  1. We planted a palm tree today in the garden where kitten used to always sleep. Mum has two other little girl kittens and one of them was 'Kitten's' best mate. She is now going about the house looking for 'Kitten' - its so sad. Hannah and I wont get another cat until we have our own land, which wont be near any main road. We don't want to deal with the hurt again.
  2. Cheers fellas. It sucks. Non-cat people wont understand but cats are so cool and can have such awesome personalities- this wee fella did. He was a bit special- not quite fully as adept at being a cat as most but all the more better for it.
  3. Cool- good to see it getting love. I have been watching these recently and have turned Hannah from disliking them to liking them = another car on my want list. There is a mint blue one parked around our block every day- its called bluebell. Looks sweet. And local girl at united video rocks to work in a beat up old 1100- sooooo cool. I missed the auction end on one down in Chch. It sold for $360 with reg on hold and a dud clutch but no rust - how cheap is that!!!! Cheap motoring in these days of not so cheap fuel.
  4. An update with some good news and very sad news. Good news is that one job we have not been looking forwards to is done. I built a huge belly box for storage. Its big and is heavy- 2mm sheet steel turned out to be heavier than I thought. But its strong. Its good to have it up as its the last big fabrication job done. Its all pretty much wood work and some wiring to do. Which can all be done inside - this means cosy. Bring on the cold miserable weather! (not that we get that here in Marlborough- its just endless sunshine ...) Today we mounted it up in place. It will be ply lined out and I'll make some shelves. We have built a surround for our grey water waste tank and that'll go up today on the other side once the paint has dried. The sad news is that 'Kitten', our favourite little helper who you all will have seen in various photos since we started the build, was run over by a car yesterday. Dad was called out by the lady who hit him and he brought him to me. I had to 'dispatch' of him as he was in a terrible way and its the hardest most horrible experience I've ever had- period. Hannah and I are absolutely distraught. I miss him so much already. So we dedicate our housetruck build to Kitten. He was our little man, one in a million...
  5. Yeah- we'll pop on in Dave for sure- i'll phone ya. Planning to meet up with Dean- we could go and see his huge collection of ford cortinas, escorts, populars, fiats, mazdas etc- the ones in the fields.
  6. I'll ask the cert man to just put turbo charged 12a on form as I hand him some cake/cup of tea....
  7. They should send you a reminder in the mail when times almost up anyway.
  8. So a housing is on the way- big ups to Uterus for his donation! (what is this dark horses name- is it Simon?) I'd really like to try and get this car on the road and possibly make the oldschool meet in that island above the mainland I'm not going to commit to it yet as car is not.. a; complete b; going c; legal- certed etc d; that big money pit that feeds cars is getting very dry. I'm doing my best to sell shit on trademe that I don't need- problem is people don't want to buy shit. I'll keep ya'll posted.
  9. Yeah cheers H8V8S for the heads up. All the tips/seals are fine. Must be the photo? Anyway I was told by richard at greenbrothers that it was a 12 6 port and to check the runner heights - well mini disaster as far as buying the wrong parts avoided. As soon as I got up this morning I lined up all the housings/plates and discovered this... So 12a 6 port plates are a no no. The runners are 15mm lower then my normal 12a runners. I rang the fella I bought the plate from and luckily he was in town on his way back through from his 20b collecting mission in Greymouth. So he has taken the plate back no worries. Now back on the hunt. I'm gonna try the fella I've been suggested in Nelson as we are heading that way next week.
  10. Well I now have a centre plate. The fella from Hamilton who sold it me delivered on his way through south. It has mint surfaces but is a 6 port 12A plate and has tiny ports/runners. I may well take them out a bit more. Not sure yet Anyway-once housing arrives it'll be rebuild time.
  11. I just love the look of this car all tatty like. Love those old seats. Ya don't get much more sleeper than this! Watching this car!!!!
  12. Looks good! I personally like it at about that height- only cause I end up always loading my cars up with bikes and camping gear and they scrape on forestry roads... I love the colour with those hubcaps- looks spot on. One of the first purchases i will get when my Viva hits the road will be a old mans hat for parcel shelf!
  13. Here's the link to those voltmeters Von Mako... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Blue-LCD-Digital- ... 2278wt_936
  14. oh blush Tonight we are sleeping in the house. Bloody cockroaches have found our new pad quite a comfy place to live. We are spotting more and more of them. So earlier we taped up any gaps and cleared out all our foodstuffs then set up a fumigator thing 'no cockroachs'. We will leave it over night and hopefully find lots of little bodies in the morning. Cockroaches have become quite common here in Blenheim over the last maybe 3/4 years? Apparently they came down from Gisborne? Well that's what I was told today. Just picturing an old wagon filled up with roaches..." Yeah man- we heading south to.. warm down there eh..lots of food" Anyone else noticed an increase in roaches about?
  15. Not going back to UK for good. Maybe trips back. Nah. I love NZ. We actually have sunshine here! Anyway- I'm a kiwi!!! Rangiora massive!! But your more than welcome to pop over for a weekend- I'll make you cups of tea and you can help me build belly boxes (or fix vivas)
  16. Yeah its fucking cool when peeps on oldschool help each other out!!! I cant wait to begin the build.
  17. I'll find them and put up a link. The only reason we bought two extra was to sell em on turd me and make some money back. They are a bloody bargain!!!
  18. Stereo is all sorted now. And fuses, switches etc all done. I have made allowances for the solar setup we are planning in the future. The little volt meter is a score from ebay - China for $5 USD. They are about $40 here. So I bought 3. Does that mean I saved more?.... The stereo is cool- we got an Ipod one and with the supplied remote I can sit on the couch and change music on ipod. So handy. I will install a decent amp in the future once funds allow (that'll be ages then) so I have made all the wiring very beefy indeed. Even with out an extra amp its great sound with the Mordaunt Short speakers we scored off trade me a while back. They are a touch small but at least they wont chew through the power like my big old Wharfdales do. A decent sound system is very important to me. Once settled in somewhere on our own land I would re install my old Rotel amp and floor standing speakers. So now I'm onto stripping/modifying old house lights we have scored over the past few months here and there.
  19. Cheers Dave. Did ya parents enjoy the travels? Well Uterus is gonna donate me a rx4 housing for the cause!!! Fucking top marks to him! Cheers man!!!! I have a centre plate on the way down too so I think apart from new water seals I'll be all good to go. I've a contact here in Blenheim who builds a lot of rotaries so I might get him to help out with reassembly as ya just cant beat a bit of experience.
  20. my viva has a 12a rotary turbo with a suck through carb- when i get it cert'd will the cert plate say exactly that.? Or will it just say 12a rotary - turbo charged. In the future i may like to change from carb to injection but dont want to re-cert it. Also- if in the future i was to go back to n/a, put a nikki carb back in place and loose 40bhp then surely that wouldn't require a re- cert?
  21. belly boxes for generators, 185 watt solar panel, mppt controller and decent agm battery. More drawers. Cof and then to the beach. after that queenstown and work=money=viva on road=fun.
  22. Looks good- black will be spot on! Love those wheels. Are they painted grey? I must pop in on way down next time for a cuppa and have a looksie since we missed you last time.
  23. cheers man. Its always good to meet another fellow vauxhall nutter. Now get cracking with those cars !
