  1. I've just copied the width, and location of the old capri rack, just on the other side of the crossmember with the skyline one. i.e. same height, distance from centreline of the crossmember, same distance between inner ball joints etc. should be right eh? kinda hope so cos im just about to weld my new mounts on haha.
  2. yo, what a coincidence, ive been messing round with racks this week too, getting a R33 one to fit in my capri. Capri's width from end of tie rod thread, to end of tie rod thread (no rose joints) equals 43.5" (1105ish) but more importantly, the width between the inner ball joints is 26.5" (measurements taken from a 1974 mk 1 capri.) hope this helps you, i've got a steering rack in a million bits if you want any more measurements off it. chur.
  3. scored all the bits i needed to rangi up some coilovers last week so did a dummy run, they should work with some heavier springs, also fitted the new bearings into my falcon hubs and slapped them on. Stoked to see it sitting low on the new rims, still way too high though... Durty old truckers yo Fury soon to be added...
  4. Yea I made a bit but reckon he got a good score as well tho, 4.5k is cheap enough, he was asking about cheving it, told him ya can bolt it in by buying the bits so that way certing is simple. Did ya tell him what I paid for it? Yeah i agree, 4.5k is quite cheap for one of those, like i was saying, another mate from work happily paid 3 odd thousand for a rusty WB a year or so back. Didnt tell him how much you paid for it either, just said it was my mates old mans faithful old ute. He's stoked with it ay, doubt he'll have a chev in it anytime soon though, he's still got to finish his 351 XY rebuild.
  5. My Boss's son in law cruised past work today to show us his new kingswood ute, Fucken pissed myself when i saw this thing parked in the drive, you made a good lot of money out of him, good on ya mate
  6. yeh mk 2 or 3 diff will be wider, or you could maybe shorten up a borg warner from a falcon ute? they are basically big atlas axles and easy to shorten since the axle tubes are pressed into the centre with only spot welds holding them together (i've never shortened one, just going of other peoples experiences and research ive been doing lately into shortening diffs) apparently all falcon utes have lsd diffs too, roughtly 3.5 ratio.
  7. yo, just measured my diff for ya, drum to drum 1385mm (mk 1 facelift) ratios, (listed in my hanes manual) pre facelift (69 - 72) 2000GT 3.44:1 (english axle) facelift (73 - 74) 2000GT 3.54:1 (english axle) prefacelift 3000GT 3.22:1 (atlas axle) Prefacelift& facelift 3000GT & E (71 on) 3.09:1 (atlas axle) none of the 1.3/1.6 kent or pinto engined capris are covered in my haynes manual but I've found this website quite useful in the past for info on those models http://www.fordcapri.co.uk I'm sure you know escort, and early cortina/anglia heads fit in mk 1 capri 4 cylinder diffs. I've been told that GT 4 cylinder capri's and GT mk 2 cortina's had the strongest of the english diff heads, bigger bearings or something. check with RT but im sure that mk2 onwards capris all had atlas diffs and were either at least 1 inch wider, He put an early capri v6 diff in his mk 2 so he could run wider wheels as it was narrorer. hope this helps. 8. not much of an update.. I'm just stoked to be getting back into it again. sinco customs sure make some pretty gear.. theres no way I could have made a tank look that good for the kind of money he sells them for. Put a return into my tank. I finally finished making and modifying everything and was able to bolt the gearbox up behind the engine, saved alot of money doing all this myself, but it sure took alot longer. heres a pic of the chassis kit i started on a few months ago, should be able to finish it off now i've got another welder sorted out. going to stop talking and thinking about my diff and take a grinder to it later this week.. lets hope for the best eh?
  9. yeah, like i said, i think this guy has to purely cos he's running 25mm spacers I'd wanna run 5 stud with that much bloody leverage too... doesnt worry me at all though, I'm running 5 stud anyway, cheaper and easier wheels and brakes and it means i don't have to restud my hilux diff. fucket, gona go work on the thing now.
  10. shit i just remembered about nismo.capri's weapon too, christ its gonna be all on.
  11. yo, i tore some quads out of a stinky old b1600 ute. they'll fit with a bit of messing around and look kinda average till i can raise the runds to buy some genuine mk1 gxl lights.. god knows where i'll find any. could be worth a shot for you too though ay.
  12. haha, or just buy a welder and a pile pf scrap steel ay. was talkin to a guy the other day who's building a rover v8 mk1 escort, said wayne martin told him he had to run 5 stud with the v8, I'm assuming thats because he's got bubble arches and fucken huge spacers, hopefully capri's will be ok with v8's because they are generally stronger than scrots. fuck its gona be a mean race, all 4 of us eh? (Josh included of course)
  13. yo dude, welcome back. gotta admit ive never liked 2 tone anything, just gonna go solid blue i reckon. real dark and shiny, shouldnt fuck with the shape of the car too much.
  14. bought time i got stuck back into the ol capri after being sidetracked somewhat. running a carter electric lift pump with a bosch 910 HP pump into 3/8 lines, should do the trick until i twin turbo it quite stoked i managed to get hold of a v6 fuel tank with the extra 10 litres i'll sure need it. Gonna run a surge tank in the gap between the 2 pumps. almost finished my radiator mounts too, but of an improvement over the garden twine, Should be alot of progress made on this car over the next few months, so stay tuned. chur.
  15. Its a bit strange to be more worried about running your fuel pumps dry for a few seconds than your engine, even if the plugs aren't in the steels still scraping, I like RT's idea/ never would have thought of it. guess you could use a long allen key with the end cut off instead of butchering a dizzy? How long till shes goin Josh?
  16. seriously, bending steel fuel line = thumb and forefinger, makes for a nice clean job in my opinion.
  17. Did you replace/ recondition your waterpump with your last rebuild? it could possibly be that not pumping enough, then the extra heat could have popped the head gasket. or like whatshisface (who wasit?) said and a gunked up radiator and cooling system, but no doubt you flushed that out when you made it look all pretty etc.
  18. shouldn't be too hard to run your fuel lines under the car, its already got holes in the boot floor and you'd have to make some holes in the firewall anyway, mine's already got half ass mounting points under the car for the standard fuel lines too. I've just started piecing my fuel system together too, should really update my project thread ay. why would it be easier to run them through the car? I'm 90% certain its illegal to run them internally.
  19. yeh, chuck a 4age in it, worthwhile insurance if you ask me.
  20. shit thats a good score, a mate of mine paid 6 times that for a rusty WB a year ago. good stuff.
  21. I'd say the wrecker would get fairly pissed off about that, since everything on the 1uz is torqued to yield. you haven't taped or plugged up the ports by any chance have you? I have to admit i made that mistake and wondered why mine wouldn't turn over once.
  22. I know clearances inside niteparts bellhousings can be an issue, my mate had to take to his 4age one with a hearty grind just to get a ZE flywheel to clear inside it. I really hope its the same problem here.
  23. Yea it was purple but very patchy so I did a quick paint to tidy until i get round to doing a good job on it.... maybe in a year or so Sounds like you knew the old girl, was it before I bought from Gore? Nah, I'm one of Sams mates, I'm building a Lexus v8 powered Capri, can remember talkin to you about it at his 21'st last year, still haven't got hold of that Viva yet eh?
  24. Hey, cool Torana, theres definitely not enough of these around anymore. Did your one used to be purple by any chance?
