No idea....have no reference for this unfortunately Would that be the only real difference? the amount of turns of the steering wheel? Pic for reference

Hey folks, So I have investigated the option of fitting Rack and Pinion steering to my KE25 Corolla. With out delving uber deep into the science, I have ascertained that a AW11 MR2 rack, with KE70 brackets to mount it to the cross member, a KP starlet steering shaft and uni, and possibly some starlet outer tie rod ends.....it should work. I'm at the point where I need to make the decision in my build to do it, or lose it and keep the standard recirculating ball set up...... Is it worth it to convert it? what will the benefits be for a road car (with 20v Blacktop 4age)......is it worth doing it? Yeah nah?

Thanks for the advice mate, I can proceed with the plans

Hey Guys - sorry for the Noob question but I've read and seen a lot about people widening wheels. I'd like to buy an old set of SSR MESH to sit on my ke25 build while its at the panel shop, and have lined up a set that need reconditioned...and I may want to widen them when they get reconditioned depending on how the car sits after the panel work etc. I saw on PINE engineering that their barrels etc are only for race use........what's the rule around this?

last year an old barry drove his lawnmower into a power transformer and shorted out the street......right when I was doing a computer backup. I replaced my spa pool control board and the munted portable hard drive and wrote off the loss. A bit later I had to do a system restore from a backup to clean it up a bit (after watching a dodgy All Blacks live stream), but I had lost my recent ones with crashed hard drive so used an older one, thought nothing of it and moved on.........until I went to re-assemble my freshly blasted/painted/plated TE27 pedal box etc on the weekend. All my "dismantling" pics were lost in the process, my caliper ones were in there too......Bugger!! So I've put it all together the best I can remember. There may be a few washer or spacers out of order but meh we'll get there. I need to replace a couple of rubber stoppers/grommets that sit in the pedal and cushion them when inactive......all 4 of mine were worn and split, and I need the boot that sits over where the accelerator bracket meets the cable through the firewall.....anyone know where I can get something similar from? Yarns here:

Needed a costume for a mates action hero party a few years back.......had a few weeks between contracts and whipped this up....... just because. -
Yup as said above - Superglue on the joins is the go......you can get the join looking seamless with some accurate guts and glueing. As long as the thicker glass still sits nicely in the rubber without it spreading the channel you should be all good.

Long time no post.......2 business's and 2 small kids and buying the house will do that to your time and $$..... I've spent a bit of time working on my other Toyota project....to fund my other Toyota project..... I am waiting for space to clear up at the Panel shop to get the body work underway. In the mean time I've managed to track down a few panel cuts and some NOS to boot! There's been a few false leads of random shells around from as far as Horopito to the Phillipines.......Horopito turned out to be a ke35 and the Phillipines never eventuated. I am still excitedly waiting to hear on another potential shell. I was picking up some camera's for a video job and the guy had a 1200 coupe in the garage......as I usually do now, I asked him if he had a spare ke25 shell and turns out he does.......it is yet to materialise but I will keep chasing this up! Just need a drivers side now! Also have a complete rear panel (Taillight surrounds/lower valance etc) currently in the next ML Racing container form Japan. NOS indicator lenses - Much shiny goodness!

Thanks to the guys with the offers for help! I gave the calipers another clear coat and they are finally coming right - will give them a bake soon too. When I bought the Dupli Color paint, I didn't want silver, but a darker grey, so I got a high heat paint with the dark grey top, not caliper paint. But they still came out more silver like........went to get another can for the rears and discovered they have recently changed the colour of the lid to a light grey for the same paint because they knew it was a misrepresentation - thanks dicks! Anyway.....teaser pic of very cool things to come........Recaro seat custom skinned ala TE27

so I Painted the callipers almost a week ago with dupli colour high heat colour, and clear, and they're still tacky. The clear can says to bake in an oven at 200deg, but I thought a few days in the sun atleast should be ok.....but it's still tacky.......any ideas?

wow - October was my last post...... all my time has gone on my family and new business - and so has any money i've made from it too (who would have thought). I've painted up my front callipers and hubs and will put them back together soon - I've got to find things I can do with no spare $$ or major time. Bit of a plea for help here....... I'm in desperate need of an experienced friend!!!, a jack of all trades - a mentor to take me under his wing!! I look at my shell and all there is to do and maybe redo (and the fact I'm a total first timer and my experience is limited to, reading oldschool posts, internet research and yarns with people)....and I am feeling a bit overwhelmed, well a lot overwhelmed! I try to think I have a handle on the next step etc but man I could go on about all the questions and doubts I have about things..... My old man had a stroke a few years back and he's pretty closed off to getting involved because it makes him feel pretty shit that he can't do anything these days. Is there any folk out there in the Waikato that could lend a hand? even if it's a few yarns to help me get my head around it all and put a few doubts to ease?? I have beer in the fridge and an espresso machine.......whatever takes your fancy!!

