  1. Just picked this up last night. Bit of a spare of the moment purchase but i felt the need to have it. 1975 Diahatsu MAX wagon. 360cc stroke. It runs well. Plans are to take it shopping and collect the mail. P.S. its the car on the left of the picture. Disc fred //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/43122-r100s-ring-ding-ding-wagon/
  2. Will start a build thread next week fo sho. I also have a spare engine from an old max i used to own along with some contacts for max parts.
  3. Yup. Riiiiing ding ding ding ding ding is the sweet sound i will hopefully here this weekend.
  4. IF i get it it will be left stock. maybe...
  5. Yup. Been pretty keen to get my hands on one again. Being a wagon is especially cool. Will have to check it out and get it ready for a VTNZ inspection. I may not win it yet as im not going to pay stupid money for it. It closes just after midnight so i may be in bed
  6. So it was you who bought this turd! Looks pretty tidy. When do you pick it up ?
  7. Thought id chuck the engine a trans conversion on trade me. As things have changed and progressed the 304 isnt ideally what i want. Would like a lumpy chevy with auto. Not sure what exactly, small block most likely unless i can get an alloy bigblock.
  8. That price includes everything you would need to do a V6 commy conversion or use the package for another vehicle.
  9. I knew if i asked on here i would get some good replies! I have a complete running EF falcon , a VR commodore and a VP commodore all complete cars with 6 cylinders. Interesting the T5s came out in Jap cars. I never knew that. I still have my 20B RX5 here with no gearbox aswell as my 304 HQ holden that may need something done in the gearbox department. If i sell my gearboxes they need to be sold as an engine/gearbox transplant conversion for around $1250 each.
  10. So i have a few T5 Borg warner gearboxes. I dont know much about them except they are used behind Fords and Holdens. Im not even sure they are Borg warners, Maybe they are tremecs ? Whats the difference.. Anyone run one in there cars ? Are they rubbish. Whats the strenght like compared to a W series Toyota box ? Finding good information on them on the interweb is hard.
  11. Beetle is a 61. Completely stock standard. Still 6 volt. All i plan to do to it in the near future is lower it with a set of period looking wheels. Told my 3 year old it will be his one day. He thinks its cool !
  12. Does it start up yet and go weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ?
  13. Simplest solution i came up with was to drop the mags off at arrow wheels. They tell me they have and do this sort of thing all the time. Theres just a big weld around the inside of the mag that needs to be machined/ lathed off. Move the spokes towards the outer part of the rim 25mm or there abouts and re-weld. Not sure what they will charge me as yet. If its too much then i may just order some new front wheels from America. Could then put the old ones on a caravan to match.
  14. What he said ^ the wheel track has already been narrowed up 30mm each side already.
  15. This is correct. Normally one could just fit a spacer but i need to move the wheel center out approx 25mm aswell as fitting a 25mm spacer to give the hub more "meat"
  16. Magneato's are nice looking rims, good thing about the Boydes wheels they arnt that common. Lots of rip off china versions about though so ive heard. It has a triangulated 4 link rear however there are only 3 mounts to the diff its self, with 4 to the body. Will get some more detailed pictures up once i get it back to my workshop and up on the hoist.
  17. Stud pattern is Holden commodore. Whatever that is? 120x5 i think. Not sure on my offset. I orginally had the wheels made to order but that was over 6 years ago now. Most of the fab work is or has been done by Diffs R Us or The Steel Surgeon.
  18. Got some spare cash now so decided its time to get this thing finished. Last week i picked up a set of HSV VE discs and calipers. These are a factory fitted 4 pot caliper from AP Racing to Suit HSV VE commodores. 365mm front discs and 350mm rear. They cost me the price of a small child but due to the size of the 20" rims i seriously needed something to fill the gap. The front calipers are huge, which has lead to more problems. They hit on the spokes. Now i could just go and buy a couple of new rims but at over $1000 each from Boyde coddingtons in imearica ive decided to get the centers cut out of mine and re welded 20mm further out to clear the brakes. They are a 2 piece design, Arrow wheels tell me its not a problem. Also recently purchased is a set or airbags. Only control i have is front and rear, not left and right. This is all i want. I will be adapting a pair of VE holden rear hubs to allow fitment of the VE handbrake set up. (brake shoes inside disc) Lots of other things are progessing at the moment but will wait till i get some decent progress pictures.

    hilux engine

Seeing as i wreck 4x4's for a living ill share a bit of my knowledge. Isuzu bighorns. Good value for what you get. Although the diesels suffer from blown head gaskets and front pulley keyway stripping out (very common fault) other than that there's zillions of them around and they are built tough Nissan Terranos (d21 shape) Diesels are good if you find a good one, getting old now but generally the engines are pretty bullet proof. Manual gearboxes often break. Suffer from rust. The V6 ones go well. More reliable than the diesels. Drink lots of fuel though, not as much fuel as a V6 Surf though!
  20. Haven't done any updates for 9 months but i am still building this. Forklifts are lots of fun. Picture below showing my donor engine and 5 speed. Currently the chassis below is a LWB but i will be swapping over all the running gear from the LWB to a SWB chassis i have. The V6's have bigger brakes and bigger diffs than the 4 cylinder utes. Although i constantly change my mind when it comes to wheels i think ive decided on a set of widened 15" steelies. Maybe 15x9" or 15x10" all round with some 265 60 15 tires and raised white lettering.
  21. Make sure you keep it piston and dont put those rx2 tailights on the back. Keep it Left hook.
  22. Update. Im now 40 and still nothings been done. Motors probably seized as i havent tried turning it in years.
