  1. It will 100% need a rekit. I wouldnt put too much stock in what racecar guys ran. A road car will have completely different requirements. In fact in more recent times (like after a book I have called "how to modify and super tune Holley carburetors" was printed) they produced a 465cfm vac sec. Which goes well on a 5ltr v8. People are always overcarburating their engines. One dirt track neanderthal at work bragged how well a 900cfm carb went on some "small" ford in line 6. (Might have been a 221?) On one engine I saw first hand a 390cfm 4bbl would light the tyres with a stock converted when given a hard stomp. Yet with a 600 it would not.
  2. What size is in it now? Does it have a secondary metering block with jets, or just holes? I got really good at taking mine apart. They're a pretty basic carb. They're not cheap, but a 390 would be way more responsive on your engine. Higher air speed through the venturi would make for strong bottom.end torque.
  3. I'd be running the chain off a reel mower. I've broken too many bike chains to take the chance. If that chain fails, its GAME OVER! For your engine. The oil pump chain drive from a Mazda rotary is double row no? Some things should always be over engineered imho.
  4. Everytime I've dealt with them they rub me up the wrong way. Their customer service is rubbish.
  5. Run a high zinc oil too. I've heard many good things about kennelly. I'll use him next time. I'll never use kelfords again.
  6. Did you have your lifters faced too? Which shop did you use?
  7. That would probably do the job of underlay quite nicely. And at that price it's worth a shot.
  8. I only show up to get the sticker. I dont even like small bikes......
  9. I saw a video where a guy used a mixture of extra cut compound, and fast orange pumice hand cleaner with a 3m pad on a buffer. It took a while, but the got some deep scratches out. Then did the whole screen for max clarity
  10. Did this have a u12 instrument cluster? Or am I thinking of another datsun?
  11. Do you have a picture of where those bars attach at the bottom? On saturday I came I to possession of a ct90 K0. (Apparently they're rare/oldschool/desirable/I'm new to CTs so I dont know) but those bars arent there.
  12. I've had plugs that were like basically new that wouldnt run properly/engine broke down under load.
  13. When john van beek shortened @datsunboy axles, he said they were still hard enough that they needed need to be re heat treated. That car (now owned by Dan Adam's aka kids) has done untold skids/5th gear "O"s five up on 18psi. After he made it stupid low it has done a few CV's. But they're cheap and plentiful. I have a complete spare r200 CV axle conversion. And well as some spare R30 style outer companion flanges if you're looking.
  14. Cut and respline is the way. Is your car Luke Keegans old one? Or was that someone else? The R200 is a monster bit of kit behind most engines.
  15. Also, add to your shopping list the rear diff from a 4wd primera. As I understand it, they're an R180 VlSD. With CV axles. (Get those too) since the 4wd primera are actually a primera body on a 4wd Avenair chassis, theres a decent chance the rear diff from a 4wd Aveniar will also be an R180 VLSD.
  16. Good score fella. It's a pretty solid car all in all.
  17. In its defense, the balmoral straight is uphill when you're heading south.
  18. Finally redeemed my air nz credit from 'rona nats. So my flights are locked in to come to the other island for this small bike extravaganza.
  19. Amazon. Came out to like $190 ish?
  20. Any tips on what kind of motor felt to use Greg? I've been tempted to use house underlay, (because cheap/free) but it's not really anything like the right stuff to use.
  21. I got the 80mil. (Its only a single cab ute) it looks quite thick too. Easily as thick as the non foil backed stuff originally used by datsun/if not more so.
  22. Arrived on the courier fifteen minutes ago.
