  1. sure Will get some better pics when i get some tyres, unless of course its a complete fail, which it might be, 8 and 9 inch is pushing it for standard Mazda guards..
  2. Impulse buy, Found some cheap knock off wheels. 15x8 front and 15x9 Rears - 0 offset, is tight, rims pretty much level with guards front and rear, tyre choice is going to make or break! but certainly won't be 100% legal.. lol.
  3. Lol, nothing flash, just got the standard motor back in it. Got sick of pushing it in and out of the garage to get the mountain bikes out. Just spent any spare engine cash on a trip to japan next year, so would have to sacrifice snowboarding in the weekends to get something fun in the engine bay, I'd rather be at the snow
  4. finally moving under its own power again! now just for new front shocks, raise the front up a bit, wheel alignment, new seatbelts, finish putting some of the interior panels, and go over all the nut bolts over neath, should be on the road again
  5. hey man, recently got one similiar, but am keeping 808, its got amazing interior, but was wondering whats the difference between 808 and rx3 wagon interior? or just dash and centre? Hey, they are actually quite different, the steel dash frame that bolts to the firewall has is different, this has a larger opening to suit the large rx3 centre dash panel that houses all the extra gauges, oil presure, amps fuel etc. The glovebox and plastic around the speedo are the same, just the RX3 has the taco + rev limit buzzer.. In behind. The dash Air vents are chrome plated on the RX3's. The sedans have the center console down to around the handbreak, the coupes and wagons an extra box that sits above the handbreak. RX3's have differnet door panels, they go right up over the coloured panel on the inside of the doors, seats are different, even the window winders on the rx3's had a chrome insert in the centre of the winder.. Then jap spec RX3's - Savanna's are are all different again from the US, AU and NZ spec interiors. Finding any interior RX3 parts now it just about impossible, even most of the RX3's don't seem to have half there bits. NZ RX3 interior Various Jap Savanna interiors
  6. Diff back in! rolling again.. Front sitting a bit low.. going to have to sort out some new suspension I think.. Brand new disks i've had sitting in boxes for over 5 years.. lol
  7. Finally painted the last bit under neath that needed sorting.. Might even have it running some time this year.. woop!
  8. ^ same. Also that dark cherry mica RX8 colour, would be a mish to touch up. Any damage and you will be doing full panels, you can't just blend a small part. every stone chip will show up, then any polish make it stand out 100% more (my old RA23 celica was pretty much the same dark cherry black metalic colour, painfull..) Old school factory flat colours all the way!
  9. Been thinking about this all weekend, whether to keep another year, or time to let it go... Think its time to go http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =361699178
  10. Hey man no problem, they are sitting at home, have just moved everything out of storage into a new house. So finally getting all my shit in one place! Think you have my number, just give me a txt when you have a chance.
  11. Actually thought about that a while back, no idea what their original logo / graphics were like tho, hard to find anything for ref...
  12. Cheers, Not sure what to do with it, having issues storing it at the moment. wish it was a pop top some times, would make it easier to put in someones garage or storage unit! woops typo, was wishfull thinking?.... just an 18R Don't think I put a thread up before, maybe i did, I couldn't find it either.. Sweet as man, clearing out a heap of stuff at the moment that I don't need, so prob sooner the better.
  13. viewtopic.php?f=18&t=26147 Few pics of the random Toyota Hiace Camper I picked up a couple years ago. Wanted to rent one for a mission around the country over new years, were pretty expensive as to rent for the amount of time we wanted, so ended up just buying this. Its the First Camper vans Maui ever built! As purchased off an old couple from Palmy (well there daughter was selling it, didn't know anything about it), wheels were wrong offset and drove like a pig. Found out it had an awning with full sides, bonus! Wanted to get some standard wheels, found this on trademe, 1978 model cheap cheap and pretty rusty! Had a tidy chrome bumper, but unfortunately no rear one.. and finally some standard wheels and hubcaps, van drove million times better just changing the wheels! Suspension was crap, so brand new everything, starting to drive a bit more like it did in 1982 Ready and rolling for new years 08! Unfortunately some dip shit broke into it while it was being stored and smashed the whole interior to get the $120 head unit out.. sigh. They even managed to damage the steering column+ smash the whole column shift unit.. so that needed replacing also. So months of searching for parts, managed to get it all running again before xmas, so loaded the boards, bikes and went for another southisland mish for a few weeks. 18r's starting to hit full speed.. Parked next to a 2010 Maui camper around Nugget point, Latest>Oldest
  14. Cheers, was a bit scary drilling holes in the guards, but I think it suits it. Engine - Honestly no idea. Don't really fancy spending 10k on a motor at the moment. Will see what comes up I guess.
