Had a wee bit of a setback with the paint job.... i.e I picked it up on Sunday and it had absolutely nothing done. Been a bit of an ongoing saga over the last few months which I wont go into detail on here but cars back at mine now. Cheers Russ, Hayholeymo, Blinky, Dunchole for the lift Sunday So over the last 3 evenings I've managed to strip back the easy parts of the engine bay, weld up couple dozen engine bay holes, remove a bunch of brackets, and weld in a patch over a larger hole. Also got diff sussed and talked to Mr Bateman re wheels. So major setback but at least we have progress again. Gaz

Sorry I meant limited to muffler size under car rather than exhaust pipe size.

2inch. If its in an escort your limited to size of muffler that can fit under body but 1x resonator mid by tunnel and 1x muffler at rear is what Ive usually run. I used a turboflow type muff in the rear of one setup and it was nice, not teenage loud but not quiet either. Gaz

Toyo T1r - 225 40 14 Pretty happy with the look pre wheel install! Should match 195 45 14 fronts no probs. Now have a set (4) of 185 55 14s for sale approx 50% tread. $300 (one or maybe two have little bit of sidewall damage from memory. Gaz

Got a S5 alt with twin belt pulley. Pulled it apart today so I can have it powder coated but might aswell rebuild same time. Needed smaller int reg alt to side mount so it doesn't get in way of sidedraft air flow... (in theory?) Also have def lost the other engine bay cowl panel. Have asked powder coater to keep an eye out for it but I cant 100% member if I gave it to him or not! Gaz

They zinc coated under the powder coat on my stuff to make it last longer, costs little bit more but worth it. Guess its still only as good as the prep that goes in though. Wonder why they use nickel as the base when chroming stuffs..... cant be arsed googling Gaz

I think itll be used about that much ^^^ to be honest. Was building the Chevette up as the everyday cruiser but doubt thatll ever be finished now that funds are......dead/sunk/0 I think thats what ill do with the diff after the new brackets are put on, flapper, etch, paint. Was thinking maybe the perfect use for that hammerite finish paint? Or maybe some of that kinda rubber paint as it dont chip easy. Gaz

Yeh I think in this case the prep will be the problem rather than th pc. Items had surface rust and pitting. They sandblasted and then zinc coated but not sure about rust treatment. You can still see rust patches under pc so I am expecting it to bleed out eventually or maybe lift/chip the pc. Looks mint for now and saved me prepping and painting bits/lazy. I think im still going to get the other suspension parts done once test fitted but maybe not the rear axle.

Powdercoating done. Think I either forgot to send in one engine bay shield or they didn't return it. Prob better check. Got more stuff to coat at a later date so no real major. I'm not 100% sure its the best way to combat rusty underbody parts but time will tell. Gaz

Yuh they seem to be rare but peps still pay more for the sedan version it seems. Not in this one to sell so no worries for me. Tryn to get rolling for Feb. .. fingers crossed yo car return mud Oct.

Toyo t1r 225 40 14s ordered. Parts at powdercoaters due for pickup next week. Car been bare metal n epoxied. . Panel beater starting next week. S5 rx7 alt purchased. Chrome for sills on way from aus. Rear Mazda badge on way from aus. Slightly better bumper brought in Auckland. Gaz

Jus aswell I didnt follow service manual it said 5.8l for engine with std oil cooler and I put only 5l in with larger cooler. MMust have diff sump on it. Gaz

Engine + cooler took 5l of 10w30 Running, need timing light to time it a bit better now, this running straight of the stab. Oil pressure sweet as. Temp sitting over 100 n not going down so needa look into shitty old sender unit, timing, and thermo. But all in all good result, im stoked that engine runs as it was a bit of a gamble purchase. Gaz