Liking the resto goal: "Thing is I want this to stand out from the rest of the RFB crowd and dis-associate as much as I can" My old lady had 2 of these when they first came on the scene and when i was learning to drive - super nice cars. I was a happy boy when I was allowed it for the night!

so the brake place in Hamilton refused the job.......a) no tool to remove the rear handbrake bracket and after telling me on the phone they'd blast them for me, they said not unless they do the whole job. Anyone know where I can simply get a little bit of rust removed around the top of the moisture seal??

Yo - thanks for the input! Yeah i'll be dropping them off to be bead blasted tomorrow to get rid of that remaining rust. The pistons have come up mint with a gentle wire wheel so happy with that. Re: the rebuild kit.....I have the toyota one, but stumbled onto a european outfit that reconditions calipers, and they look like a big operation. http://www.budweg.com/product/details/341467?carId=23001 They have capped off the missing part but only sell their bits in bulk units so I'm on the charm offensive to see if I can pull a sneaky delivery

My project fund is rather low at the moment, so to keep things ticking over it's onto a few smaller jobs......which always seem to cost a bit anyway hah! So glad for the overalls and facemask etc - wire stalks flying everywhere! I've wire wheeled all the callipers and hubs ready for paint and rebuild. small problem of brushing off this little grommet....and theres none in the rebuild kit. I'm asking though toyota at the mo....anyone have any ideas on where to get these? Also some rust around the edge of the piston cylinder. I talked to a brake guy and he says they blast these parts.... Are they stuffed or saveable? //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/49950-alasdairs-1974-ke25-corolla/page-3

PROGRESS!!!!!!! Picked up the shell etc from getting blasted and primed. Waikato sandblasting did a good job of removing all the rust, paint etc from the underside and engine bay, and everywhere i couldn't........and with no panel warpage. No extra rust uncovered! just a few spots where it's true extent was revealed Also just a little bit of motivation (courtesy of some dude in the pillipines - SIC) ALSO: Engine is all good, just need 0.5 OS pistons and new rod bolts. Diff is all stripped and ready for leaf spring perches to be welded on. //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/49950-alasdairs-1974-ke25-corolla/page-2

Little by Little.....the story of the noob car restorer. cut off half the un-needed mounts on the ae86 diff and left the pan hard mount for now. T3 does a te27 bar and mount kit that may work depending on exhaust etc. I cut into the tubing a little bit.....just wondered if I needed to fill/weld this up a bit for strength? Also sent the engine and a few bits (hubs, callipers) to get dipped and checked over. Nathan at Motor Preparations in Otorohanga is good to deal with. He's going to clean up the block and head, check the internals and let me know what'll need replaced etc so that way I can budget for the rebuild - new cams, rwd water kit, cops.....port and polish.....whatever needs replacing. I'll paint it up, make it pretty, and stash it away for rebuild time when I'm ready to mock it up in the shell. ....and the shell and a bunch of other bits is on the way to get sandblasted and primed on wednesday!!! Stoked!!

Finally put an engine stand to proper use This is my first time ever pulling an engine apart and it's going pretty well so far. Filthy as but looks in pretty good nick for 250plus kms Turns out I went to college with the guy that owns the local engine rebuild shop so I'll be sending the block etc off to them to get it cleaned up and sorted for the rebuild. Started prepping the ae86 diff for trimming off the mounts. The drain plug is STUCK, oh well we'll sort that later.....I was told I could keep the pan hard bar mounts for on the ke25...... a) be gentle........... which one are the pan hard mounts? I assume I'll need to fab a mount on the chassis? Also had a few more goodies turn up in the mail..... Cheers to Alex at ML Racing for sorting the postage on the te27 booster! Whats the story abut cleaning/fixing these up? will the guts go flying everywhere if I open up the booster to clean it up? //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/49950-alasdairs-1974-ke25-corolla/page-2

one shipment of goodies arrived.....few more parts to get and i'll get the front suspension all assembled and ready for later. (just found my camera again so better photo's from now on too)
