  1. Anyways, been away most weekends this year tbh, progress is in form of baby steps. Will bite into it this coming weekend and put a dent in the interior/rust etc work Heres a few pix from mocking up the engine mount and such: -cardboard mockup- mocking up the plates and some new rubber universals (rated around 550kg) tacking up to take to engineers welded up by an engineer, ready to pretty up
  2. i found beginnings of cancer in mine mostly in the front footwells under the underlay and a bit in the boot but not too much. otherwise perhaps sills and the bottom of the boot hatch. google Baxter's niva site for info etc
  3. nice one man, looks like a Cossack, probably says it too under that ugly powerbuilt sticker. lol missmatched suzuki rims. should be good. sing out if you have any probs, ive also got the fat manual/bible if needed w/ exploded views
  4. tuneable ECU and clutch options would be a lesser worry on a transplant like this I'd say. Money solves them easy enough
  5. any other applications people have seen? Im keen to convert the lada to rack, no idea where to start tho
  6. thanks dude. the idea is to drive it occasionally. airflow shouldn't be a problem as it will be right up front of the car. space behind is something around 100mm but I imagine this will be taken up by fans and shroud if poss.
  7. just wondering if anyone is clued in to (I'm not) what radiator dimensions are required for certain applications and how to come about the needed specs. Basically I'm running this BPT thing, so 1800 dohc truebro. I want to use my grill cavity to mount a radiator, wether it be a custom made one or I find something already made up. Cavity measurements are just roughly 600mm or so wide (maybe an inch either way) by around 290mm high x 70mm deep approx. Would a radiator with these as overall dimensions do the job?
  8. if you wanted to go that way ive got a couple of second hand stainless cannons you can have. polish them up asnd away you go. Decent condish for lets say 20buck pick up. got a couple of other random mufflers you can look at. PM me
  9. outstanding work mate, too much chrome for me but alas each to their own. great stuff
  10. yup that's the one. seems a hell of a lot easier doing mx5 to bpt conversion than bpt rwd anything else
  11. so sweet! the champagne colour looks pretty good on it dropped mig is awesome too
  12. Im actually digging this for being a bit different. Its coming up very nice man. I need a FE3 block if you got spare hehe
  13. ive no idea to be honest, just asked for a 1.8 sump as i diidnt know better TBH its at engineers now getting worked on and a oil return put on so should be ok
  14. strange. did you get a mx5 turb sump or NA?
  15. hey mate, did your 1.8 NA sump fit straight on or did you have to machine it a bit? I found that the FWD GTX sump has oval grooves machined out of the edges of the mounting face, the NA doesnt making it about 5-10mm shy of bolting up?
  16. well the centre of the diff is at 330 aprox (on stands) and the geabox output 420. they are about 1080 apart which i worked out on paper to scale to be 4 degrees, does that answer it? here are pix of the engine jacked up front to clear the steering. looks like an odd angle, is there an issue with this?
  17. at the moment, gbox end is at 4 degree angle to diff. After advice form ADL going to try tilting the front of the engine up by maybe 20-25mm and gearbox end down around 10mm. will make it look a bit silly i think but the drive angles should be a bit more tolerable.
  18. sure man if youre ever around roskill/lynfield area hit me up. I just went for a chat at ADL about the clearance issue, he reccomended slanting the front of the engine up which might clear the steering rack, probably not the steering arm tho. bit worried about oil supply with that tho. at the moment, full right lock on steer fouls on gearbox slave/cluth fork. not by much but enough
  19. im just doing this at home, so everything is by eye at this stage. not hugely worried about longevity as the car won't be a daily, just dont want it to go bang
  20. Ive got a question about the angle the driveline/driveshaft sits on. I know the driveshafts usually have a couple of degree angle coming into the diff but i have some clearance issues up front meaning the engine/box hits the steering if it nice and flat and straight back to the diff. Can i mount the engine and box a bit higher (shaft will be on more of an angle, not hug but not horizontal either). Otherwise move the front of the engine slightly to the left (driveline wouldnt be runing exactly north-south, just barely off) which seems really odd. I guess Im asking how far off can I have the driveshaft angle without shaking the car apart any ideas? cheers
  21. also bought these, both need some work but a great start
