  1. DAMN BRO, thats lookin so fuckin cool! Ur gonna suprise a lot of people in that beastie! The colour is pearla 2 man, Im gonna do my next project (mk1 dr) that colour too when it eventuates! Lol, my centre console has that shithouse warped bit too where it comes off the steel, might look into that in more detail while its out... Is it a 1300?? N dat coby rite at the back is bad as - oldschool! wish I had a better exhaust, or a motor, or money...Im in a tight spot Again, tight boss.

  5. BAAAAAACCCCK to the leaks topic, I took a 'mental health' day off skool and pulled the scort 2 bits again (gettin good now!) 2 investigate the soaking carpet issue. Tore the console, carpet, glove box, flexi heater pipes, instruments n all shit so I could get a good look in, then undid the heater hoses in the engine bay, unscrewed the heater unit and pulled it out, ripped up all the fucked out sound deadening n found the source - rust hole in the back of the heater plenum I believe, kinda ran outta time 2 make sure. Luckily, my parts car came from central otago and has been nun-dry its whole life, stole the sound deadening from it 2 go into greenscort 2morro! Ill get sum pix so uz can c if its ur problem 2.

I made a new set yesterday outta 6cl falcon ones, my mate gave them 2 me n the coil ends were diff 2 escorts, so I cut the ends off all and wacked the old terminal things and rubber boots of the scort onto the newies! Look flash as and FREE, FREE i tells ya!
  8. Ooooo you mean the actual gagues! Naaa that might b a mish.You may be able to buy a decal set at some auto shop that would stick on ova the painted bits? or you could get some white gagues from the U.K at mad cost.
  9. Its piss easy 2 do, once you take the instrument 'box' out, unscrew all the srews and take everything apart, you are left with a plastic piece - the bit you see. Prime it first if u have some spray lyin about, makes it easier, and matt paints would be more suitable so as not 2 glare 2 much. Yea I thought I was bein a bit ricer, but everything can be put back 2 original as i have 2 of everything.

  11. It usually coupes that have the cable variety,and would be a bit hard 2 pull off in a 4dr. Reason being that u gotta get the cable as straight as possible with the least amount of shit in the way. You cant really run the cable under the carpet coz there would be alot of resistance w/ rubbing against the carpet n floor.

    Mine was siezed solid n i got it 4 $100, with extractors, understanding id have 2 rebuild it. Pulled it apart 2day n got it moving again (mad rust in #4) and all the bearings are damn near new! broke a ring, but they were pooz anyway n was gunna get sum all along. Now just need valve guides, head and sump gasket sets, re-seat valves (got tools of da trade 4 that) n shel b schweet! Also got a suprise 2 c its got a race sump! Yay, an excuse 2 c if it works
  13. Yall mean an automatic boot popper? Its a wee solenoid motor thats hookedup 2 da lock n mounted in the boot (or lid if u get a small enuf 1), wired onto power, earth? and a button on dash. I can find out more if ya want, dads got 1 in the charger, my bro had one in all his escorts...dead easy 2 hook up.

  18. Hey all, Finally bought a 1600 for the scort, needs some rings, exhaust man/extractors and my 32 weber on manifold - $100. Im pretty hard up and dont wanna go hard boring it n shit yet, but ive heard about putting 1300 pistons in the 1600s and it raises the compression ratio? Just happen to have a spare 1300 now and was wondering if its worth doing... Mechanicals arent a prob and i can handle most things. Do i have to swap the whole piston and connecting rod or can i get away with putting the piston on the 1600 rods (are they the same size in other words!) Im sure ill come up with new questions so keep checkin back

    paint jobs

    Well i guess it may depend on the paint you will get, but i had four litres of topcoat, about 6 of thinners (dont skimp on this, as it will give you a nice thin coat and better shine), 4L of primer putty and i didnt go 4 clear. Hope this helps
  20. Cool, these is an outside chance it was the same car... Where was he livin when he had it? Did it have a windback sunroof and the rego # HJ8167? Looking on the papers it seems it was in the Otago area around then.
  21. Escorta, its one of the side on pics, but its good that ya cant notice it! Id REALLY love some pics if you have any of ur old mans capri!!! What engine was it runnin? Ive herd that there wasnt a kit made for these, but the one on ours fits no prob, hasnt been moded. He got it for $4000 haha It was in a guys shed for 15 yrs and he wanted back what he paid for it. Seems its rare as fuck, hope 2 find out more.
  22. I made mine in one afternoon from sum 2" box section i had lyin around. Poached the longer U bolts outta the mk1 corty They are good for something afterall!!! joking... Anyone know how 2 cure the whole back-axle-sitting-back-further-than-standard-once-u-put-blocks-in thing?? look at the pix on my site, u should b able 2 notice it. Its not a big deal but it kinda bugs me when im in a shithouse mood.

  24. Well my old man got them from BNT and haggled heaps, got them 4 $151.90!! Ive no idea how much they have lowered it as ive dun 1 side only. And ride? the cars half stripped and half sanded already, so probably no trips 2 c for a wee while. He got the lowest springs for capris b4 u have 2 change the suspension, so they r not quite superlows.
  25. Escorta got it str8 for dropping the front struts, the pri-bar bit ne way, i just did it an hour ago on a mk1 capri... Its so much easier to handle when out and spring compressors are like $25 unless u can borrow them off a garage. I just took out the factory coils and put in Cobra lowering springs, didnt even need the compressor to put the Cobras on!!! much shorter... Ill do the other side 2morro and should see how low i got it Ideally u want 2 ppl doin the job.