  15. Rolled it out of storage last night and finally got around to fitting jap spec mirrors i've had for a while.
  16. Yeah man, no prob. I bought a set of tail lights to get the 79 model chrome metal surrounds, they all run the same lenses up to 82. So Have a pair of my old lenses sitting in storage, both mint. Will have a look for ya this weekend. rot808 has my cell number, give me a txt as I'm useless and may totally forget about it.. haha.
  17. Oh, might be able to help you out with that one, found some in a box while moving shit around before xmas! Will be interesting if I can find them again tho.. haha.
  18. You don't know any part cars around north island at the moment? 77-82? My passenger window wiper alloy housing thingy finally self destructed when I drove it out for a surf Saturday Looks like you are doing a mint job on the Hiace, body looks very rust free too!
  19. Yeah the stainless rear trims need a different window seal to fit to, they actually clip over a special design rubber trim, won't work on the inlay type 808 rubber trim. The rubbers are quit rare, only came out on the first of the 808 wagons 73's or the RX3 wagons in the states / savannas in japan. the heat in the states has destroyed all most of the rubbers over there. I got some of the trims from the states for my old wagon, then was price raped to get the rubbers for them off a dude in NZ. Have found a few sets over the years since, put one set in my wagon, but pretty sure i have at least one other set sitting there too. Will let ya know!
  20. Heard you got a Savanna GR badge, nice Score! I might have some rubbers for your quarter glass, and a rear stainless trim with rubber if you're interested. They will all be in storage, but clearing out a heap of stuff out this summer, pretty sure there is some in there.
  21. Owned if for about 5 years, just got a bit over it and wanted a change, starting getting interested in Mazda rotaries. That celica owed me about 15k back then scary...! The 18RG was getting tired, and I couldn't find parts back in the 90's! was runing twin side draft 45 webbers that were totally out of tune, drank more gas than any rotary i've ever owned and was still slow.. lol That white RA28 belonged to a mate of mine, he got it stock standard, fitted an 18RG out of wrecked RA23 GT we found, complete with standard twin solex's. lowered it on the 15's other than that was stock. Good to hear its still in one piece! Would possibly own one again if it was a tidy car to start with. Toyota absolutely suck to find parts for, there parts dept do nothing to help out owners of old cars, they just aren't interested. Mazda on the other hand, you can get anything you want with a done of replica parts available. Which you need if you are actually going to drive the thing!
  22. Wasn't saying you were butching it, just saying to see it butchered from the state I saw it in back in 1996... ish? (just to be clear) probably used the wrong words. Was a minta back in the day! I like some of the Jap spec rat look cars, the everything chrome plated blingy autosalon shit i'm not into at all.
  23. When i owned my RA23 back in the 90's your one was rolling around the same time. People kept saying they had seem me somewhere.. your car looked almost identical to mine, just had 15" wheels (mine had 16") Finally spotted it in the late 90's and talked to the owner at the time.. This is my old one.. Kinda sad to see that car butchered, always had a soft spot for the old celicas.. but oh well only a car. A mate is right into these aswell, this place below has just about everything you would ever need. http://english.adessa-project.com/
  24. Yeah the sKiD kIdZ seem to like the electric water pumps, stop cavitation and the water flowing at the same rate when they are bouncing off 13,000 rpm in second gear... They seem to fail quite a bit though, not sure you can beat the reliability of a mechanical pump.
  25. Think the saying is "It is better to shoot for the stars and miss, than aim at the gutter and hit it." or something like that. Yeah i used to be like that, now just give up on putting the 26b PP turbo bla bla ahead of time, as i know in reality that isn't going to happen right now, and I hate waiting. I kind of see my car finished before i even start it, try to stay focused on one small task rather than being overwelmed by the 12000 parts i've got to sand, or paint strip, better to just focus on the one door/guard whatever you're doing. Think this car shit is a total waste of life sometimes. This is definitely the last car i'm ever building, very over spending 100's of hours of spare time choking on paint dust. I'd rather just go to the beach for a surf or go snowboarding.
