  1. question. What is that thing on the front valence pic? the long tube looking thing? by the bumper. Also gotta love the 69 single handle/locks. Better than the key lock under trick.
  2. Since im bored ill post up a bit more. Since b4. have decided to rebuild a 2l cheaply for now to get a warrent and roll to Welly in while i save for parts. The rebuild will be cheap as since i have all the parts here and am only paying maybe a few hundy for reboring and grinding of crank. Its a 2l block with ported 1600head. will run at 10.3 compression 2l valves FR cam (specs below on yellow card) Secondhand pistons 60tho (best set i had) New bearings etc etc Lightened flywheel HD clutch Jetted 32/36 Thats about it. should be all back togther and going in a few weeks. Heres a few pics of the stuff right at this mo. Cam details. These are boring so thats enuf for now

    ca18det

150hp doable with the Pinto. 4age would be good too
  4. Gaz

    ca18det

Its basically the same as putting an sr20det in an escort. Ps. Why cant you use google yourself? like this. open http://www.google.com type in the search bar something along the lines of "ca18det" "escort" conversion. Then just read the articals.... That easy. Have a go.
  5. Gotta love them. Especially the cold morning drives when you have to do brake accelerator brake at the first few intersections
  6. i have Sierra efi manifold maybe for sale.

    TE gemini

Would be happy to if i had the car still. Sold it when i moved to Welly. Will own another one day with a 13b-t setup and some tubs Yeah the gearstick is in a funny place in those gems. Better engine tho i think.

    TE gemini

Dunno if im right but isnt a gem engine bay basically the same as a vauxhall chevette? If so then ca18det or sr20det would be a good conversion. I looked into a few conversions for my vauxhall. Bedford 2l was the easiest but still old engine. I wanted new. I looked into ca18det and had that basically priced up for 5g with about 50% work myself and 50% paid for. (gearbox tunnel, mounts, exhaust) I decided on 13b-t at the end and did have half the stuff for that conversion when decided to move out. Still have some measurments for mounts etc if you are interested. (vauxhall tho)
  9. my garage door has a nice mark on it too.

    Esky Diffs

Yes correct. Very very good luck finding one. I keept my eye out for one for years to no avail. just got the newer hilux diff instead. Mazda B2000 can also be good.
  11. Dunno about your 2l calipers on the front. The rear Ghia drums are good. really only the front that needs work. What power do you have? The best way is to go with bigger disks but how big you go depends on your wheel size. 15inch can accomodate 300mm disks and AP calipers. Even just AP clipers would do a fair amount of differance. There is some AP calipers on trademe right now for $100 reserve. PM me if you want larger disks.
  12. sr20de would be good. or just a standard sr20det. When are you looking at doing the conversion?

    quick steer rack

    hahaha. thats class
  14. Damn nice car man, What engine do these come with? Any plans for a change to maybe a newer rb20, 25, 26, or 30
  15. NOTE TO NEWBS: No posting in users project threads. The place to post is their Project disccusion thread... here is the one to this project... http://www.oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewto ... 42&start=0 Brought it as a padock hack for $70.00 Converted it to round headlights with some other gaurds and gave it a quick primmer paint ready for a VIN. mmm new plates. Here it is soon after i got it. New primmer I then changed the 1300 to a 1600kent and put mk2 sport discs and adjustable suspension in and brought some new wheels. Sounds and GTX seats. New Wheels Got sick of the old Kent and went for a 2lpinto with a slight cam, rejetted carb and an exhaust system. The old girl could now leave decent rubber marks.... Time for a new paint job and sent it into the shop for a 6month metal spray in a custom silver/blue/gold/ pearl. Also changed the seats to SiR bucket seats. In painters Finished. Decided the 2l needed to go or a turbo bolted on so started sourcing parts and reaserching for pinto turbo. After a few months changed plan and decided that the turbo pinto was not quite enough power for me. I have now decided to take the car of the road for a year or two and do the mother of all conversions a SR20det. Have started to buy parts for this conversion and have a mechanic all lined up. Will keep you all updated as i get the car out of the garage and into the workshop to be sliced and diced.

    1600 head on 2ltr

Yeap that way works a treat. Just watch out if the screwdriver slips.

    SR20,RB20,EJ20,Pinto

Well those are four very very differant engines. a 4cylinder, a 6cylinder, aboxer and the good ol pinto. I am doing an sr20det into an escort at the mo, I previously had the pinto in there. The RB20 wont fit without moving the firewall back awhole lot. I didnt look at the Boxer engine. I would say because it is so wide it wouldnt fit in my mk1 escort bay. What car do YOU actually want to put this engine into?
  21. That would make sense. As i said in the other post there is something about the Hillman diffs that make the diff reversable. maybe not tho as i have just been searching google for an hour to no luck.
  22. i think this topic is a waste of time.....
  23. ring up archers in rotorua on sunset road. they will do them for half that price if i remember right. the front two in my old escort cost $60. i think it is $60 a pair if you take them out of strut yourself or $75 if they have to take them out of struts. That was a few years back now.
