  1. mmm... Not tooooo keen on the going bush plan. Might borrow the Old mans farm brumby(removeable roof for shooting ftw) if that plan eventuates too much. But yeah. I'm helluva surprized at how these things go once you get off the tar. And yeah, its got a rear LSD atm, 3.9 ratio or something I think. But diff will probably be getting changed out with transaxle. So will be probably looking for Legacy LSD. It sure is a bit nicer than the vortex, that thing was trashed, and is spiralling toward its death (i'm tracking it, parts yunno) even quicker now than when I had it. For the wheels I was thinking, for cheap-ass-ed-ness/shits and giggles, either drill the 140x4 hubs to 140x6 or drill some steel 140x6 wheels to 140x4. Eg 15in steel wheels off lots of jappa utes(I think/hope), Get them widened, and some spinnar hubcaps put on. Hopefully end up being able to fit something bigger than 185's on... 225's? 255's? Whats a good width rim to aim/look out for? Keeping in mind I spose I should sort out how much space is down there first. And yeah, motor at the moment its still probably gonna be a 1st gen turbo legacy. Gotta find out if theres any special ones to look out for. Cause I've seen RS and GT ones, not sure if theres a difference. But yeah, def ej20-something. What kinda style you guys reakon I should go for? Matt Black on cutties? 'bozo' etc.. *shrug* Ill try put up some pics of these that have been mildly done up.
  2. Hey, well I know its not true/proper oldschool, but it is pretty old/textbook eighties styling. But I've been trying to plan some things to do to it. Just about have the drivetrain ideas sorted out. But was fishing around for some input on the exterior, which 'theme' to go with etc. I don't wanna go all out 'X-treme', just something tastefull and nice. Its pretty standard eighties looking.. Whats the suggestions? I had in mind... Wiiiiidde wheels, flaired guards/edges, Slightly lower, stiffened up ride, some form of bonnet scoop, or go fmic. Any input would be sweeet. Please tolerate this..
  3. I'm pretty sure you can pull the heads on mine, looks to be enough space, and its the 1600 body with the 1800 wedged in it.
  4. I had the feeling that all the pre '80 had the same or very similar dimensions, the '81 Brumby included.... Don't hold me to that though.
  5. Yep thats the fella. I might pop him an email later tonight or next time I'm talking to him I'll say. Its pretty interesting what he's doing. Custom manifolds and things now too I think.
  6. Hi there Cubastreet. Its me from the USMB I've been talking to a guy down south somewhere whos supercharged his lpg ea81. Its really interesting. Hes planning on doing water injection on it this time round as it blew up the first time. If you want I could pass on your details to him.
  7. Hi there. Here are some pictures etc of my Subaru Ute. An '81, the last year of the old styled subarus but the first with the 1800 innit. Its not so much a project or build up, More of a, keep it on the road and maybe change a thing or two along the way. I got it last year, it had done 64000km, and now its done 76000. This is the newest picture. Discuss: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/24145-waimakss-1981-rusty-brumby/
