  1. Keen as a bean. I'll even pay you on the day this time. (Not three months later when I Remember)
  2. Any wounders wanting to bring a bike across, heres the selection I looked up just now. Blue bridge is a tiny bit cheaper, but their sailings are timed better IMHO.
  3. Has anyone given much thought to the nuts and bolts of this trip? ( beyond the once they need to undo, and do up, and and, and do up on the bikes) who's keen to share a dorm at the lake whakamarino lodge? (I'm aiming for the very cheapest possible option) I'm dead keen to out the distance between fuel stops. I've got a dinky wee 2l gas can. But if it's too far between gas stops I'll need a larger (mor cumbersome) gas can.
  4. Actually going by a coon page I joined looking for parts, the EA coons seem to be worth considerably more than a certain much newer model. So technically Igor's coon goon is already an appreciating classic!
  5. I don't think so. When I bled the side that doesn't pull I never noticed anything.
  6. Getting them good hot was the first thing I tried.
  7. What town are you in again? I'm game to ride that far. But all the way to the J-5 ranch is a bridge too far.
  8. Great idea. but no. It pre-dates abs.
  9. If the cup on the piston is fucked, your accelerator pump won't discharge when you dump the gas. This will give you all of the flat spots. But that area is still flooded with gas. And there's a check ball in the bottom of the accelerator well. So yeah air shouldn't be able to infiltrate your fuel metering circuit from that torn boot. I've had a few carbs that were flat spot/bog happy. Ebay is the cheapest place to buy a carb kit. Or you can buy a whole new china one off aliexpress. Or just buy a 1 3/4 SU from a 2.5 trumpet and modify your manifold. (I'm sure and old barry like you could tune one of them in your sleep)
  10. That accelerator pump boot wont be your air leak. the piston is sealed in it's bore. the area above the float level in the carb is vented anyway. And the float chamber top has a gasket around the venturi anyway. It does pay to check that the top is dead flat. If it's been apart a few times overzealous school boys tightening up the screws can warp the lid leaving an air gap.
  11. Just been doing my due diligence. The Lake Whakamarino Lodge at Tuai is around 10kms further than the Lake Waikaremoana Holiday Park. (Give or take) And a single dorm bed is only $30 per night. And I can get a mean hot feed, and a cooked breakfast there. That also means, no carrying a tent, or a bedroll. (Those were a p.i.t.a. last year) Plus after sleeping in/on K-marts finest at the batch (with bruised ribs) I swore I wasn't doing that again. I'd defo prefer to stay with the majority of the other participants. But I'm too smart/old and fucked to be roughing it.
  12. Yes it does have a very convaluted looking valve arrangement. Looks like I'm replacing that next. Anyone wrecking a honda Rafaga? (I think ascot might be the same)
  13. any lower north island people planning on coming? (Welles/kapiti) If no one local to me is keen, I'm thinking I'll ride to Picton. Then try scab a ride to J-5's. I'm also undecided if I soup up my super reliable Dio for more top end, or pull the trigger on a big block scooter. (It's a 50cc sir, honest) I only rode the Dylab once. But I Really like how nimble the Dio is.
  14. I'd have to look. the left front tyre is shitty too. I'm going to try swapping the best one onto that corner too.
  15. Do they have them left to right?
  16. Is the Base plate of the carb worn, of the thottle shaft? I have a large box of carb stuff.
  17. Fucking hell Michael. you really have got it bad havent you! There's a cruise in two weeks if youre road legal.
  18. The pads are the mega dusty kind. But have lots of meat
