    Block leak

Cheers dude, yeah shoulda thought of that, am not keen to strip her as i just rebuilt it, but i guess its right on the dowels, and i do not want metal filings in the oil! Perhaps time to invest in some vlt pistons while im at it. Cheers, def'

    Block leak

Yeah that would have been the idea, but the problem now is that the thread has been drilled from my efforts, so pulling it out, would just lead to a bigger hole. I need to cover the whole area some how, block it off, so no oil comes out, kinda hard at 100 psi o/p. Def'

    Block leak

The blocks leaking oil from where the temp sender was snapped off. Tryed to use an easy out to get it out, but it snaped off! Tryed to drill it out, but hit the hardend steel from the easy-out and drilled the block instead. Ive tryed covering the fuck out of it with metal putty(knead it ect) but it still manages to leak out. Any one got any ideas, I thought about progressivly tac welding it, but with an iron block theres a chance it might crack. Def'
  7. Yeah as ww said, crank it by hand a few times to see if the valves hit the pistons, if not then you sweet. I never used the bright links when i did my timing, and it was spot on. Def'
  8. Very wipe topic to cover, but really, a carb should be chosen to suit the engine, not the other way round. T here are so many differnt carb's avalible its not funny. There is no real answer to this question. You can have a single down draught like a 32/36 or 34 adm or the v8 sorta range of carbs, holly's n demons ect. I have twin down draughts, exactly the same as a side draught but made for verticle aplication. The only disadvatane of this type of carb over a sidey is it doesnt flow as well because of the 90'' bend. But i doubt you'd notice the difference if you bolted up the same size side draughts to my engine. Cant really attempt to answer the question with out any details of your engine. Def'
  9. Dont know about the first question, but ill take a stab at the second as say, yes- it will run, but will prob run like crap, ie back fire detonate ect, ive put 91 in my old rwd 323 before and it would pre-detonate all the time, in fact, you could turn the engine of and it would continue running for about a minute(mechanicle fuel pump). Most likely it will just drive like a pig and use more fuel on 91' so defeats the purpose of stingeing out on 98. Def'
  10. This is how i rolled my guards. I made sure i had loose wheel nuts then went for a drive, some where along the line the wheel will come off and jam between your guard and the road, because you going 50+ k's an hour whe wheel still spins and hence rolls your guard. Be carefull to have the right sized rim tho, cause if tis to small, you will just end up damaging your lower control arm. Lucky for me i had the rim calculations correct. Def'
  11. A gloss BLACK. Ever since i was young ive wanted a shiny black car. There was this movie, Had 5 or so black porsches chasing this other car (it mite have been herbie not sure) and they looked killer in black. So yeah i like the idea of a Glossy black Coupe. Proberly a lacquer for simplicity's sake. Unsure of whether or not to paint the grill and tail(presently sliver) and what colour. Of course ive gota get her on the road and all legal before i can begin to think about paint. Def'
  12. Haha, well i dont actully plan on keeping it salmon, getting it painted is priority. The primer was just to cover the spots where the paint had all flaked of. Eg a whole door and rear panel, Decided just to give it a quick sand all over and spray the whole thing, rather then have a horid mix of the gross green colour with primer doors and pannels. Def'
  13. Cheers, the colour is "Rustic Orange" or..... orange filler primer to be correct. Were in rather a hurry to get the engine in (had to be done by end of uni-holidays) so ripping every thing out and spraying the bay wasnt really an option. BTW, it is an absloute bastard to keep clean, in order to remove grease stains u must sand and re-spray Def'
  14. Engine and box finally in, but with a whole host of now apparant porblems to fix, Oil leaking out of the bock where the pressure sender snaped off- clutch no engaging- so the box has to come out again, the box also needs a new rear out put seal. Pic's as goes so far. And yes, we did actually put the 2ltr in at night in the rain, that is devotion! both Zep and I were rolling around in puddles of water with bugger all light trying to align a drive shaft.
  15. As long as you have the head set up right you should be sweet. There should be a mark on the cam, that lines up with a mark on the head some where, With those two lined up, and the crank on TDC ( Make sure its on tdc for cyclinder number one!) line all the links up with the marks and you should be good to go. Crank it by hand a few times times to make sure the valves dont hit the pistons and then all you gota do is time the dizzy again. Def'
  16. Could just go carb setup, efis pretty expensive manly cause of th cost of a comp, but efi is definatly more tuneable. Would be cheap as doing a carbi s/c set up. Just need to set up a carb, say 32/36 for boost, get an air box wielded up for the carb, some piping work done. Make brackets for the s/c and et up some sorta belt tensioner and your away. Def
  17. Update, 15" ssr wheels, Engine to go in ,starting monday. Gauges installed,
  18. LOL lowlancer, how long has it been? I got twin idf's, i love twins.....my missus is one, indentical...just like my carb's ...Mmmmm

    TE gemini

MMm your tempting me again zep,*goes and searches trade me for rodeos* , not to expensive to put in, but i wana eventully go f/i so i couldnt afford to turbo one .

    TE gemini

not for a 4de1, over here they would have to be custom made, the rodeo engines wernt intended performance engines so theres not really an abundance of off the shelf cheap parts. cant even get em for a g200 or g161 over here, so it would be very expensive. Of course u could just run low boost, the engines are pretty strong, with lowish static comp. Def'
  21. 200hp from a standard sohc 2ltr at the wheels, u must be joking? If thats correct it will go like the clappers! The gem had bugger all sound deadening, doesnt have much toelse to rip out either....thats stuff sucks to pull out!

At least 10 grand just for the engine in and running. Brakes= http://www.giant.net.au/users/wight/Option%202%20-%20Performance%20Disks.htm looking bout 700 there and thats only front brakes, or coudl go a cheaper way and get piazza front brakes- kinda hard to find these days tho. Diff- zzr gemini lsd-you wont find one, or piazza turbo lsd, im still looking for one (theres one in christchurch) 300 ruffly. A pretty expensive option in the end, there are plenty of cheaper options: like turboing the 1600 or droping in a rodeo 2ltr turbo/ super charged, or the rodeo 2.3 and 2.6 ltrs. http://www.hotgemini.com/viewtopic.php?t=27513&highlight=ca18det hope that helps a little, def
  23. How come you didnt go the dohc 4g63 route? Any particular reason- doesnt work with rwd?? Just interested. Def'
