  1. It is the way, I did all mine in CAD first and it took about 6 iterations to get to the point where they looked like being even vaguely sensible. I was lucky that there was a niceish equal length solution for the length of primaries I needed. Yes have talked/emailed Rob a fair bit we swapped a whole lot of parts a while ago...was stoked to get the little bumpers off him as they are hard to come by - but he got an X1/9 gearbox which is also pretty hard to come by... As for how I go about things, I am a mechanical engineer so I find it pretty easy to convince myself that I know what I am doing I find blaming other people when it turns to shit works pretty well though I have ensured that the headers will be a success as they were so shithouse to begin with that what I have done can be no worse, but thanks for your comments....
  2. Just be getting used to that sort of shit with Italian cars. It is an order of magnitude more amusing when the car is not your daily though... if it is your daily it wears thin after the first 50 incidents/6 months - whichever comes first. I wouldnt be without one though
  3. Jeebus I thought that I was tight for space, but that looks like a nightmare..... How much did you pay for the bends?
  4. Finished sorting the rest of the system today has been a mission fitting it around the unreasonable demands of family life over the last few days. This is the bit of ugly that has prompted all this, I imagine that this would have done nothing for the zorst flow; Also modified the water pipe so that the rubbery bits were away from the hot bits. I like hot rubbery bits as well as any man but only in the right context. Might have to bite the bullet and grind back the welds on the headers, boys have been giving me shit about how rangi it looks......
  5. Basically done except for the wee lick I need to take of the head mating faces to get the heights right for the inlet manifold. Painted them with some shithouse hi temp spray bomb, amazing how being all one colour makes shit look better. I spent most of the time so far fighting the serious fucking wrongness that is my welder, serves me right for only spending $350 on it fuck it is a piece of shit endlessly jamming the feed, so you waste 2 meters of wire when you unjam it and then the bastard jams again while feeding it through, and then does it again. 6 meters of wire wasted for one jam. Fucking wire feed has ONE FUCKING JOB TO DO, that is to feed wire through and it fails at the one task it has been specifically designed to do. grrrrrrr aarrrgggghhhh blllluuuurrrgggghhh /rant Now there is just a mega hack of the existing system to remove some uglyness/make it fit/etc - should be able to do it from what is there....
  6. Gearboxes are the same as v6 transits and Zephyrs/Zodiacs, who knows what they are really.... This gave me lols - a list of parts used in the scimitar that came from other cars; http://www.donkennedy.madasafish.com/Scimitar/AltParts/AltParts.htm
  7. Todays effort; Pipes should all be within 5mm of the correct length as i had to only trim minor shit to get fitment. Also realised that I will need to take bits off the engine to actually fit the fuckers once the secondaries are on.
  8. Heres 3 pipe that I just cranked out; And here is the 4 - 2 collector that I made a couple of months ago in mega hi rez/clarity phonecam version; Have not yet tacked the pipes in place, they are just sitting there making sure the CAD was right and that the pipes will not be burning shit in the bay. Will need to tweak the heater outlet somewhat, it is sitting a bit close to number 4.
  9. So a long time no update, basically because I have just been caning 10 types of shit out of it, it has been lapping it up like the bitch that it is then asking for more. Have been meaning to build some exhaust headers but seems a shame to fuck around with it when it is going so well. The only problem has been truly rampant fuel consumption - 29l/100kms when i finally got around to working it out So a couple of weeks ago I got it tuned, gained better fuel consumption at the expense of a wicked flat spot which basically made it undriveable on the open road. I started fucking with things myself out of sheer frustration and have basically fixed that after many days of it running and sounding like a bag o shite, which turned out to be the exhaust hanging off the manifold and me being too stupid to realise it. Good work dick. Anyway I have a few spare days over chrimble so I thought i would actually build the headers instead of just wanking on about them, so I started yesterday. I had already bought the prebends from Autobend and the flanges from RE automotive in Taranaki, he is a good boy to deal with and pretty cheap. Insert headers here.... One pipe Two pipe Three Pipe Four Except I only got the first two sorted so far.... There will be more in the next couple of days no doubt.
  10. Ha! Triumph 2000/2.5TC/PI/S Front drivers side wing and pillar. Done. Always knew CSI was bullshit.
  11. Legendary italian shit right there, my X1/9 has the same setup, circa 1981.
  12. If you eliminate the impossible etc etc..... It has a sun roof and I cannot see the interior through the rust holes therefore it is not of italian extraction. Fuck it I will do a bit of CSI and solve it right now; Horatio you can suck my dick.
  13. If you get stuck I have a mate who has one in his garage...
  14. Did you ever find one to use? I need a borrow too...
  15. Needs a BOV to achieve the full awesome , but even the bog standard NA ones are hilarious to drive they rev their nuts off. Also I like the idea of more lush Fiat goodness on OS.
  16. I would think that you need to index in the cam, not a hard job but tricky. You need the spec sheet that came with the cam to do it, there is no point guessing it..... http://www.angelfire.com/realm2/autotips/camdegree.html
  17. Yes I know Nick from years back when I used to gasaxe bits off his wrecked 124's to weld up the rust holes in my Silver CC.... I have been whining at him to give me the 15" croma rims off his 124 for a while now but he is just not breaking down. We were out at his uncles place in Loburn a couple of weekends ago, sifting around for some wheels and brakes, but a lot of the Italian stuff is gone from there now. Still good fun looking. Was awesome entertainment actually, Nick took his 850 Sport Abarth which has a 1400/1600 twin cam in it, and we played silly buggers all the way there and back, amazing how many cars you can pass in one go on the John's road roundabouts if you are determined to impress a fellow petrol head....
  18. Ah well, I guess i will actually have to join the Canterbury Fiat Lancia club and put an ad in the newsletter, someone will have something suitable squirreled away.... it is just that they can be strange boys at times and I have been avoiding the inevitable... Or just go with the wobble bolts, but it doesn't feel right to me.....
  19. These boys? I looked at some of these - they have a seriously big offset and weigh literally twice as much as the rims on the car. What I really want is some 14" 124 cromodoras, but they are hard to find and expensive when you do...
  20. And stop this wobble bolt nonsense, call me a boring old cunt but I will never be happy giving it the full beans around ruapuna with a sub optimal wheel attachment system. Either way, no one has actually voiced an opinion as to whether spacers under any non certified circumstances are legal...? Surely someone has tried to get something like this through the WOF...
  21. http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/44/111712844_full.jpg
  22. I quite like these. 39mm offset, which means an extra 12mm to get it to the same place.
  23. I want to change from 4x98mm stud to 4x100 nut. And a 25mm spacer would be fine.....
