  1. even ef/l if you get a au,just try it for fit first..
  2. uh yeh centrepoint...my bad...new it was one the 2.. tbh i think the xr6 motors are over rated a bit, ok for stock use.. but if decide to get a cam grind and run a carby just run a lpg motor and get the headgasket replaced for reliability.. chuck in a set of good plugs from a xr6... try and run the ea/eb dizzy if you can..theyr alot cheaper and easier to get than the xf dizzys. just watch the sumps on the au as theyr alloy and very bulky...pretty sure you can throw a steel sump on them though. ive seen rods fly out the botton when one has let go, good fireworks show..
  3. but the eb head would be the one to use if you wanted to go that way..
  4. get a lpg motor for high compression...and get the cam machined to a high lift
  5. you can get 4 barrel manifolds for these on trademe at the moment, exspensive though... and au xr6 would win
  6. ea/eb manifold(multipoint i believe) with xf webber.. xf 2 wire dizzy is easiest can use a ef/l dizzy but takes a bit more dicking round. pretty filthy pic but you get the idea..i had a nylon spacer on this as we had to run a restrictor..
  7. its has that sick diesel turbo sound too...awesome just need to get that trans filled and it should be good as.. the trans pipes are just a temp fix to make sure shes all good before i spend coin on it..i just used fuel line for now.
  8. ive got a ld28 sitting in the shed doing squat, you wannit? would need rings id say and a hone.. or just rape it fro the crank and do a stroker l28 with triplets
  9. oh i found the atf leak, the 2 pipes going to the trans cooler had rubbed together for ages and had finally burst open..cut sections out and replaced with rubber hose...win
  10. i have had a win people... thanks for ya help cam,and the motivation to not set fire to it instead.. went back out and cracked every possible fuel line fitting, cranked it non stop for ages..tightened them back up. cranked again for ages and it almost caught, then nothing again,so did it over and over again a couple of times.. then the last time it started to catch i kept up it with the starter, and she fired, and ran on...idled so sweet.. pump mustv been full of airlocks id say.. but seeing as the trans is now empty of atf again she wont go anywhere, i put in about 1l of atf,and she slips but moves, so a win aswell. will fill her up tomorrow and see how it goes. will also need to make up mew exhaust mounts cos the cotton reel mounts broke( shouldnt have had that type of mount anyway).. ill just use some conveyor belt rubber sandwhiched together, drill a holl through it and bolt it on ;p lol rangi i know... might even take it for a wof now...YO!!!
  11. the oil hose to the alt is split...engne oil everywhere, atf is coming from a trans line.. i was jumping it with the tractor, which sped up the cranking speed, thats all the difference was... just wanna get it fired up so i know its gonna run before i spend anymore coin on it.
  12. now shes getting the odd hint of wanting to fire but thats it... but, now theres oil and atf all over the show..i can sense a bonfire coming on...bloody thing... i cant see a primer on the pump anywhere........ cant take the cut off solenoid out with pulling the pump to bits..
  13. no smoke at all. it has a elec pump from the tank to the filter head
  14. ok so i put another ld28 into the van. was told it ran sweet when taken out of the last vehicle it was in. ive hooked everything up and it wont fire..not even a hint of an attempt.. theres fuel at the injectors, theres power at the injector pump shut off switch thing and shes turning over.. power also at the glow plugs... any suggestions???
  15. arent there some vw/audi stuff that fit escorts? maybe you could look into euro bits fitting
  16. thats a good conversion right there... or what about a mx5 1800?? 4age? easy to fit,reliable..
  17. DO NOT do a 5stud conversion...cos thats the D1 thing to do.go against the grain man... first 4dr skyline that ive actually liked the look of for some reason.. nice
  18. got the replacement engine in, but it wont fire up. not sure whats up with it. tehres 12v at the injector pump switch fuel flowing at the pump glow plugs glowing.. maybe the cranking speed is too low...does seem to be slow...
  19. get hold of a local car club(rally or circuit) and theyll let you know who to go to
  20. tap the solenoid with a hammer
  21. thats the one escorto... but the platform could be brought down in front of the axle tube aswell.. stockcar coilover kits arent good for rd cars..as the sleeve just sits over the shock. if you wanted to use speedway gear youd be best to go with affco superstock stuff.. the springs are easy to get in any length and spring rates. ohallorans probably do the best stockcar set ups and you can get them from edge race parts etc..HRP also do them and im pretty sure carlos chestnut(steel surgeon) would aswell
  22. if i had any skils at ms paint id draw it up... make a platform so to speak on the diff with a hole in it..bolt in a rod end/jose joint/heim joint etc so that it sits vertically, and then mount the coilover to that... id say youd need to use 5/8s joints...http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 584445.htm have it sitting up like in this pic... see what i mean? if you make the platform triangulated and gusseted it would be strong as hell and piss all maching...youll only need to drill 1 hole in each platform for the rod end to go into...
  23. weld a perch onto the axle housing and bolt a rod end on it, then the coilover could mount to that
  24. i could picture superlites but i dont know how itd look with the paint...the chrome oldschool look is awesome on it
  25. you can get 15x8 quicktricks cant ya?? thats if you wanna keep that look. some smoothies would look the biz on it
