  1. Kumeu is the name of the town it's held in - out west by Helensville, not the name of the swapmeet.
  2. Coby should - keep an eye out on Trademe too. I'm pretty sure the exhaust manifold bolt pattern is the same for chan or belt drive 4G32s - it's the inlet manifolds which are different.
  3. Yeah dude chucking a lumpy cam in with otherwise stock carb(s)/exhaust is not going to be nearly as good as if you have the rest to go with it (higher compression ratio, better carbs, better flowing exhaust etc) - and you'll still end up with the tradeoffs of having the lumpy cam. Find a standard cam until you can afford to do the rest of the mods to go with a lumpy cam. Did you get any specs with the cam? It sounds like it's a pretty aggressive grind.
  4. 2L Lancer non turbo of that era? no such thing unless it is diesel. The 1500 in that Lancer will most likely be 4G15 which is a really common engine, or could be a 4G91 if it is a jap import MX-extra model. Is it carb or fuel injected? if injected if you fit a larger engine (ie 4G92 or 4G93) you'll have to swap over the ECU, AFM and injectors too. Best bet is to find out what engine it has exactly, and find another replacement one.
  5. Honestly what do you expect from a lumpy cam? You get more power at high revs (assuming you have the rest to support that revs such as better carbs, extractors and larger exhaust) - but you get a tradeoff with poor drivability at low revs and a not so great idle. Of course the fuel consumption is going to be worse... 4G36 is 1200cc, so the cam is going to have different duration and lift to suit the 1200 and the 1200 only... Sorry can't help with a chain driven cam, only have belt driven cam here.
  6. what about nitrogen filled shocks? obviously wont work for them eh?
  7. more details bro.. like what engine does it have? probably 1800cc pushrod 3T-C carb but you could have a wagon or somethign with 1S/2S motor who knows. It could be throttleplate and mechanism sticking, or the wax element which controls cold starts is faulty and sticking on. Best way is to take air box off carb and check the auto choke is opening when it's fully warmed up. You could also have a vacuum leak which could be causing the high idle when warm too. There's many possibilities dude and without more info us here on teh interwebs can only take stabs in the dark.
  8. Or if the ute has a panhard rod the lowering will push the diff slightly to one side more. Try swapping the wheels over and see if it's the same

    rca's how big?

roll center adjusters I think - it attaches between the strut bottom and the ball joint I think and basically spaces the bottom of the strut out.

As in subaru brumby wheels? They wont even bolt up to anything other than Subarus because of their 4x140mm or something PCD.
  11. check project thread n00b
  12. did you end up getting those reeyums?
  13. looks like the ring lands broke off due to detonation/pre-ignition. Am curious to know what Nissan/Datsun comes out with an EFI A series engine.

yeah if you wanna, they are 175/65 R14, dunno why I thought they were 185/60. They aren't on the rims tho, they need to get fitted.

the 'tron.. dunno how much. you could possibly just borrow them for a little while.

I have some 14x5.5" cressida wheels I was going to chuck on the Corolla, with a set of 185/60 R14 tyres if you are interested.

They look like this, as seen on my Eterna (they were the original wheels): My set are just sitting in my garage but I will probably hang onto them. They are 14x5.5" with a +32mm offset from memory.
  18. I remember driving through garden place but wasn't sure exactly where this wall was
  19. oh yep I think I know where that is
  20. where exactly is this cool mirror wall?
  21. hey ham boes where's the best places in hams to take pics of your car? I wanna get some better pics of the slowbaru to chuck up on TradeMe, and get some pics of the Eterna at another date. chur
  22. that spring seat on the new diff is definitely the same as the spring seat from the original diff?
  23. Yeah one of the wheels had a substancial buckle on the inside, and another one had a buckle but not so servere. They look pretty sweet but are missing centre caps and just need a general tidy up. I think from memory they were 3 piece so surely the centres could be flipped. They didn't have alot of dish on them though so it would look pretty extreme when flipped. They had quite a high offset like 25~30 from memory too. I posted up pics of the wheels on my eterna but would have been in a spam thread months ago which is since deleted. I had pics of the buckles but they were on my last laptop which was stolen. He wanted $350 for them when I was keen, but told him not keen when I saw them.
  24. I tried those wheels on a while ago when I first got the Eterna, they are only 6.5" wide with an offset of around +25mm from memory. Two of the rims had buckles too which he conveniently forgot to mention before I went to look at them.
  25. Yeah just change oil within the first 500km or so anyway, as there will be a bit of metal shavings and debris in there from the rings and bearings bedding in etc. I used cheap valvoline 20W50 then switched to 15W40 and then go to your normal semi-synth oil after 2000kms or so.
