  1. On a car as small as a KE20, I think you'd be stupid to put anything larger than a 2½" tip, you could always get a bit of 2½" bent and then cut and welded onto the end of the muffler of your choice.

    escort gears

I can get roughly 120kph in third, with 2 to go. However my speedo reading is slow due to the wrong amount of teeth on the gear cog, I don't tend to go much faster than that ever though and usually only when passing. Speeding is naughty. Then again... I dont have a Pusscort, so this is of no use to you.
  3. Here's one guy in the US running a 510 with an Z18ET http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Pit/9191/Datsunstuff.html And here's a little info off one of the links on that site about the Z18ET http://www.geocities.com/billdacat8/Z18etinfo.html Aaaaaaand there's probably a good amount of information on the forums here; http://www.910bluebird.com/
  4. The Z-series engines are basically a crossflow version of the L-series engines, with parts interchangable, the Z18ET engines are good engines, most Nissan engines are long lasting and reliable, not all, but most, always have potential.
  5. Good thing it's on a Jetboat, a 500 Holley would be serious overkill on a roadgoing SR20. I used to run a 350 Holley on a 202 (3.3 litres) and that was overkill sounded cool though.

    308 questions

Shame you had to sell that. I'd love one of 'em. It's a shame due to all the nonsense in the 70's (fuel, oil, insurance etc.) that they didn't get to make the GTR-XU2

    308 questions

Also, what's the application? You may be better off with a Buick based 3.8 V6 from a VN or later Commonwhore, they haul ass and provide a lot better fuel economy, coupled with a supercharger and you're looking at some serious grunt, of course, then you lose the economy

    Escort motor mods.

No. But if you want a good box, get a Celica one or a Supra one and a bellhousing to suit, except they'd both probably be overkill on anything but a seriously modded Escort powerplant.

    308 questions

Rocker covers can be changed, if it's a 308, it'll be cast into the block on the left hand side (right if you're looking into the bonnet from the front of the car.)
  11. Only if it's mechnical secondary (and even then i'm not 100% that it would), if it's vacuum secondary, which I assume it will be then ... no, not when the car is off. I'm sure you can figure out why. Maybe some shit got into your secondary try a carb rebuild, parts shouldn't be too hard to get I wouldn't think. I solved my annoying carb cutout problem by changing to twins.

    4age question

Yeah but filter socks usually strap/tie to the trumpets/air horns. ODD! but intriguing.. someone wanna scan a pic and fling 'er on the net so I can go "OOH, look at that!" ??? Something to look out for in NZPC, a guy in the Skyline club recently imported a 32GT-R from Japan which had a lot of mods listed but when it arrived had even more that weren't. All hell breaks loose at 5krpm in 3rd and 4th gears causing wheelspin and g-forces for africa. She should be featured in an upcoming magazine, they've already been down to take pictures etc. In my eyes, it should be on the cover, but I don't know whether it will be. BUT KEEP AN EYE OUT!

    4age question

Directly on the inlets or on the end of the trumpets?
  14. Some early rolla's are 110. I know because I took the Chrome Weller 8-spokes off my brother's old 1971 Levin and put them on my old 1976 MkII Escort, because there's only 2mm difference between 110 and 108, some wheels will fit. kruzdy, you probably need (as z|gen already mentioned) shank style nuts, they have a wee sleeve that fills the gap you were seeing when they "weren't quite centred".

    4age question

Why?? even the wheeziest, worn out older 4AGE would go harder than the smelly British lump that used to be in it

    4age question

I might be able to help you out with a 4AGE from one of those stupid FX rolla's as well.. was talking to a guy the other day, I'm in Invers though and the engine is just north of Gore but if you're keen let me know.

    plugs and leads

What he said.. an MSD Blaster or Mallory is a decent but not overly expensive upgrade keeping in mind there's different coils for electronic or points based ignitions.
  19. Tell ya what... I'll sponsor your 4G63T conversion if you sponsor my RB26DETT conversion.

    radiator leak

Well, the Laurel was a Straight-6 NA Diesel 5 speed and it was cheap as chip no matter how much assholes you gave it Turbo 4cyl Diesels do eat a bit more gas though, I believe the Serena Turbo Diesel van they used to have went through a bit more gas, was a Full-time 4WD one which doesnt help either.
  21. kyteler

    radiator leak

Yeah, good call.. that's why I want a diesel too, I've been around the South Island in my parents old C33 Laurel RD28, filled it up maybe 4 times at the most, and that's up and down and side to side a couple of times. Diesels are sweet!

    radiator leak

Bugger dude. What about flicking that daily off to some poor schmo and getting a cheap ass modern car as ya daily?
  23. kyteler

    radiator leak

waterpumps cost near $100 and are a piece of piss to replace, it would have been more epensive if it actually was the radiator most likely!

    Escort probs

^^ what he said. But also, are the leads going to the right cylinders? ie. is it in the right firing order, because if it's sending spark to a cylinder that isn't getting fuel or compression at that stage then you'll also be getting nowhere. Also, with the dizzy, I can't recall my Escort too well but can the dizzy be put on backwards? if so, maybe it WAS on backwards and thusly no matter what you did with the timing adjustment, you were always going to be wrong. Just another thought or two.

    Escort probs

If you're getting fuel AND spark, have you tried the advancing or retarding the timing, perhaps it's just too far out of whack.
