  1. hey, just one thing about the 1.5 SU's, can i get 2 single 1.5's and use the linkages from the 1.25's to make twin 1.5's? thaught it might be a cheaper option as i already have one 1.5 and buying another single is pretty cheap. cheers for the help cam
  2. yea the ones that it came with seemed to cope with the head, valves and cam that had been upgraded quite well, how would i find out what sizing SU's they are, i dont really know what size they are because the guy i baught it off was somewhat clueless, so i may have stumbled across the 1.5's without knowing.
  3. cheers mate, i think ill put a little breather filter on that thingame coming from the block, and yea, a newer roker cover is on its way hopefully well the carbs at the moment are just the standard twin SU's. i want to run a dellorto or weber, but thats easier said than done, as most sideys and maniflods you need to cut into the bulkhead which i am reluctant to do as i want to keep the centre dash, so im looking for a down draught to fit on and maybe open it up a bit.
  4. finally an update, gees, looks good mate
  5. yea white is pretty easy to keep clean, i reckon white/black works out sweet on old cars cos it matches with chrome real nice and gives you quite a few wheel options that will look good, aswel as that, tint doesnt look out of place and if you do your interior black it still gives a real classic look.
  6. lol its not like its gonna be sitting still for long tho, judging by how much he works on it.
  7. yea thats what i was thinking, your ideas for a black/white theme sound pretty sweet, but then again you do have a blue/silver engine. ive got a black white theme in the mini and i think it provides a pretty nice, clean look and it suits quite a few cars, even tho not many people do it

  13. basically stops the oil from sloshing around the sump too much, so that the feed to the oil lines is always sucking in good oil, compared to frothed up oil and air mixture.
  14. just stumbled across this on trade me: franklin Cam services 127 Manukau Road pukekohe
  15. ive heard of a few people doing this... does it have to be a certain type of intercooler or is it basically just what fits.
  16. shit, thats a bit more than i was expecting, i was thinking 500-700 or so, ill probably look into it but it might end up being a non event. are there any negatives (other than the price) compared to a standard radiator?
  17. does any one here have any experience or pros and cons of alloy or race radiators. the one on the 1300 mini engine i got is on the way out with a fair bit of rust along the bottom so im just wondering if it would be a worthwile upgrade to get a custom alloy radiator made up before i drop the engine in. thanks, any recomendations would be much appreciated
  18. yea man, definitly looks like youve done a great job.
  19. thanks guys, does anyone know of a good place for sandblasting in Aucks? i need to get the subframe sanblasted down so i can repaint it. thanks
  20. the best bit of advice is that plan to only do everything once and once only. Plan everything before you start and get whatever parts you can before you start. the paint job will add a greater value to the car if you do everything, paint the engine bay, interior too and youll get alot more if u decide to sell it. as for wheels, look at the parts for sale section, i think theres a reasonably cheap set For Sale there that will look pretty nice if you lower the van a bit. Engine wise it is up to you really. if your not interested in power (yet) then just give the engine a good clean if you take it out and if its been sitting for the past while then do plugs, leads, distributor coil, new oil and flush the water sytem out after you put the new radiator in. As for interior, It all really depends how higher quality you want. A dash restoration can be very costly and if you research more into it you might become comfortable with what youve got. As for seats, take a look on trade me, again its sort of what you want it to be like, now-days you can pick up a set of bucket seats for pretty cheap but you migh prefer the standard seats or an older style of bucket, both of which may cost more than the buckets
  21. i think kwik strip do wheels for $35 a rim soi imagine a head would be about the same
  22. ive got falkens, there pretty good midrange spec, 120 each for 12 inch, and they handle pretty well although im not to sure what theyd be like in a rwd
