  1. I actually started to like them a lot more after seeing your one for sale earlier in the year... It seemed to make so much sense as a cruiser and a tow car. Pity mine doesn't have a extras like yours! I'd love central locking and cruise control! Oh yeah? What sort of AFM? One of the oddball ones with the "grey top"?. Cheers man. ......Thats fucken awesome.....
  2. Not yet, haven't had a chance to look at it properly yet... Might have a go at it tomorrow starting with plugs, leads, possible vacuum leaks and a quick look at electrics. Then sort the header leak, clean alternator up, flush coolant, change oil, re-seal rocker cover, clean it, do a skid. Haha that sounds like way too much effort .
  3. Don't worry man, it'll be low soon enough...
  4. Im keen, could have a feed in town somewhere? Others?
  5. Haha volvo spoiler would be sweet . Spring stiffness is the one thing holding the slamming process back... The ones in there are pretty hard so seem to be a good towing spring. Fuck it, I'll just slam the front and then it'll only sit level when the racecar is on the back .
  6. It that just because the car is slammed in that pic? They look way worse in person... FWD offset and 185/60/14 Enduro's... Pretty much using the celica/supras to get away from those tyres. Got clearance? ... These sit much more flush (... although I'm using 20mm spacers to convert the thread pitch). Painted one today and I think it makes them look better / hides the yuckness.
  7. Painted a rim to see if it would make me like them more... I think it did:
  8. Bought this off Kingpin last week, so far pretty happy with it... but has a few little issues to sort out. ... It's not quite this slammed yet... It's gonna get these for the mean time, cleaned up and painted to suit: Then lower it, working out what springs will go in it ATM. As you can see in the general thread, Kingpin had some issues trying to find the right springs... But I'll sort this out by catalogue searching or getting spares to chop . Main duty: Comments? Should it be in other projects cause it's from 1992? .
  9. Heyboe! Sorry I didn't txt back the other day, was busy I guess . Will be at the next one for sure! Might even be on time this time........................ new car to show as well.
  10. BMW Valvetronic setup is really interesting. The shape of the intake port in this vid is interesting as well.
  11. Awesome! Was looking forward to seeing how that turned out.
  12. Have you looked inside the can to see if it's holding any cream or water? Had this happen when running in an engine once and the vapour turned into a water/oil mix inside the small catch tank I had. Mine made visible vapour like you're describing but it also overheated = epic fuckout.
  13. Nah steelies are average on the track man, way too much unsprung weight and no heat dissipation.... it hurts to touch them after a session on the track .
  14. I remember Gaz saying he investigated outer rims at Batmen a while ago? Was a reasonable price to spin them up. Also apparently Howatt engineering in wellington do alloy outer bands for some of the 4WD boys, spin them up to suit etc so you could try them, ask for Brian. And I think someone on here has done the conversion from 1 - 2 piece with a set of Superlight/watanabe style rims... was it Cute wee gem? Edit: Was slidenyo viewtopic.php?f=17&t=9695
  15. Sounds like you're on the right track. Just do the basics to make the carbs work - bit more compression, cam etc. Not sure about specifics of valvetrain etc... Maybe go and ask on clubk?
  16. When you say it's slipping through the gears are you sure you have the gear selector in the right place? They are a pretty crude old setup and you have to have it in the right spot for it to engage properly. It did it when i drove it but just had to find that sweet spot.
  17. So this if your your corona? Go for either steel or alloy sleeves, doesn't make too much difference in the end. Get the thread (if steel) or perch (if alloy) TIG welded on for strength. Choose shocks, those struts are pretty similar to AE86 so you should be able to use AE92 front shocks, which are shorter and have a shorter stroke then any corona replacements you would buy. Decide on what length you want the strut to be and where the thread will come up to, cut and shut to suit. You could make the strut the same height as the shorter AE92 shock but it would be pretty slammed if you did that, so choose where you want it to sit, cut to suit and then use a spacer under the shock to make it sit in the right place. Choose your spring rate and length at the same as doing the thread to make sure they will be captive. 200 or 250mm springs are the go.
  18. I thought this was going to be a "Summer cruiser"?. Will be awesome, bring it to the next OS trackday please .
  19. Look forward to seeing it around Palmy again... Pretty sure you must be sick of sharing that Golf by now?
  20. Pretty sure the Ant Te Rito that has the CRX delsol in SS2000 runs an F20c, and I think the car was built by Mr Strong originally - provided I remembered the conversation right.
  21. Yeah, the going rate for an F20C is about the same as a well prepared race engine of other varieties, but is also has similar power to a well built 2L as well. So you get a fast motor with the option of making it faster later on. The cheapest I've seen a conversion go for lately was $10k, and an f20c motor and box would set you back about the same. it'd be interesting to see the head layout of an F20c, a cross section of ports and view of valve angles to compare to the others posted in this thread.
  22. Not going to comment too much cause I've already learnt more than I know but: Why does it matter what the flow is when the valve is closed? No more air/fuel is going to make it into the engine. Also in my experience smaller ports have been proven to work better, and I believe that velocity of air, as well as tumble and swirl are the most important characteristics of a good port. I'm going to go browse Toyspeed for a while to find the million talks about helmholtz
  23. Whereabouts is the setup? Palmy? Let me know too, pretty certain my brother would be keen on that for the VB110. He won't need to save the cash either... damn engineers. Yeah man in palmy. PM me and I'll give you his e-mail.
  24. He's going next month I think.
  25. I know of an SR20DET conversion w/ loom, ecu and gearbox, 140km S14 blacktop for $1000 - The dude is moving to Iraq soon so needs a quick sale.
