Well, seeing as it could be back on the road soon I felt I should put this up. Background: I got it off some asian dude, and prick had reversed into the door/smashed with a sledgehammer or something. So i picked it up for cheapish (for a GT anyway) but it need work. Put mates white door on it, still need to get a new one. This pic was a couple days after i picked it up: Tuff eh? A little different now though. Fisrt time on the motor way the speedo went to 200 and kept going around. Hit the rest at 0 mark and then the needle fell off... Mate took it for a thrash and rooted the exhaust, the flange on the std manifold broke so i got some cheap LCB extractors for it. The current reason its off the road: Took ages to find a head as mine was fucked, but I got got one from Strong For Hondas in the Hutt, with a 3 month warenty. Head was ment to be done on Thurs so I'll pick it up on Monday and do it that night I hope. Only Hopefully if i get this mad job i might have some more money to spend on it. I wrote that in parts so no doubt it's incoherent. Future for this puppy? Rust Paint (Copper Fire agian. Nothing beats brown) 12*6" Superlites (if i can get some from England. Dish and 165 stretch) Lowered/maybe Hi-lo adjusties in chrome. Adjustable bottom arms etc. Speedo Maybe 1330 or something In no particular order is the above.

I see your point too Defcon but this inst really a dime a dozen car. I say go for it. Better than some goon who will wreck it. oh yea, the Starlet, can't wait to see that thing skid the quarter at motown

Where the shit did this come from. popped out like a salmon and hit me in the jacobs. Hopefully Mini will have head back on Friday...or Monday. Thats if this one isn't cracked either.

Needs chin lip, external oil cooler, and lower. Do it. Rims suit it to a T though.
-
rotahavik.co.nz is a good place. you will need all new mounts, engine and box. new driveshaft, rad to keep up, oil cooler, the whole deal. go a heap harder that a 4k, esp good exhaust, carb, ported. frount mounting it maybe eisier, just a box tube with 2 45deg plates on it. or side mount, if the center plate is over the starlet xmember. nedskool 13bs are side i think. 12a cosmo plates are side mount i think but you could alsways just put a front mount front cover on.

Lol this happened on this old Scrapheap Challenge I saw....can't remember how they got it to drive foward in reverse though.

!!!!!!! WOAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!! That thing is profoundly awesome! jizz!!! But on a serious note...that = super hawt bro. and the dish is sensational. And the 2 tone...wow.
-
Got oil in it? They run real hot when you down on oil. And then you may be needing oil cooler...external of course..

Putting them back in is a bit of a cunt. You have to wigle it round and there will always be the last courner that will be a mish. If you're getting new seals and stuff take get a window place to do it as they will guarantee it and they also have the little tool to put the locking strip back in.
-
Once the locking strip is out as Methodz said get a couple people in there. remember push with equal distrobutions. Make sure someone is there to catch the windscreen. There may also be a strip on the inside.
-
They will be welded on. It's British....pricks. Cut the guard away and then grind the spot welds. Like the grind the guard section so it heats up the weld and comes off easier. Use pliers. Try and keep the lip the guard is welded on to in the best condition possible. And dont forget there is a 99% chance your now guard won't line up properly.

Ke3X changed to 114.3 afaik. 20s etc are 110

With only 205-215 then I would think that rolling would be sifficient.
-
Ahhh, I see you bought this. I went and looked at it a year ago or something and ended up deciding against it ... *looks at rust work done* phewww lol! Top job. Good to see something a bit diff in NZ scence instead of the usual plain pinto or going for a diff engine, 4age etc. Theres also a pic of you and your one of your other escorts up at uni, noticed it matched off your site Just wondering where didyou get your EDIS setup from? Cheers.

Stagered mig welding won't warp it. Use grinder to cut -> clean up -> weld -> clean up -> make sure water tight etc.
-
That happened to a mates BMW at `100k. His 17 past him adn jumped into a paddock. Ripped the guard in half pretty much, like ripped up the middle and all bent back. So lol.
-
Yea. You also have to clear coat all metallics as they are porous.
-
Nah, it happens in both boxes. So i don't thing its a gearbox problem but clutch.... I'm not so clued up on this one.

It all depents how patient you are,. With all your blcokign back and guide coats dont forget too. I've seen thousand dollar jobs look like $5grand jobs. Just depends on skills and time.
