  1. sos for no updates yet, i'm sure you're all desperately waiting to see how i'm getting on with a poxy falcon lol. its broke down, fixed itself, leaked about 4 litres of oil, leaked fuel an stuff, yeah, all usual shite. i've also got number 6 spark plug sitting at a mad angle in the head, yay! so that's a problem that's pissing me off cos i cant take it out unless i want to take the head off and fix that, massively uneconomical on a 330k engine that i don't really want anyway. but i'm hoping its gonna stick it out until i put something else in it, i'm wanting a clevo v8 now, we'll see. and yeah anyways, bought another falcon yesterday. I now have an XE bonnet, guards, bumpers and dashboards, so thats gonna happen too. did a deal with a mate so i bought it, take the XE bits i want, swap them out for my xf parts back to that one and he's bought it off me for same money. i'm calling that a win. cos i cant be fucked bits-and -piecing out the car, although there are loads of extras that i'm getting rid of anyways, doors, doorcards, guards, headers, etc, coming to a for sale post near you soon! took the canopy off and fitted a tonneau. much improvement. other car. [/url] i'm going to build one good dash out o the two, and i love these clocks! so much nicer than the XF shite. rev counter and an oil pressure gauge too. sweet. 2. it is too. its actually an XF with the front end transplanted but yeah. my bad.
  3. yeeeees! i'm liking the flames idea. much piss needed and then get mates at it with some dazzle. DB is in progress.
  4. saw this earlier, jizzed a bit. i might look for XD parts...
  5. Ok so really early doors yet but plans are to implode the canopy ( or remove it and sell it, whatevers most fun) peel off the tints, give it a good service and check it all over etc. not that it seems to need it, everything seems suitibly worn in / out for a 30 year old ford. everything seems to work, which is cool and useful for a daily. needs an alignment badly, has airhorn (sigh) so thats getting ripped out soon and i started on my mullet today ( there will be lots of mullet jokes and banter, you have been warned) i'm keeping the hilux for a week or prob slightly more to see if this ones up to the task of basically taking me to work, the tip, and the bottle shop. we'lll see... the paint is some rubber shite that peels off and its nasty to touch but its staying for the time being as i'm really lazy and i also have the cortina to finish.
  6. Got myself a new project tonight. 1988 XF falcon. 4.1, 3 on the tree. Cheers to XSSpeed for basically kicking me up the arse and getting me on with it. i startet looking at XH xr6's, always wanted a XD V8 so i'm kinda in the middle. canopy is going sooner rather than later, tints are already peeling themselves off which is great, bit of tinkering and see if she's a good daily. Plenty of room in here for the future Tidy Enough I love the wheels, ok so they're not tridents and eagers, but i'll get there. //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/54385-mighty-joes-xf-falcoon-of-filth/ Discuss
  7. So i've been woprking on the Triumph for a few weeks, it needed a wof and rather than patch it up here and there i gave her a wee tickle and re did some stuff i wasn't happy with from the first build up. this was a list as long as your arm of small bits, but now, for the first time in a long time i'm happy with her apearance. i did some stuff the missus wanted doing too, and gave her some upgrades, namely, a cup holder on the glovebox lid and some usb and phone charging ports in there too! simple things to keep her indoors happy! haha. things i've re done. the front seatbelts were old and wouldn't retract that last 6 inches, so imounted them on a collar sruch tube so they dont rub. re greased the spindle on full extension and schweet! fitted the mudflaps at the missus' request. i prefer without, its less grandad-spec but meh. re wired the radio with a proper inline fuse and safe permanent live, not one twisted into place off the clock loom found a centre console that isn't cracked. since the dash is recovered it needed 2-3mm chopping off the top so it'd fit. scary, but it worked. re attached the vinyl on the front of the parcel shelves. put the carpet in again from scratch after taking the lot out, scrubbing it and letting it dry properly, i prefer the fit this time. plus now the screen doesn't leak it wont smell again. its lush. fitted the chrome trims and stuff i still hadn't done along the doors and stuff, that was just me being pure lazy. re touched the seats with the vinyl paint. i'm stoked at how tht stuff sticks and lasts. 100% recommended by me. new screen, professionally fitted this time. rebuilt the choke mechanism with a new sleeve with a plastic insert so its soother. its still stiff, cos of the stupid length of the inner wire and the bends it has to make but its a massive improvement. fixed the dash lights, all sensors now present and working. new brake disks and pads. new quarter light rubbers, she's now officially new rubbered up all round. there isn't a single old seal on the ol'girl. fitted the cheapo SU air filters i've had forever too. she barks hard now but its eaned right out and changed the idle, so i might put the standard airbox back on, i dont want to fuck with the carb tuning, she's too good a runner, plus its the missus' car, no real need. The engine bays still messy but its honest dirt, not an oily mess anymore. Took her for a wof today, right front wheel bearing needs a tweak up and 2 tyres, which i already knew about the tyres so i'm stoked to hell! Hopefully i'll be able to get the new mags sorted in time so i wont have to find 2 tyres i'll only use for an hour. Token pics, cos thanks for reading.
