  1. I'm not 100% sure eh. My Celeste when I got it had a 4G32 which is the 1600 and when I removed the engine and gearbox that's when I found that it had EX Lancer written on the box so maybe mine may have been a 4 speed originally but being a 1981 1600XL I would not have thought so eh??? I know that the EX lancer box bolts up to 4G37(1800 FWD) as I've had that engine in my Celeste too. I'm sure now having read what's been written here and I've looked at a couple of pictures of Starion and Sigma boxes on trade me that they will bolt up to my bellhousing but maybe not have the same gearbox mounts and also the clutch fork maybe on the wrong side with the Starion ones. Mine's on the righthand side of the box and is cable. They also look to be a little longer than mine.
  2. Cheers man, Thanks for the info eh. I'm not running a G63 tho. It's a 4G62 1.8 Turbo out of the Cordia, not sure that matters with what you are saying as yes it was obviously originally a FWD engine. Hopefully FUEL and a couple of the other Mitsi nuts may be on line later and will have more to add.
  3. Fellas, I have had several drama's with getting my ratio's right in my Celeste and I came to some interesting conclusions today. I'm running a EX Lancer gearbox which came with my Celeste and I got the part numbers off it and found that its off a 1300 model!!! Could be at least half the reason why it has such short legs! QUESTION: Does anyone know if a G63 equiped Starion or Sigma gearbox will bolt into my Celeste? I'm sure that it will bolt to the bellhousing but I want to know if the gearbox mounts and shifter hole all meet up? Also were they cable or hydrolic clutch? I see SOLJAH is bolting a RWD DOHC 63 into his EX Lancer so I'd be keen to hear from him how it worked out cause he'll more than likely be using a starion box. Cheers.
  4. Like I said before Cuz our 91 is not 91! It's more like 87RON so your poor old engine is havn to contend with not enough OOOPMH from the petrol. Chuck her on 95 which is closer to 91 anyway and do the timing and see how she goes. Even early low compression motors have trouble running on anything below 90RON. Just as a footnote: When I run my car on a mix of 95 and Avgas I get better milage than I've ever got on pump gas alone!
  5. The Libero one at the Wreckers had it written on it in pen to be honest, I diddn't even check it, just went by what it said. I normally just do the mark and count the wheel Vs driveshaft rotations to get diff estimates but in the case of the 2.9 LSD when I got it off the dude we did the count the teeth on the crown and then the math conversion which I havn't used for years and cant remember. He knew it and had worked it out before as he was unsure why a 4 Cyl mitsi diff would be so Tall ratio'd too.
  6. A mate of mine runs an OpenWheeler with a hipo N/A 4AGE and he used quad carbs from a Honda CBR1100. Think they call it the blackbird. He's getting 200+hp from it at nearly 9000 revs. The thing positivly screams!
  7. Couldn't agree more with Fuel on this one. When I was refuelling Aircraft for a job we got to go through both Marsden Point Refinery and then the Depot at Wiri in Auckland where the Fuel from Marsden's Pipeline ends up and the whole thing made me sick. All the grades of Fuel from Jet A1 to Diesel to Petrol all come down the 1 pipe and guess what gets used to flush the pipe out before each Fuel type change? 91 and 95! Petrol. When the petrol goes into the trucks to go to the servo's it's as contaminated as Government Regulations allow it to be! We tested 91RON and found it to be 87RON and 95 struggled to make 91. And we pay top doller for that shit!!! My sugesstion is to use BP 98 if available and reset your static timing to factory and advance to a safe level as like most have been saying "Run On" is usually due to incorrect timing.
  8. What also totally weirded me out today was when I took that LSD head down to my local wreckers and we went fishing through his selection of Mitsi Diffs. We found a 1993 Libero rear Diff (Open Spool) and lined the 2 up together and they looked identical!!! The Libero one was a 3.4 ratio which would probibly suit my car nicely. Anyone had any experience with this???
  9. That's kinda what I figured but then got told that the L200 ones were 10 Bolt pattern??? Also had a mate say that being that wickedly tall it may have been out of an Auto Trans model something........
  10. Right ho, All you mad Mitsi freaks out there, cast ya eyes over these pics and try and ID what car you reckon this LSD is out of. The Diff head on the left is the 4.2 and the right is the LSD(Obviously) with the 2.9 ratio. They look pretty damn same/same too me except for the center! This is the rest of the shit that I got with it but I dunno if it is all a matching set although the axel splines are correct for both Diff heads. They are both 8 bolt patterns too just for reference. Cheers for ya help.
  11. Fuck! Would so be keen for that eh but unfortunitly I'll be over in East Timor again eh. Yea was out and about on Friday night putting some miles on the new engine. Did the Queen Charlotte Drive on Saturday too, that was sooo much fun with all the corners and off camber. I wanted to turn around and go back through again eh!!! I might enter in the River-Lands Street race down here in September 2nd tho.
  12. Cheers man, Havn't had it on the Dyno yet sorry. As the engine is freshly rebuilt I went for a mild road tune first so I can run the engine in and sort out any potential problems. I'm probibly going to open up a hornets nest of disscussion by saying this but my opinion is that Full Power Dyno Runs on a fresh engine are dangerous due to the massive loads placed on them. My road tune cost me $350 and has the car running perfectly at 10psi boost. When it's run in I'm going to have it dyno tuned to get the most out of it and also to establish a power and torque figure. I'll be posting those figures when I have them.
  13. I presume it is. I was told that it is and the 4.2 open spool head fits the housing as does the 2.9LSD. I'm gona get it out of the shed next week and start looking at it so I'll take a couple of photo's and post them on this thread and you can tell me. Watch this space.
  14. Not 100% sure eh??? Think it came from the States actually. I got it off a dude in H Town who was gona use it in a Datsun 1200 coupe project but he ended up selling the datto to Rod Harvey who runs that Black RayGlass Sponsered Drag Car not long after he crashed his one. Spose he used it as a base for his new one. I got the housing, head, axels, brakes and a spare 4.2 open spool. The only thing tho is the housing has mounts for coil spring not leaf spring so I'd say going by that its not out of a Celeste. You may know more??? How say you???
