Late to Deliboy spam but it reminded me of my fave square vehicle in the world. Toyota Kijang. 5K powered. Looks like a small shipping container with a crude box welded on the front to fit an engine.

Observations: frame looks reasonably rugged. The hub motors have plastic planetary gears with miniscule bearings and all the other componentary looks underdone. One of the bikes had completely stripped gears, another with a completely toasted battery. The newest one just needed a new throttle grip. Took it for a hoon, and I can see the appeal of an electric bike, but the ubco wouldn’t threaten a 50cc scoot performance wise and I was disappointed in the low quality of everything but the frame.
Yep, the original design team that made that version of the product had only ticked off about half of the end goals for the 2X2 before they got fed up and left around the same time. The CEO that followed didn't give a flying fuck about improving the product and spent millions trying to hire their old workmates from a previous company to be a big bloated USA based executive team that would wine and dine to the rate of thousands per meal on company money while the customer service team in NZ was getting another dozen phone calls that day about the same issues they got calls about yesterday. The issues were all known, all brought to attention, and the new development team that came on were all directionless combined with the fact they were all to ego driven to try improve the existing product. They only wanted to work on entirely new things.
It was so bad the head of technical support resigned out of dissatisfaction. I had direct yarns with the development guy designing the improved brakes for a postal model (the mountain bike brake pads would last maybe 2 weeks max on a farm). He was 6 months into the project and didn't know that there were different options for brake fluid at the time and also didn't know that their goal (a bike faster than 50kph, MC reg) would require CBS brakes at the bare minimum. That development guy ended up resigning and moving on at the end of the brake project thinking he'd done a great job. The new brakes were thrown onto a few of the existing moped registration models and they changed the colour then tried to call it an entirely new model. Funnily enough when the postal model eventually came out (not long before liquidation) they'd had an entire redesign to be a CBS system. Essentially confirming the first brake project they'd spend likely tens or hundreds of thousands on was entirely irrelevant.
It was a shit show of the highest calibre and I'm honestly surprised they coasted along for such a long time after the first layoffs.

Not progress, or adventures or whatever I know, so flame away if need be, but it's just nice to get back on the horse so to speak.
Just because the bike is capable of dope adventures doesn't mean every ride needs to be one. I see a dude commuting one of these sometimes in Tauranga. Any ride counts. You could even imitate a GS rider and do a coffee tour of town for shits and giggles. Great photos. Keep it coming!

Such a wicked story and so well produced. Worth a sit down and watch with this one:

The OG tricity's were 125 and are worth avoiding, you can feel the engine just sitting on/near the limiter the whole time.
150s are a big improvement and the 300 is obviously quite a bit peppier. Only thing worth taking into account is the condition of the front end stuff if second hand. 4 forks and 2 wheels adds up if seals and tyres need doing at the same time.-

So... how does someone who doesn't know their scooters tell what is and isn't based on the GY6 platform?
Yeah as Tori says - anything 4 stroke 50 and from China is generally GY6.
Don't go ham just yet though - still to finalise the idea for classes. May end up proper Le Man's spec with two engine classes in the same race. That can be a mid winter thought. And yeah bigger GY6 donks exist but to be eligible for a high value GM trophy you'd need to have started with a 50.-

It's no secret among mates that I cannae be fucked doing events much anymore. Life moves on and all that. I had a bad run of shit times with hosting them (once a dude tried to pick a fight with farmers on the side of the road, another set of dudes would get can't walk levels of inebriated if you didn't keep an eye on them, People can be dicks - yadda yadda)
So anyway last year I mustered enough bothers to host Garlic Masters one last time as it's always a nice opportunity to socialise with bike weirdos and do cool stuff.
Satdee rolled around and those invited turned up - everyone was respectful, well behaved and in a racing mood. Here's some photos (stolen from facebook thanks to the likes of @64valiant and others)

It went well as you can see by @Geophy's smile in the third photo. All the attendees kept yarning about 'next year' too so I guess that's a thing. After how well this thing ran it's certainly reinvigorated my energy levels for organising - especially when it's a 'private' event like this it's much easier to whittle out the diddles.
GY6 class will likely replace CVT class next time as @Tumeke proved there is good value to be had with a 50 bottom end and some mildly spicy china parts. All around good times. Would trade again. A+-

So you got laid off aswell? The article makes it sound like immediate shut down.
They had a few rounds of layoffs - first was December 2022 which is when I went out.

