  1. Yeah that one on tardme is pretty fine alright I have a few of these small Hondas inc 125s and CB50s. Also stripped another tank I have that was primer grey. I was gutted to see the paint underneath but then happy to find the tank itself pretty much immaculate, no dents, tiny tiny spots of rust. Got something special planned for this tank. Once this bike is gone I have a 125 frame to do some work to.
  2. Bought this a while ago, early 70's CB100 big block four stroker. Runs mint. Rebuild fairly close to factory spec - coming soon. Have some really tidy CB100 bits that I will be exchanging onto this bike as well as some new bits and pieces. My intention is to sell it once done but I have a feeling it may be hard to let go. The tank really tickles my pickle.

Yus! Thanks Dime City for free international postage. I waited a long time for this opp. Just waiting on some upgraded wiring bits including a straight wire in fuse box that replaces the poor glass fuse factory version.
  4. I would not usually comment on American cars but that Sir, in matte blackness = awesome. Has a real Max Maxness about it. Love it.
  5. Well, inhereted me a RD of my own as well. LOOOONG term project at the back of the queue. Had this for a while in storage, it sits and collects dust. I almost have all marques/types of bikes covered , just need a BMW and then a Harley (aye Chris) 1973 RD250, very first of the Yamaha RD range according to Interweb. NZ and OZ markets were some of first to get apparently? The RD250 was the only RD twin model to get the drum front brake and I love it. Essentially same as same year RD350. Noteworthy; Have original plate and ownership paper since 1973 Engine seized, unknown internal condition as cannot get barrel off one side. Missing heaps Considering a stripped down, premix , rowdy smoky thingee.
  6. Spend a good few hours using a tank sealing kit from POR15, awesome but time consuming! Got plenty of new bits on there way from Hitchcocks in UK. Had to remove primary chain cover to get re powder coated anyway and glad I did. Primary engine sprocket is average, chips out of teeth and the sprocket itself has a large crack in it Lucky it is one of the new bits I was able to get out of UK. Then clutch in all its basic goodness , needs new plates + linings. I am also going to adapt a Royal Enfield bullet clutch (which has 6 springs) to replace the 3 spring setup. AND THEN, took off the primary inner cover to find the GEARBOX sprocket rooted as well I would say when the bike was restored the old owner did not realise you could get new bits for these still so has used the best bits he had. Got so many bike projects I am thinking of doing a multi post on all of them. In about three weeks, after the last exam of my life, I will finally be able to spend more of my own time on them (well between family and house repairs.)
  7. Yeah I just stumbled on it today. International deal started two days ago, guess they are not emailing everyone.

Bout time this saw some action. Had the front and rear guards stripped of their chrome, rear guard has some hidden nasty rust. Anyone have a hook up or know a good place to get 4mm brass bullet terminals etc in nz? Vintage Connections in US is good but would rather find local. sold the beeza so this should see some new rear shocks and the final purchases soon. Also need new carb joiners as I discovered the old ones leak. Not conducive with fun on a rebuilt bike if it goes up in flames.
  10. Rubbing my hands together with glee on this build. I agree that the proportions on that frame are spot on.
  11. Yep, read that email more carefully (website does not mention it; *For domestic orders only. Sorry guys we'll do something special for those of you across the big pond soon too! they did it last year as well.
  12. Dime city emailing list tells me their free international shipping deal (for orders over $150usd) is coming up again soon, so I would wait until it happens if you can. Trouble is, wont know until they do it. Join their mailing list.
  13. Yeah especially the right model for the bike for only $10USD! (owes me $50NZD with postage.) Complete pre-monoblocks can fetch mega
  14. Carb woes. It had a Amal 276, presumed the right one - wrong. Carb fitted was a Amal 276AU/1BE , apparently for some old Norton ES2? It is 1 + 1/16th in size for a 500cc. By absolute fluke whilst trawling Ebay, I stumbled across the correct carb - Amal 276BL/1A , which is 15/16ths in size. Got it for $10 USD! No wonder the previous owner said it ran rich. Turns out jet blocks are completely different. Bike should start a lot easier hopefully. Photos for comparison (old = top, correct/new = bottom; Jet block differences; And I just love the look of these old things with the remote floats; Now to get the correct jets and replace the hard as fibre gaskets.
  15. Such great mates for doing this for you! Sounds like a nasty crash all the best for getting on the mend chief and its good to hear your not giving up on riding. I really like the reinvention of your bike. A+
  16. drool! You own some wicked modes of transport!
  17. And I got some from the previous owner (who got it from his neighbour who had just restored it in around 1996ish)
  18. Found this, screwed up and neglected in a box of parts that came with the bike. IMO this pic is better than any of the spares I got!
  19. rubbing my hands together with anticipation to see what you make of this. Those wire wheels made a huge difference to the look. I like the Kawasaki cast wheels, but only the Kawasaki cast wheels in that 70s era (Suzuki, Yammy, Honda all look pooze.)

Couple more pics outside. Can't wait!
  21. Nice! Pretty similar to all equiv Jap spec 4 cylinder bikes of that era, Is is shaft drive or chain? I notice your carbs appear to be CV type which from what I have heard can be a headache tuning with jets to get running on pods. But then again I have no experience with CV carbs myself. Good luck!
  22. 350cc There is not a lot of info around about these old bikes, I am sure I can up the compression without too many issues though.
  23. This old girl just thumps along, anyone who has ridden an old single knows they are not fast! Has something like 6:1 compression ratio and a top speed of 67mph but that seems far fetched. I doubt it could keep up with a Honda cb100. Starting procedure in manual cracks me up; Turn on petrol Depress tickler on carb Close the air lever (choke) Slightly retard the ignition (mag/dyno lever) Open throttle about 1/8th And smartly Depress Kickstart lever Same bike was used during WWII although telescopic forks came our after the war. A lot of surplus bikes were repainted and sold to public so this bike could have seen services to the war at some point
  24. Apparently 1965 is not satisfying enough for me. No point having two 650cc bikes abd I always wanted an old hard tail. Enter 1947 Royal Enfield model G First thing I did was remove Lycett b1tch seat and pegs and HUMUNGUS front guard.

Bike runs with my own wiring Runs and revs mint, sounds great and I forgot how loud it is. Also got my seat that was recovered by Marshall Upholstery today. Norm has done an AWESOME job. Preview pic: Getting close to pulling it allllll apart again for final frame welding / powder coating. Will be good to have a bike going instead of a mini museum of bikes.
