Yeah i just thought a bubble arches were all the same, just comes down to how theyre mounted and how much filler is applied to blend them in. Heres a pic of the old mans twincam lotus with original type 49 shell.
  2. First time ive checked this thread out. lookin the biz, keep up the good work
  3. As above with the comments. Looking good. Are you just gonna use your standard fuel tank? Think i might use mine and just plumb a return into it where the sender unit is. Or maybe a baffled fuel cell.
  4. Already been there mate and got one, its the rally one in my project thread. Im running the same size cooler with silicon 90deg joiners cut down to clear the inner front wings. In between them ive got a civic alloy 3 core radiator, been told they go alright but time will tell i guess. As for plans probably just a quick street car, but tempted to do a bit of track work, at thisstagrthough id behappy just to see it going Im gonna run deep dish 17" mags just cant find exactly what i want but something in this style but polished lip, painted spokes like the first pic. Cheers for the encouragement, running a bit low on enthausiasim at the moment.
  5. 18"s might be a bit big but they do fit under the guards Got the hole saw out to make some new holes for the intercooler in the front panel. All welded on so thats where its staying and from a different angle, gave the guard a coat of primer too
  6. Think work gets it from blackwood pykels. Greeb and black can. Dont let the citrus smell fool you, wear a mask and eye protection plus gloves, it can make your hands go white, which is the fat being sucked out of ya skin then they go dry, then crack, then bleed . Good shit, to lethal for the states
  7. if you wanna clean grime, oil and crap off get a couple of cans of hdx, bad as fuck for you, if you smoke near it it turns to nerve gas or something and paralises your lungs, but dont let that put you off also removes oil stains out of concrete
  8. Dynamat and carpet for me, wont see any of the patch work
  9. Cheers, yeah done it all myself. been a bit of a learning curve blue sounds good, will have to check that colour out.
  10. Yeah im gonna stick with orange, not sure what shade yet, deep dish 17" mags, bronve with a polished lip, black interior with blue recaros. Hopefully comes out alright. Whar colour you goin with mate?
  11. Apologise forthe dirty lens in the last two photos
  12. Been at it again, chopping out rust and bending and shaping metal. Cut out the old mounting wings and made some new ones, also the bottom of the guard. To make things easy i thought id make the guards bolt on now with nut inserts (courtesy of work) Thought id make sure everything still fits together, and it does.
  13. Cheers mate, yeah it seems to be running smoothly at this stage. As for the "cheap" brakes they ended up costing me bout $1500, customs got hold of them, so ifyou get anything from overseas just makesure they word it right on the customs papers. Hopefully they work alrite, gonna put a VH44 booster for better pedal feel up under the dash. Looks like youve got a good basis to start with gaz.
  14. Body wise not to much, got all the rust cut out Pinched a compressor from work and borrowed a good gravity feed gun. Just gotta sort the front guards out, get some holes punched in my new front panel and put it back together, so yeah, still a bit to do. Might change my hilux diff to disks as welland get a hydraulic hand brake for a bit of fun. Should get a bit done over xmas.
  15. All cleaned up and undersealed, makes a big difference. Bit more tidying up of the sills Sprayed a bit of primer roundthe inside. Time for the front guards, out with the rust and in with the new, if they dont turn out right i guess ill have to buy new ones And the first of the new collection ive started.
  16. RB25DET, ill second that. or if your going v8 why not a smaller and better lexus v8?
  17. For all that are interested/asked ill be selling a set of AP callipers on trade me this week. Cheers
  18. Things have got a bit more serious Got sick of crawling under it so decided to put her on her side to strip off the old underseal and put on the new. Also my new brakes turned up finally so out with the old and in with the new. Good straight swap kit.
  19. You havnt run ya bottom end have ya? Done this before, car ran but was had no pull and was slow to turn over, didnt even sound that bad when running. Hope not but just a thought.
  20. Have you tried "racing" the engine as mitsubishi call it. When i had my evo you had to give it a canning after changin the oil to remove an airlock up top or something. Either that or change oil again.
  21. looks like it will be a tight fit
  22. The bit circled in red in your first photo is your tie rod end. Should have a hex bit at the end of it to put your spanner on and one on the rod of your steering arm to undo it and should just come off and unscrew. [/img]
  23. Cheers mate. From memory i think its a unimig 110. Does from 25A up to 110A. Good wee welder, cant remember the amp setting i have it on but think its about half power with wire speed set at around 6 with O.6 welding wire which is good with panel steel, found with the lower amp settings you dont get enough penetration ( ) but with it slightly higher it works well if you adopt the pulse welding method so you dont blow holes through the thin panel steel. As for gas try and get an old CO2 fire extinguisher and get the head changed on it to put a mini regulator on it. Only costs $75 for hte head and bout $80 for a mini CO2 regulator and then $30 to fill each time. Any more questions just ask. Have a look here; http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/
  24. Cheers mate. Got some gas for the mig today so back at it. Got the back panel welded on so just gota fill the gap in the rear arch then chuck her on her side and deal to the underneath with a bit of a clean up and sum underseal Will keep the pictures coming
  25. After some slight persuasion with the hammer i got my new back panel sitting in place. makes a big difference Only problem is ive run out of gas for the mig welder, so will have to wait for tomorrow to weld it in place.
