  1. Make sure you bleed power steering well, super easy to do. I didnt and spent ages fault finding only to find I just needed to spin the steering wheel a few more times haha
  2. Ive driven a few Herons, a different model though... The site I did my apprenticeships at had a fleet of these, made by Heron in 1996 according to the labels
  3. Super easy to just pull the pins out of your plugs and pop them into the new ones too
  4. Below dunedin on the coast, from memory there a town named Owaka there and the pub sells pens saying "where the fuck is owaka" and the old fulla who owns basically the town has a private museum with lots of tractors
  5. But is it a significant enough power increase? Factory figures show 108hp for sohc zc, 120hp for dohc. So a little over 10%? Or is the power increase figure only with regards to needing a cert on the oe engine modified? In which case one could argue its the stock engine, just has a dohc head bolted to it. Which you could have done with the old engine. Be like a non type r integra having a type r engine fitted, both are stamped as b18c but one is more powerful
  6. I have the rear all all assembled now, just gotta order some brake shoes for the front before I can assemble that. Then its just plug in all the wiring and its away, mods later IMG_20160724_085317 by Andrew, on Flickr
  7. Its a zc cylinder head so from the same family as original, meets criteria does it not? I think hes pulling ya leg or someone is pulling his, they never came DOHC from factory. Rarest would be the shape before this 84-87 Shuttle GT with fuel injected single cam EW5 engine. There used to be one around town here but havnt seen it for a while
  8. Nah DOHC swap shouldnt need cert, same engine series, same cc, same aspiration, same mounts, not much more power. Chassis plate should say it has a zc, engine is a zc. Win
  9. You will probably find the headers wont get around the transfer case anyway? This is the case with crv anywyay, normal bseries headers need to be modded. But yea should be certed, in most cases just the lip of the subframe needs to be trimmed so you may get away with it, i had b18c with 4-2-1 headers and they cleared the subframe so you never know what may fit
  10. For power steering fluid if you ever need to replace it, for whatever ever reason Honda uses different fluid. Can get it from repco etc, many brands make it, its reffered to as HPSO (honda power steering oil i assume) that was a job I had to do twice on mine. I changed pump and hard line though as Bseries pump is different
  11. Yep so long as the engine is OBD0 everything from your existing loom will plug straight in except for the mentioned dizzy. The onky thing that may differ is the fan switch for the radiator, your old engine should have had it on the back of the block near the oil filter sort of, Im pretty sure the dohc zc had it in the same place but if not you just need to lengthen the wires to the thermostat housing. I stuffed up my original loom when I put the B18c in (obd1) and ended up using a DOHC zc loom with a few extra wires attached so can confirm that it will all plug into the chassis no worries.
  12. Nah subframe on efs is in two parts, engine bolts to both parts and also the chassis, out the top is easiest. If you think you have no room try a Shuttle with B18c in it, that is a tight fit
  13. That ball joint trick works wonders. I use a 10mm open end spanner on its side in there. Honda lower ball joints can be a pain but that trick works everytime. Fyi you will need to change the plugs on your loom to match the engine as dohc zc has the cam sensor on the exhaust cam, sohc (and every ther honda) has the sensor in the dizzy. Its easy to just dipin the plugs and click on the new ones Everything else should just plug in
  14. Been chipping away at this Cf50 by Andrew Whalley, on Flickr Wheels are currently being painted, gotta connect at the wiring etc then its pretty much ready to go
  15. Paint is done, not perfect but then Im not much of a painter Painted by Andrew, on Flickr
  16. There is some on webike japan, a couple different brands. I think the cheaper ones are about $50 + shipping Edit/ These i think http://japan.webike.net/products/21203626.html
  17. So this is now in basically as many peices as it can be, have taken all the small bits to work and used the bead blaster. A lot of the chrome bits were rusted so they will now be painted with Hammerite Black, frame was sanded and primed along with the guards. P1040842 by Andrew, on Flickr P1040841 by Andrew, on Flickr P1040843 by Andrew, on Flickr P1040844 by Andrew, on Flickr So need to grab a couple cans of colour for the frame and and paint the guards white then start putting it back together. I would like to get some wide rims, new tyres, lower rear shocks and a nice exhaust but finances are a little tight so will see what happens
  18. No doubt Mr Foote will be in your ear at work about B series Hondas
  19. If you are going to swap the engine eventually then rather than spend thousands on the current engine only to rip it out, why not spend the minimum required to get it going then save the rest for the engine swap. Means you get your new engine faster and arnt left with a $3000 paper weight that is the old engine
  20. Small update. Have been slowly stripping bits off, taking them to work and bead blasting them. Have panel beaten the front guard with a claw hammer and broom handle and gotten most of the dents out. Leaves it looking quite naked: IMG_20160505_212433 by Andrew, on Flickr Also had my order from webike japan show up today (was sent from Japan 4 days ago!) IMG_20160514_101123 by Andrew, on Flickr Includes a leg guard, headlight case, headlight lens, front brake shoes and Mirror And a quick mock up Mock up by Andrew, on Flickr
  21. Really? Have you got a place down there like I used that is an AA purely for licencing and registration? Not part of a workshop or anything just a office. The ladies here didnt even mention an inspection, just told me "no speeding" and laughed when I told them I probably couldnt if I tried Even better, its B8EER
  22. Success, went into AA this morning asked for MR2B, filled it inand was given a plate and 12 months rego for $109 Sucess by Andrew Whalley, on Flickr Figured id try AA as its just a couple of office ladies rather than grumpy vehicle inspectors. Only trick is that on the form the vehicle type is not on the list of options. Options list starts at "02" but a moped is "01"
  23. Just be warned that AC switches dont like DC. Probably not an issue with low current though.
  24. Yea seem to be going up a little in value, previous owner informs me its got a 70cc top end on it which explains why it goes so well. Plan is to go for a resto mod, basically restored back to original but maybe an exhaust and other minor upgrades along the way. Will see what happens. Going to to clean out the tank and get it running perfect then next week get it registered
  25. Right so picked this thing up yesterday, been sitting in a woodshed for the last 12 years, was used on a orchard before that hence the knobbly pirelli tyres and a welded on tow hitch for towing a trailer. IMG_1518 by Andrew, on Flickr IMG_1519 by Andrew, on Flickr I then cleaned it up, put air in the tyres, removed and cleaned the carb, put fuel in it, got sick of kicking it over so used a power drill with 17mm socket on the flywheel to turn it over. Then I rode it around until the fuel lines blocked up again (will remove the tank and flush it out) IMG_1520 by Andrew, on Flickr IMG_1521 by Andrew, on Flickr Not sure on plans for it yet, will get it registered then set about making the brakes work then fitting indicators, a battery and a new headlight. Will see what happens after that.
