i'm sick of my esky reving so high at 100kph i was thinking about puting a 3.54 diff in but then i'ld lose to much bottom end speed so i thought it would be better to through a 5 speed in. What's the best box to put in and easyest to fit. cheers ps i have a mk2 1300 with a 1600 in it

I got a carb the other day it seems to work i havn't put it in yet it has a return line. can i run the return line though a y thing through the breather on my esky? or do i have to drill a hole and stuff?

yeah i think i saw that mk1 is that a green one? i think that ws made with a pinto block and a new head, cant remember exactly though

has anyone looked at putting a efi engine in there escort? what engine fit's in easy and is easy to get hold of. I know there are sierra 2.0 efi engines but they arn't that common are they. I have heard that a old 1.8 sylvia engine was the same mounts and fit's and i have seen a few 4age's in escorts what's the story with this hard work or easy go ahead and do it. cheers

what do they check for at the cert, i've heard that it's just an intense wof, for a 1300 to 1600 esky swap there's not much to check really just standard wof thing's like brake tests and stuff

but wouldn't you have to get it certed to change the ownership details if you wanted to change it from 1.3 to 1.6. do you have to cert lowering if it's only 2 inchs? or less? = more than 100 off the ground

do you need to cert a 1.6 in a esky if it was originally a 1.3. I'll need to change the papers but can i just do that without getting a cert

yeah make sure you use valvemasters or upper cylinder oil the iddiot who owned my car before me didn't so i ended up with burnt valves. ALL OF THEM!!!!.

I have just got a instrument cluster (dashboard) from a mk2 sport to put in my 1300 GL i have pulled the old one out and there is a speedo cable easy enough and a loom with a big clip on it about 8 wires which i think is for all the warning light etc and then there's another loom that i went to the fuel and temp gauge, the new dash doesn't have a space for the small loom, it does but thats for the speedo, do i havve to rewire the fuel and temp gauge? cheers

where's the best place to buy flared gaurds from?. I have a smasked in back left wheel arch and it's a prick of a thing to get fare again i'm thinking about just bashing it out and the putting flares over top.

i've got a webber dgav 38/40 (i think) off a 2L cortina, so i'm assuming the jets are to big for a standard 1600, what will happen if i just through that carb on? just lean the mixture out a bit and it'll be sweet? or should i get the right carb, I have done a bit of work to my 1600, new cam and bigger valves. cheers

Yeah il'd have to agree with pushrod, I have going to do that to my 1600 but got put off it for some reason, can't remember why but i got my head worked and that will raise the compression, a good set of carbs (sidedraft if you can find/afford them), race cam and you got enough power for the street. I re-ringed mine too havn't stuck it back together yet but will let you know how it goes when it's done. should be bout 2 weeks and my esky will get born again!!!

I'm pretty much ready for my paint job, now i need to know how much paint and primer to get. 4L thinners 1L etch primer 1L putty primer 2L of topcoat that doesn't need a clear coat does that sound about right for a 4 door mk2 esky only painting the outside?

dunno 13 x something they just have 185's on them, just standard rims. do you need to put flared gaurds to fit 205's?

he reckoned the gears were to long on the sierra, couldn't get back up to speed quick enough

i talked to another guy that does circuit racing and he is just running a 4 speed and doesn't recommend a sierra box. He said if i wanted a 5 speed it's better to get a celica box

I have a problem with understeer in my esky, have heard a few people say they have the same problem. What the most effective but not to costly way to get round this, I was thinking of cutting the sway bars off another esky and make up a bracket so there ends up being double sway bars and then putting stiffer springs in the back

I've heard that 5 speed on a esky isn't good, a guy was telling me that they are made with four gears for a reason any thought's on this?

lowering it, raise it man then you can go anywhere lol. how much where the springs are they new? i want to lower mine a bit just 2 inchs or something

has anyone evr painted a pearl? I can get some pearl for cheap off a mate who didn't end up using it. I am keen to paint my car myself, what do i need to know about painting pearl? just leave it for the pro's or just take my time?