  8. shame to hear the story behind the puncture wound, fucking dumb cunts. but you should add a few more for the 'pew 'pew 'pew police chase effect.
  9. small world man. well chch is anyway. but cool. we've been at it again today. loving this weather now. makes for such better evenings tinkering.
  10. Been tinkering away with this, I had a mates mini to fix last week so didn't get to touch the tina. got some done today though. the engine is together for the last time and i'm fucking stoked about that. i'm sick of looking at it on the bench now i want it in the car. timed it, set the tappets and rebuilt the fuel pump and whacked that on. i couldn't resist throwing some extra bits on for a photo. also turned down my slightly too large wheel nuts by sticking them in my drill press and basically holding the grinder against them, one by one. worked a treat who needs a lathe? lol I got 2 of those bad boys on just to have a look. the obligatory "i'm working" pose. whats the deal with playing a guitar in the engine bay too? she's not far off lads. exciting!! discussion. //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/46071-mighty-joes-english-duo-cortina-67-triumph-74/page-2
  11. Ha. Milton st depo? . I only live round the corner. I used to work with him in Belfast but when he started at Milton st he moved in with me for a bit.
  12. Wow i'm far too slack with these updates. Progress is slower than i'd like but finding the odd part here and there for a 49 year old pommy motor is difficult sometimes! Anyway. I got the car back from the yard. The weather has not been kind to her Deja vu? I was gonna paint the engine bay but then decided against it. i just want it back on the road for summer. i want to paint the whole thing in a couple of years anyway, and i might got for a colour change anyway, so i degreased it and striped out most stuff, i think i'm going to hide the loom, or some of it at least. And just been painting, cleaning, assembling, realising i need another seal/gasket/bolt and going off to locate that and then its 3 days later. The fella in the overalls is Stan my housemate. he's a diesel mechanic and i think he was bored today, so i fucked around cleaning and polishing parts and he assembled some more of the engine.
  13. good call! They do look nice in red. 4 spd overdrive too. i'm dribbling a bit . ( to be fair though thats kinda normal )
  14. Sweet car cuz. needs a few of thems horn speakers on a roof rack and a crate of waikato in the boot tho. Fuck me that nardi looks sweet in there. i think i must purchase one now. god damn, and blast, but cheers! Nice looking car though, whats the story with the white plates do yo know? not that its important but im a nosey git. red ones are for poofters though, whens it going to go blue with an orange stripe then? everyone knows thems the best ones.
