Anyone want a shiny new mill* stand?
I paid more than I realised at the time for it, but yeah am open to offers and I can probably get it North of Gisborne very soon too.

*Mill, TV, fishtank, drill press, microwave or even an industrial theme bedside lamp stand.

Got your dad to message the seller of the dud one about how disappointed your are?
Not a bad idea!
How good is your memory of Auckland in 1984? You might be able to help finally solve the mystery of who my dad is then we can get him to send a message for me- 1

Well fuck indeed, but a very positive well fuck this time!
Jumped on TM feeling very sorry for myself to check on the bidding on a dead Chinese copy I'd been eying up for it's good table when I spotted this:
New old genuine Rong Fu for a steal!
So guess what I did...- 5

Well that was a waste of a not inconsiderable amount of time and money.
Went to make up a draw bar from some threaded rod (ewwww Whitworth), it made it maybe a little over halfway down the spindle and jammed up, yeah looking down the spindle bore it's pretty easy to see whySpindle appears to be snapped and out of line, it's jammed up tight enough for drilling but there's a good 0.15-0.20mm of run out on the internal of the MT3 taper.
Can also hold the taper and rock the spline end and it doesn't feel like the taper moves at all.Well fuck.

Was a bit of a mission in the end, delayed a week thanks to Gabrielle etc but I finally have the mill home and almost ready to go.
@Kimjon hooked me up with a set of hand wheels for it, but his is the smaller RF20 so had to do a little boring job to get them on
Started cleaning it up a bit, got the motor back on and have soaked the slides in degreaser to try and free up the ancient oil/grease that has set rock hard and made it super hard to crank!
Also picked up a shiny new stand for it along with a Vertex 5" vice and a few other goodies to get started with
Web pics cause I haven't got around to dealing with the shipping oil they are slathered in yet.- 12

Ah, can you swap the bottle anywhere, even if it was originally from Bunnings? I thought i'd have to swap it there since i technically have the swap "contract" with them?
Might depend on the retailer, but I know my local Tradezone are happy to swap my Bunnings supplied bottle.
The contract is with Coregas (although they are owned by the same company as Bunnings and Blackwoods anyway)

I probably need to make some calls, but does anyone know if you can get the Bunnings ezi-swap bottles refilled elsewhere? The local bunnings are all out of Mig gas and they cant give me an ETA for replacements. I know there is a shortage of CO2, but in wondering if I might have more luck getting it refilled?
NZ safety Blackwoods, plumbing world, Tradezone are all possible places to swap them.
Bunnings are the cheapest for sure though (they own Coregas)

The last Auckland one closed back in October.
There's one Zebra yard left in Whangarei.

After months of searching for the right deal/not getting snaked at the last minute, I have finally got a mill!!
Well currently @Geophy has it, but it'll soon be testing the suspension of my van and then the particle board floor in my shed ha
Now to figure out what I'm going to get toolingwise, have a 5" Kurt clone vice and a Taiwanese ER32 collect chuck in my cart currently but am looking at options.

Hmmm, I dunno why, I just cleared my cache and they worked OK for me.
It's because you're linking directly from Google Photos, you can't hotlink to Photos.

I'd run a half decent semi synthetic 2t oil if it was mine.
Oil pump is under the same cover as the front sprocket, will be a screw or small bolt close to where the oil line from the tank goes in, you just crack it until oil seeps out consistently without air bubbles.
Suzuki recommend in the A50 manual running a small amount of premixed petrol and taking it easy until you see oil in the line by the carb, but they are a pretty hardy pump so I doubt you'll have any issues with it.

Sweet score!
F is the successor to the U series and predecessor to the FR models.
You'll want to fill that side tank with 2t oil and bleed the pump ASAP, old Suzuki's have what they called CCI lubrication, the left crank bearing is oiled directly by a line from the pump and not from fuel.
Depending on year it also is the main oil source for the big end bearing too, injected on the left of the left bearing, makes it's way through that into a plate that is pressed into a hole in the end of the crank pin.

Do I have to tow the poo box with my shit box?
No, just park it on the trailer thanks.

Good luck with the STA bends.
I tried to save a few bucks with them too, the steel they've used is shit and seems to go brittle and crack.
Had one completely snap off right after the flange of my turbo (before you think it was my weld failing it snapped about 10mm behind the weld) leaving me with a rather loud trip between Tauranga and Gisborne. Then another big crack further down by the muffler, I added extra bracing and this last WOF check they pointed out a hole about the size of a 10c coin just completely blown out with 2 big cracks spreading from it.
Been a year and I'm about to remake my complete exhaust from better material.

Theres already a provision for that one.
Which leaves the one right on top free
How many lines does it have? I'm spotting 4.
In from tank, out to pump/rail, overflow back to tank and return from rail/fpr.

Transponder immobiliser is the wording I think you're after
I've had Dynatron alarms with it in the remote fob.

I thought he was all proud of his hot coco!
Nice work man, next time I build a gate it's getting a steel frame, my gates weigh about 40kgs each!
This one's about 50kg of steel and however much 2mx4m of 20mm wood weighs, decent heft to it but still rolls super easy and smooth.
And yes, I was rather proud of my cocoa
