I was pleasantly surprised by how little fuel our Hilux uses. With bullbar and farmer tray on it it still manages just under 9 L/100 km on open road and about 10.5-11 with around town driving (5 speed column shift, aircon and power steering). Surely the van isn't too much worse than that?

Haven’t done full roman MS paint graph extrapolation but 750 kms used 1 and a half tanks and I think it’s a 60L..

so about 12L/100km overall? A lot of traffic wombling in tga/mount.

It’s bigger than lux and full of camp shit so greater consumption to be expected

    Gn125

Hang on chief. He didn’t say she’s looking for a cheap funeral. A novice rider should stay well away from a GN125H, or more commonly known as the “Widowmaker”. That sort of speed is just not needed on your learner licence.

  4. If I was in the market for a new bike I’d buy a brand new DRZ400. I think besides Honda crf250 rally, or hold out for rally 300 later this year, I think it’s the best proposition before you start looking at litre bikes. new DRZ looks rad, deadset bullet proof, chuck wide rims and play with the gearing and a motard one would plenty of fun.

    /have you considered CT125?

  5. It’s back! By general demand, the now annual Hawkes Bay Moped NZ ride. In 2021 we're whacking it up a notch and exploring the bay over two days.

Saturday's ride will comprise a scenic tour of Napier, Hastings, Havelock North and a bit of back country towards the ranges. Refreshment stops along the way and avoiding highways as much as possible keeping smaller capacity cycles in mind.
This ride is a little over 100kms in length, beginning in Ahuriri and ending at the Westshore Hotel for fizzy sports lagers and firm handshakes. The route is subject to change based on potential road closures for Art Deco Weekend events. Link to Day 1's ride here https://goo.gl/maps/bv2cLnu8VymEU77E7

Sunday will involve a more spirited journey into the Kawekas, with a mixture of sealed and gravel roads. This ride will take us to the Mangatutu Hot Springs in the Kaweka Ranges. There are limited amenities on this route outside of the Puketapu township so it may pay to be self sufficient for snacks, fizzy sports lagers and gas if youre riding a big block. This ride is a 200km return jaunt, with fuel available in Hastings and Puketapu. Link to Day 2 ride here https://goo.gl/maps/8P3ELLHZtzmKfHJ17

Last year we had an awesome turn out of weirdos, and their equallty weird and terrible motorcycles. On top of motorised shenanigans there will be art deco related events and classic machinery to get amongst all weekend! How spoilt are we. Also if you're committed to the two dayer mission and struggling to find accomm i can facilitate you with some floor space/tent space at my abode.

    The boring stuff:
The ride is aimed for small bikes less than 250cc. But we wont discriminate if you wanna hang out on your big boy bike.
On both rides, but particularly day 2, there is a considerable amount of open road riding. Be courteous of other road users, keep left, if youre holding up traffic let people past and remember to hold your line. This will be a busy weekend in the bay so keep your eyes peeled for Aucklanders spilling lattes in their Q7's.
Any questions send me a message! dont be a stranger come and get stuck in!

bit of a side track, but I wonder if there is a sweet way to go in/around the whanganui national park, seems like lots of cool tracks around there. along the whanganui river, bridge to somewhere, I see there is Patea dam, although it looks one way,

Is there a map that shows forestry roads or something?

It's all DOC land so access is very limited. Boat access only to most places

Whanganui River Road to Pipiriki would be lush, then a bit of gravel out to Raetihi. The Patea Dam (Lake Rotorangi) is also rad but bit of a dead end.

Think the deepest you could penetrate (heh) the hinterland would be Old Whanga Road and the Bridge to Somewhere on the western side, accessed from Forgotten Highway. Again nothing links up to the other side and deffs no roads in place as its native forest/DOC land.
