH45 throttle body, they are tidier than the 1uz.
  2. I have been doing a few things on the inlet manifold, just tiding up the the blocks. Also got some bolts and bolted everything down. Also made a set of trumpets. Here's the trumpets sitting in place. Now I have to work out how I am going to fit the plenum shell to the blocks of alloy. I have also bought a blow off valve and a couple of waste gates.
  3. Cheers Damien. I am a engine reconditioner in CHCH. So no don't import any measuring tools, would be nice though.
  4. So I started milling the manifold port shape into my blocks off alloy Then I machined a seat for the trumpet to sit in. This gave me a reference to machine the transition from round to the oval port shape. I used the rotary table to rotate the flange and cut the round shape in. This was the end result. There is still a small amount of material to come out, which I will attack with a die grinder Left side is straight off the mill. Right side has been hand blended. Still could do with a little more work but is close enough for now. Trumpet sitting on the flange. Will be getting some alloy this week to make a set off decent trumpets up.
  5. In my eyes you have lived the dream. Love your work. Galaxie's are cool.
  6. I have put a windage pan into the sump just to try and keep the oil from getting stirred up I have decided to make a inlet manifold, We have a CNC guy that comes into work, Craig Young. He had all ready machined these inlet manifold flanges out so I grabbed them off him. The alloy plate bellow is the next part of the runner that I am going to make myself. This section will go from the oval to round. And my trumpets will also counter sink into this to. I had a few average trumpets lying around, I just used these to get a idea for length I made a plenum. I also have a build thread on Facebook under the altered boost page. The altered boost guys are helping me out with a few bits and pieces. We build the engine for there altered drag car at work. If your interested in altered drag cars it worth a geazer. http://www.facebook.com/alteredboost?fref=ts
  7. It's looking good, bugger about the alloy bit in the cylinder. Kennelly Cams are worth a look for grinding your cams. Probably cheaper than kelford.
  8. I give them a tidy up with a file then a sanding cartridge driven by a die grinder.
  9. Cheers Flyingbrick, Unfortunately we don't have any CNC machines.
  10. Made a oil pick up, it's got a extra bend in cause I used a Toyota 1kz oil pickup to make it. Had to straighten the sump after welding it all together. So I put some feller blades under the middle of the sump and pulled it down as I heated it up. Once I got it reasonably straight I put it in the surface grinder at work and machined it flat. Just a picture of the inside, welded it inside as well.
  11. Ha Ha, Pete a young fella came into work with a 1uz in his car, and it sounded cool when he took off so that was that. V8's are cool. The list goes on. Getting older.
  12. Took my engine into work and pulled the sump off. Look likes it's a clean engine which is always a good start. This is what the sump used to look like Cut the front off Got some alloy and mocked it up. Welded the new extension up,just got to tidy a few thing's then finish welding it up.
  13. I will have to modify the sump, as the x member goes right through where the sump bowl is
  14. I have been making up the adapter plate, 1uz bellhousing to powerglide
  15. There's been a change in plans, in the engine department. I have decided to run a 1uz. Things are tight, there is definitely no room for a radiator. So I will be chopping the firewall back. I am going to run a powerglide behind the 1uz, got the engine back as far as possible, cause I plan on mounting the turbo in front of the engine.
  16. Started making up my caliper mounts. Finishing the outside shape in the mill. Also bought some bilstein coilover threads. Looking forward to seeing the finished result, with the car sitting lower in front.
  17. Kennelly Cams works out of our workshop. And PK the onwer said he'd grind my cam's. So i pulled them out one morning at work. Cams out In the grinder Bleeding down the hydraulic lifters Going back together Sorted, rocker cover back on. Thanks to PK at Kennelly, Definitely got more top end power.
  18. Started on the front brakes. Bought some rotors off safe R brakes, not sure what there off. They where bought in from the UK for a guy and he never picked them up. So it worked out quite well for me. Here's a picture of new and old. I will have to turn the OD down as they are 310mm at the moment. I will get them down to 295mm and everything should have plenty of clearance. I had to make up dowels to bung up the old uneeded hole's. Then redrilled my holes. Also turned up some flanges to clamp the the rotors to the hubs. Here's a mock up. Im going to run Skyline GTS,T brakes. I haven't made caliper mounts yet.
  19. Ive been abit slack lately, riding my dirt bike. So started getting back into it, and bought a fuel pump. Also made a throttle body flange
  20. It's been awhile Pete, What's happening on this beast. Would love to see some more action.
  21. Test fitted the fuel tank, seems to fill the hole nicely. It holds 40litres. I also made a alloy panel that is removable, It's there to give access to the rear shocks and rear links. This will be very handy as getting the wheels off is a major job. If i get a flat tyre i will be ringing a tow truck. Also got my boot fitted on the orginall boot hinges, Took a couple of hours triming and mucking round but is way easier than making new brackets/hinges.
  22. Turned up a alloy ring to mount the skyline pump. Made a few panels up to slow the side to side movement of the fuel. Cut some 51mm pipe up into quaters long ways, fitted them to the front and back to deflect the fuel back down under acceleration and braking, not sure how it will work. Welded fuel cradel mount and fuel cap thread on from the inside, and will also weld externally to.Also made a breather hole and made a wee gauze holder, it's the wee half round thing with holes in it. All welded up Put a drain bung in.
  23. I have test fitted the VW shocks, i have made a small spacer to locate the shock in the bottom of the strut. I have also made a spacer ring to locate the top of the shock. Finished the coilovers, went with 6kg tein springs 200mm long, Also put new bearings in the top strut mounts. Had to paint the struts in ford blue left over from someone's engine at work. Really looks average with the springs. Also made some spacers for the top of the shocks to locate the top mounts.