  15. I finally got this back after my own laziness and tbh money stuffs. (visas are expensive) But i painted my ute, triumph is chugging along nicely as a daily for the missus so i free'd up enough plastic to get these parts home Surely would've been easier to stick a 4age or CA18 or, even an RB but feck it. i love the sound of these little motors on carbies and its got a bench seat and a column 4 speed manual for epic cruising times so no fucks given fun times ahead, after another few parts are sourced. Note the size difference in the rocker gear. The Valves are 2mm bigger than stock as far as i can make out ( they're a bit difficult to measure with the verniers once installed.) inlet 38.4 exh. 32.5 Cam specs Power Band: 3000-7000rpm Valve Lift: 0.349" Duration: 286° Timing Figures: 35/71/71/35 Inlet Timing: 108° ATDC Inlet lift at TDC: 0.077" Valve Clearances: .020" inlet/.022" exhaust +60 oversize pistons. 82mm. rods are original but have been checked, balanced and 'weighted' together. dunno the proper term. this is the only thing limiting the redline really, the cam will run out of steam at about 7000 but if i wanted to stick a wilder cam in it in the future, with proper rods and the rest of the work its set for the racetrack. The difference between the old main caps Vs the new. held in with arp studs and nuts. Electronic dizzy with expensive coil (because chrome) mapped with the right curve for my cam. and a boring cover plate, but its been balanced right through with the flywheel and crank. And i got these bad boys today. Chur to Shaneo for putting me onto them. These are exaclty what i wa after Quattros 13x7. 4x108PCD. Not an easy wheel to find it turns out. but man i'm chufed to bits with 'em. all i need is nuts to bolt them on too they're ready to go. bonus. She's gone from whitewall grandads car to bogan staple in 15 seconds im still shopping but that is the bulk done. thank fuck. the missus would actualy kill me is i had anymore bills to pay like these! haha (nervously laughs whilst sweating) Discussion. //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/46071-mighty-joes-english-duo-cortina-67-triumph-74/ I\l update this a bit more regularly now. i'm hoping to get the car home this weekend if i can get the trailer and work on it at home instead of having it in the workshop.
  16. brilliant. well i tell you the devil is in the details, and you cant have an english car that isnt sticky and black underneath. although all my previous english cars have also had newspaper, chickenwire and bog for sills so...
  17. nice car dude. so clean. beat colour too. whats the oil from do you know yet? i've had a letter from my landlord regarding the oil stains on the driveway. i'm not sure which leak to fix first, the diff or the gearbox lol.
  18. thats cool yeah mine is 84 square headight. yeah mines brown dash and tan seat and trim. perfectly 80's. its nice to see one getting some love anyway, rough or not these are getting rarer by the week. most now are just running their days out as farm hacks. i suppose thats what they were built for but still.. and thats cool on the wheel. mine wont ever justify or need anything flash but i've got a boomerang shaped one and i detest it. anything to replace it is cool. but yeah sweet as anyway keep me in mind at least.
  19. love this ute. i've got an 84 and this is what i want mine to be. only mines a tray. and ex farm hack. so its 10000 times rougher lol. i love the interior though is that an aussie spec or a bit custom cos it looks really smart in black compated to the poo brown ones i've seen specced here in nz. i've not seen those door cards before either. if you change out that steering wheel i'd be interested in yours btw. keeping track of this thread. joe.
  20. Yeah cool an A2 is the one i want. is it the kit with followers and springs or just cam? i only ask as i need the smaller (earlier) followers. the 711 block ones dont fit. i bet you already knew that though seeing as you've just built up a 1500! haha. just clicked. definitely interested though as i havent ordered one yet. pm me a price!
  21. Tell me about it. machined porn. ( not machine porn, thats another subject ) it was better than christmas too. sadly. haha. its all with the machine shop now, i was gonna build it up myself but tbh he has to install it to check tolerances etc so seems stupid to tear it all down again so hes going to give it back to me as a short block, and i'll fit and time the cam myself. he said he knows THE guy in chch for distributors too so thats sorted, hes going to re-bush it fit electronic ign and map the curve to match the cam. not sure what thats going to cost though so ill have to wait until i've go the block paid for. i cant have the block waiting to be collected and not the funds to pay for it
  22. look what came! thats not everything but most. still need cam, dizzy rebuilt and to decide valve sizes.