They’ve been burning through ridiculous amount of cash for years. The whole postal stuff they’ve secured recently was meant to be the original plan of attack back in 2021 but a new CEO stepped in and started essentially a vanity project which shifted the entire focus onto establishing a direct to consumer retail presence in the USA. That inevitably burnt through millions of $$$$. While that happened the development of a future bike model wasn’t a priority and nek minit they’re laying off 40% of the staff (back in 2022). That CEO was replaced and the most recent dude re ignited the push to get the bike into postal fleets. They produced a new model quite quickly to service that market but it seems to have been too little too late to save the entire thing.
From what I’ve heard they’ll still try to maintain the postal fleets with a different entity but retail is done. Time will tell though. Receiver process takes a while to work out.

Link please?
The rat shit brakes are the Achilles heel of the NBC.
This one actually has everything including the hub. Would need to respoke OG front rim to this hub and you're golden.
This is the link you would send NMF and tell him you want the 'fullset complete' sent to CHCH NZ and what would the total be: https://shopee.com.my/🔥FULLSET🔥-fork-ex5-set-upgred-disk-brake-model-dash-i.59173811.2446193512
Link won't actually work unless you login - can just choose to login with faceballs and everything will show.
Listing looks like this:

I have a Suzuki DRZ400 I want to trade for something the missis can ride like a CT200 automatic or a CT110,
Depending on the condition of the Dozer you might find someone that'll want to straight swap for a CT125. Would have to hunt around though. They're about $7k all in brand new.

I found the parts on Shopee Malaysia (which is a bit of a ballache as it doesn't like non Malaysia residents trying to use it) and sent a list of what I wanted to Nick @ NMF Garage (Just search on Facebook, hes a GC in Malaysia, recommend by others and I had a great experience) who bought them all and got sent to himself, then shipped to me as one package.
You can get generic ones as well which wouldn't be hard to make work. @GuyWithAviators has one on his v90, not sure if its model specific or just a random one made to work.
Try Lazada too for anyone out there searching for Malaysian parts. Shopee and Lazada often price compete and you can get stuff for super cheap which always helps when shipping is the biggest cost. So many cool parts.
You can even get a bolt on disk brake conversion kit for an NBC110 for $80 NZD (of course thats probs $200-250 landed but still mega cheap)
Mr NMF Garage is great also. Here's us with the dude when he drove 4 hours/350KM to drop off Andrew some Daihatsu parts in Kuala Lumpur. We spent about 45 minutes together and ate a Roti. Great service.

Small bike enthusiast I may be. But I have ridden a lot of hooley doovidsuns and would trade again. Glad to see you with this @cletus. So tell us the plans, no one buys one of these and keeps it as they found it.

Those come in little LED versions which I use on the Wave. Is it just white light behind a yellow lens?
Not saying you should get this specific listing but it's just an example. I haven't really seen them on the shelves in NZ except for at Panda mart in chch for some reason. May need a new flasher unit to go along with them.

Had some dirt nangs in the weekend thanks to a 1 hour endurance teams race with @HighLUX. $150 mudbug did the trick until it didn't.

@cletus in the couple of years I got to touch butts with a bajillion Harley’s all I can say is sit on them and try them out for size. Some of the bigger engines in the newer ones are by no means ‘slow’ but of course in comparison to a conventional engine of the same capacity they lack. I rode a couple of fat boys with none of the gunk attached that made me think twice about air compressors and one had a 120R motor. Very fun. Sent you some videos on the gram.

Nice bike! But believe it or not that’d be too small. The thought process began with wanting an auto scoot. PCX160 or similar as I’ve borrowed a ‘big’ cc scoot lately and enjoyed it alot. Especially for city riding.
I was set on that being my next buy for about 2-3 months and then started looking at what else I can get for the money and it all spiralled from there.
The good thing is, coming from small bikes everything is more powerful and bigger than what I have now. Plus from a few years in bike shops I’m lucky enough to have ridden a huge mix of normal sized bikes.
I do have a model in my head but knowing me that’ll change in a few months when I actually start looking seriously. Watch this space.

Moped registration question

Yeah this. At the last Syds cops were filming the ride out. I imagine they promptly discovered 62.3% of the bikes had plates from the same branch in Chch. Lol. Wasn't long after that the ban hammer came down.
Which to be fair is what was meant to happen nationwide after a legislation change years back in the mini chopper days. Some places just never received the memo and their computer system still lets them spit out a plate if they select the right dropdowns/buttons to this day. Tauranga used to be able to do it easily too but that shut down here about 2018 after 'a phone call from head office' - words of the local AA lady. I got one successfully in Taupo in feb though.
