  1. i would have to agree with you there mate mines far from that state yet but at least this one that gas has picked up is a sweet start
  2. he makes it look so easy but the rear tubs and turets on the car above are same as the ones im doing. hope mine turn out that good
  3. LOW'N'SLOW a lot of that works is garys a from turbosport.co.uk he does some fuking nice work man
  4. nice one man. ya gota love bubble archs so wahts the big plan man with all that room you could buy my rb30 and slam it in it
  5. after the first time though, the surge tank stays full, and there is no need. there only needs to be about half in the surge tank before the main pump can pull it, push it, and get it back from the return line. i drew this up a while back, perhaps its of some use to someone reading this thread : yeh thats how i had mine set aswel. works a treat
  6. i use to run a surge tank and pumps on my old fwd mazda but when i set the fuel system up i used the factory pump to fill surge tank then an external to suply fuel to the motor on a sep switch. so you can turn the key and it will fill the surge tank and all the way to the pump then flick the switch and pump the fuel to the motor then start it. worked sweet
  7. the main reson for the change of mind guys is ive had a lot to do with turbo cars and making turbo set ups and im just wanting to go back to my old days with a nice mild running carbied v8 no turbos and no computers if anything ill probliy go superchaged later on or nitrous oxcide. and i drove my brothers 302 mk1 capri and fucking loved it and i realy fucking loved the sound
  8. i dont know mate i will make all the running gear so that it rolls and tuns 1st that will take will give me time to think but i must say im swaying to the v8
  9. ok so my panels are done the rears are just like normal bubbles but he done them 50mm wider to fit over the tyres. there has also been a change of heart about the motor choise. i know ive planed it all out and bought the doner car but!!!!!! im still going to use the full vl running gear but for the price its going to cost me for putting the rb30 in plus turbo set up,intercooler, plubing, injectors, computers ect ...ect...ect... i came to the conclustion that that money would best be spent on a v8 and manual set up nice old school 302 w 4 or 5 speed and probbliy a wee bit of nos. cheers cheers
  10. just to up date my fiberglass panels are finished and ill be picking them up next week he emailed me some pics so here you go the front are one peace bubbles and gaurds and buy the looks of the pics bred has done another amazing job he selld on trade me and if your afer parts hes the man for fiberglassing.
  11. ill wait till the things built with all the bits the way i want them and then see what the certifyer has to say and just go from there. as for the motor being heavy in the mk1 ive got a idea in my head of how i want it and from what ive worked out (if i can do it) there should only be max of 1 piston over the front of the crossmember. hopfully
  12. thats some shit hot work mate well done. is this the first time you have done this? its all looking good man keep it up
  13. yeh looking nice mate. and ill keep intouch about the help with my vl set up. cheers dan
  14. shes coming along nicly mate. what a differance new panels make a. keep them coming man dan
  15. thanks mate and thats a nice mk1 you have there dan
  16. hahaha my lets me have my toys so ive got to let her have a 4x4 just make sure it has a towbar so i can use it aswell for towing my mk1 the thing with the motor is mate i think it will be enogh i mean its a 3L 6 cylinder with a turbo in a mk1 escort and it pulls like a school boy in a heavy vl in standered form . i think ill be happy and theres loads of people around like (LURK1N-G8KEPA) that have givin me loads of ideas on getting power out of it. and if im not happy then once its built i can modify from there. cheers dan
  17. thanks alot mate. ive been doing a lot of searching myself on the interweb and thats the reason i held out for the holden i bought cos it has all the places for the oil and water feeds and returns. all i want to do is just get it started next year with all standerd parts so i can get it running with one of your chips and a small turbo set up. then once its all buit and certed i can up grade things later on down the track. cheers dan
  18. Not all VP, VR, VS's are IRS, alot have a live axle. Cop spec VR's had the IRS LSD diff. You should be able to use the diff centre, but you wont be able to use the whole head. VL calais turbo and V8 and few 3L's had disk brake rear end. How ever the VN disk over drum hand brake setup bolts on to the VL diff fairly painlessly and is a cheaper more readily available option. Also in case your interested for your project - the diff gearing in a NZ 2L VL is much more suited for acceleration and pick up. and for 4.11 gearing (even more pick up of the mark) use the gearing out of a horrible NZ 2L 4cyl VN thanks for all that mate i think you know hellraiser? as he sent me a pm with some of the info but i will keep you in mind for the chip. so does that mean i can use the n/a loom ,ecu, injectors ect? cheers dan
  19. haha to late im already a member and ive told them im stripping it to put into a ford.
  20. yeh man its just a berlina that would be cool if you can find somethings out for me just find out what you can even if i can just swap the heads over thanks dan
  21. hay chris not 100% sure about the diff its a single spinner and drums. i want discs and a lsd if i can just change the head that would be sweet. the diff i want and have been told to go for is a ex-cop vp diff . as for the motor im keeping it sohc but will be turboing it. then once its all in theres always room for change later on down the line. cheers dan
  22. dont get me wrong mate its not a bad holden but i wouldnt say it was mint it was used as a farm hack and the inside is pretty fucked .but for what i payed for it i couldnt but the parts sep for that i mean ill be useing everything out of it so it was a good buy. dan
  23. yeh not bad man got it for $800 with a reg till end of nov i gave it a full service got a wof on it. the g,box is a bit noicy but will sort that befor it goes into the mk1. cheers dan
  24. i got a good deal on them as the guy that makes them normals makes fiberglass guards and makes the bubbles as a sep set but i asked him if he can put the bubbles on for me and he said he will try and make a one peace front gaurd with the bubble on but for the front gaurds with bubles and the rears being made wider all up $800 cash. as for the car i drove it to the ford show on sunday and ive never been so embarised in my whole life. but aaprt from that im realy enjoying driving a big 6 witha manual and this motor in my mk1 even without a turbo would be fast as fuck . im getting excitded haha just got to wait till next year when i buy the missis a new 4x4 then i can strip it and the fun begins cheers dan
